Stamped and Painted Card

Stamped and painted card by @jbckadams for @scrapbookexpo #cardmaking #ssbe2017 #scrapbookexpo #stamping #watercoloring #watercolors

Hey Stamp & Scrapbook Expo friends and fans, Becki here to share with you a stamped and painted card that I created with a stamp set from our Latest & Greatest Stamping workshops. The stamp set I’m playing with today is the Big Bloom set from Dare 2B Artzy.

I started by gathering a few of my stamping supplies. Along with the stamp set, I grabbed a black ink pad, a Versamark ink pad, some white embossing powder and watercolor paper.  I knew that I wanted to use watercolors on this card. Watercolor paper is thick and holds a lot of water without warping and falling apart. I stamped the large flower twice on a piece of watercolor paper using Versamark ink. Then, I embossed the flowers using white embossing powder. This left me with white on white images that were perfect for fussy cutting. Before I fussy cut the flowers I painted them with my favorite  watercolors from Illustrated Faith.

Now, I am far from being a watercolor expert! That is why I embossed the flowers. The raised lines helped me to keep the colors right where I wanted them to be. After watercoloring the flowers, I added a bit of color to the background of the card by mixing some blue and teal tones. Then, at the bottom of the card, I added the “shine on beautiful” sentiment from the Big Bloom stamp set using black ink.

This card turned out even better than I had hoped!

I love the soft delicate painted flowers with a bold sentiment.

The final finishing touch on this card is some white sequins. I wanted to add a little bit of texture without adding more color. I also wanted the focus to stay on the flowers, not embellishments. The sequins were the perfect embellishment for this card.
