Social Media and the EXPO

Hello and Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was the Canadian Thanksgiving, so it was a nice three day long weekend for me. I love what I do, but it is also nice to sit back, kick my feet up, and relax with my family and three dogs.

Working in social media, I have the fun job of seeing many of the pictures and videos you share from your time spent at the EXPO. So many of you post wonderful photos that perfectly express how much fun can be had at the EXPO! Whether shopping with your friends, completing a project at the Creativity Center with the lovely Lorraine, completing make & takes in exhibitor booths, or having a party at the crops, I am at the other side of the keyboard smiling at the photos you share.

Since my last blog post, the Denver and Akron shows have taken place. Here are a few of the photos that were shared in the EXPO Facebook groups:

Denver – Safari Theme Crop

Denver – Slumber Party Crop – Fun Slippers

Denver – Crop Crew

Denver Friday Card Swap – Most Appreciated Card by Katy Thomas

Denver – Door Prize Winner – Tammy Lester

Denver – Lorraine, Host of the Creativity Center

Akron – Wizard of Oz Crop

Akron – Wizard of Oz crop

Akron – Shopping at It’s Cheaper Than Therapy

Thank you to every one of you who shares your photos so that I can live vicariously through you and join in the fun that you have while attending the EXPOs.

My next blog post will be in November after the show season has finished. I look forward to sharing more customer experiences with you at that time. Until then, happy scrapping and I will see/chat with you in the Facebook Groups!

Social Media and the EXPO

Hello and welcome to our first edition of Social Media and the EXPO. In this series, I will share with you fun photos, videos, and posts that you, our EXPO attendees, have shared with us as well as popular posts from our various social media platforms.

Did you know that for each Stamp & Scrapbook EXPO show location we have a corresponding group on Facebook? These groups are a great place for attendees to chat with each other about their local EXPO as well as EXPO staff and exhibitors. One of my favourite aspects of the groups is that many of you share photos from the show. We get to see friends enjoying the show together, the fun decorations and costumes from the crops, projects you completed in a workshop or at the crop, and so much more.

For this first edition, I am going to share with you some of my favourite photos that were shared by consumers who attended that last couple shows.

Mesa - Tinman

Mesa – Tinman at the Crop

Art Anthology Make & Take

Mesa – Art Anthology Make & Take

Mesa – Emoji Crop Decorations

Fun Show Specials – Queen & Co. mini shopping carts

Marlborough – Friends

Marlborough – I Conquered Gong

Marlborough – Golden Ticket raffle winners

Schaumburg – Celebrity Sightings in the Hotel

Schaumburg – Special EXPO Memorabilia

Schaumburg – Baggage Check raffles

Schaumburg – Cat in the Hat crop

That was fun! I did not even have to leave my couch to feel like I was at a Stamp & Scrapbook Expo. I hope you have enjoyed this trip to the EXPO via social media. See you next month!

Freebie Friday – CardMaps Vol. 5

CardMaps 5 Giveaway

Freebie Friday with Jen Walker

Happy Friday! I love Fridays, but I am very excited for the next few days. We have been having crazy up and down weather for weeks. We even got snow today, but tomorrow, tomorrow is supposed to be the beginning of warmer weather. Right now, it is -7 C (19 F) but by Monday, we are supposed to be at 22 C (72 F). I am SOOO ready for Spring and flowers and green grass. Are you?

Are you a card maker? I enjoy making simple cards using dies, and am slowly learning to colour with copics and watercolour markers on stamped images. I wish I had more time to practice! I do really enjoy receiving handmade cards and look forward to giving more cards that I have made myself to my family and friends.

At each Stamp & Scrapbook Expo, we host a Card Swap. These events have been a huge success over the last few years and often sell out. How fun to be able to spend time with fellow card makers and swap your cards with them too. I love that idea!

Today, I would like to tell you about CardMaps Vol. 5. This special issue magazine is from Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine and includes exclusive card sketches from PageMaps.

CardMaps Vol. 5

Loaded with inspiration and creativity, CardMaps 5 includes 88 cards, 50 exclusive CardMaps sketches, how-to photos featuring trendy, must-try techniques, step-by-step instructions for every card, free cutting files, and as always, so much more! From everyday sentiments and birthday celebrations to seasonal holidays and cards of thanks, this special issue has all of your card making endeavours covered!

Freebie Friday – Stamp & Scrapbook Expo Giveaway

Freebie Friday with Jen Walker

Happy Friday! With one Stamp & Scrapbook Expos event completed and nineteen left to go in the 2017 show season, I thought it would be fun to give away a pair of admission tickets!

Before we get to the giveaway, you probably know that the EXPOs include shopping, workshops, and crops. Did you know every Stamp & Scrapbook Expo event also has its own Facebook Group? Not only will you get information about the show, but you can also meet new friends and find out who is going and how they are getting there.

  • Need another person for a full crop table? Post a note about it on the group.
  • Want to meet some fellow papercrafters in person before you head to the show, consider arranging a meetup from within the group.
  • Chat about favorite workshops, what to bring, etc.
  • Many of our exhibitors post information about sales or other products in their booths too.
  • We also offer exclusive giveaways only on the local Facebook Groups!

Join_Local_Facebook_Group_FB

The Facebook groups are active all year long. There are lots of people who met someone in the group last year, attended the show together and have stayed in touch all year. Take advantage of the groups to find other local crafters, activities, and more. For example: Do you know of a great deal on a crafting product nearby? Did you create a project you would like to share? Have you learned a new technique? Chat with people who share your interests AND are local! These groups offer the best of both worlds!

The groups are also a great place to share photos and memories from your time at the EXPOs, and the EXPO team (hehe … especially me) love to see you having fun! I love to see all the fun the guests are having at the EXPOs. I hope you will all continue (or start) to share your photos to the group and using the hashtags #SSBECrop and #SSBE2017 so that I can live vicariously through you all from my home in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

This week, the fabulous Stamp & Scrapbook Expo team is giving away a pair of admission tickets to the show floor! Imagine yourself walking amongst aisles and aisles of the coolest scrapbooking and stamping products around. Yay! Leave a comment on this blog post before March 30th at midnight for a chance to win.  Good luck!
