Vellum Overlay Cards

Do you have spring fever?  I know I sure do!  After the winter most of us had, I am sure you are ready for some beautiful spring-themed projects.  With spring on it’s way, it is also a reminder that Easter is just around the corner.  When I think about spring or Easter, pretty pastel colors and flowers come to mind.  So with that said, I would like to share some fun projects using flowers.  I hope today you will be inspired with these fun spring projects.

Best Days Of Our Lives By Alicia McNamara

We all know how much texture and dimension adds to a layout, card, or mixed media project. Alicia has definitely demonstrated this in this layout. We often use the term “Happy Papercrafting” because we know the opportunities with paper are so much more than just on the page.  Today, Alicia shares her gorgeous example of beautiful altered art. I would also like to share a tip that will help you when creating your outstanding layouts.  TIP: Choose a focal point on your layout and then create embellishments that will continue to tell the story from that point.  It is amazing how well this works!

Best Days Of Our Lives

Alicia’s layout is full of all kinds of beautiful elements.  It is really light and colored with some pastels, but there are also some black parts here and there to give it a nice contrast.  I absolutely love that!  Alicia adds wording perfectly and it tells so much about the photo.  This layout is certainly an eye catcher and is very well done.  Let me take you over to Time to Create where you can write down all of the products you will need to start your own layout.  Take some time while you are at Alicia’s blog to see more of her beautiful creations.  You will certainly leave her blog feeling very inspired.

Vellum Overlay Cards By Jennifer McGuire

Not sure how to use vellum?   Do you ever struggle using vellum?  Here’s a fun technique using vellum that will turn your curiosity (or struggles) into having fun and being very creative.  You will enjoy working with vellum so much that I guarantee you will make many more projects using it. These beautiful cards created by Jennifer McGuire have a vellum overlay that give each one a very soft look.

Vellum Overlay Cards

Jennifer started her cards by simply using white embossing powder to emboss the floral image on vellum.  There is a little bit of glitter added to the lines of the flower for extra interest and a pearl added to the center. Adding some color to her image, she started by stamping the layering floral image with the Altenew Beautiful Day Stamp Set using different shades of Altenew ink on a small note card.  Let me escort you over to watch Jennifer’s YouTube Video on how she created her card, along with her step-by-step instructions.  You are going to love every minute of her video.  Step out of your comfort zone and take some time to experiment and just have fun creating!

Absolutely Beautiful By Melissa Phillips

Cards might be little, but they are packed with so much inspiration.  This is one of those cards that can be so versatile.  Send it as a Spring, Hello, Birthday, Thinking Of You, or even an Easter Card.  Who wouldn’t love to receive this adorable card in the mail?

Absolutely Beautiful

Melissa’s card started with the word beautiful to create the theme for her card.  She used the Reverse Confetti You’re So stamp set for her sentiment.  The beauty of this stamp set is it has four uplifting words that can be mixed and matched to create numerous uplifting sentiments.  She also used the Blooms ‘N Buds stamp set to create the pretty blossoms.  For the background, Melissa used the XOXO Hearts Confetti Cuts.  Melissa’s creativity is amazing!  I love her combinations and the colors she chose are so pretty and perfect!  Click here and I will take you over to see more of Melissa’s wonderful talent and fabulous creations.

Love You By Amanda Baldwin

Scrapbook pages are always a great reminder of all that is special to us; they are a great record of your journey and the people in your life.  So as a scrapbooker, it is so important to take those precious photos and add them into our scrapbooks.  When I came upon this beautiful layout I was drawn to all the fine details that Amanda created; this is such a fabulous design that uses lovely colors and showcases her precious photo.

Love You

Amanda created this pretty layout using the beautiful Wild At Heart collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio.  She started out by drawing a large circle onto her cardstock and then added watercolors over and around the circle.  After that had dried, she did some machine stitching around the circle repeatedly to create a gentle, textured look.  After gluing her butterflies into position she filled the gaps with die cuts, wood veneers, and enamel dots.  Amanda’s layout is so soft and elegant; I love it!  I would like to say thank you to Amanda for sharing her talent with us.  She is one of the fabulous design team members at Cocoa Vanilla Studio. Click here and I will take you over to her blog Happy Arty Days where you will see more of her outstanding talent.  You will definitely be inspired to start that next page!

They Say It’s Your Birthday By Kay Miller

Cards are all about letting those close to you know how much they are loved, especially on their special day.  Who doesn’t love cards?  Whether the are simple or detailed; cards are not only fun to give but are also very fun to make.  This one is for those who love to stamp and color.  This sweet card is also one that you can change the sentiment to and use it for several different occasions.

They Say It's Your Birthday

This is such a cheerful card!  Kay used the stamp Forget Me Not for her flowers, and some different dies to add some dimension.  Come over with me to My Joyful Moments where you will find all of the supplies you will need to get started on creating one of your own.  Can you just imagine the warm feeling that will come to the person who receives this one in the mail?  Not only will this card warm the heart, but it will be treasured for a life time.

Clip Frame By Shanty 2 Chic

A clip frame is perfect for when you want to display a favorite photograph or artwork without the distraction of a frame.  What’s the best part of this fun frame?  It will only cost you around five dollars to make. Yes, you heard that right!  Clip frames feature an easy-to-use clasp that makes your photos stand out in a unique way, so the artwork stands alone.

Clip Frame

Find a special space on your walls, or set this on a table where you can show off that special photo.  Create several of these rustic warm wood frames and personalize your display.  Let me take you over to Shanty 2 Chic where you can see a video tutorial with step-by-step instructions.   You will love this blog so be sure to check out more of their fabulous projects.  You will be so inspired to make many more Do It Yourself projects!

Thin Mint Truffles By Stephanie Hann

What a perfect time to make and share these Thin Mint Truffles.  Not only do they honor Girl Scout cookie season, but the are also a great treat for St. Patrick’s Day as well.  If you have bought some Thin Mints from the Girl Scouts this year, and still have a box or two, you really need to give this recipe a try.

Thin Mint Truffles

These little balls of goodness are amazing (especially if you love the mint and chocolate combo).  Best part about them, no baking required and only four ingredients needed! I recommend making a double batch because from my experience, they disappear rather fast.  Store them in the freezer, as you would with your Girl Scout cookies.  This will savor the truffles a little bit slower… that is, if you don’t eat them all in one sitting. 🙂  I know you are wanting to write down this recipe so click here and I will escort you over to Cookin’ Cowgirl.  Let’s just say… these will be a big hit with your family and friends!

Thank you for your time today!  Life get so busy, so I appreciate you stopping by.  I hope you will enjoy your weekend and please do something that makes you happy.  Weekends go by way too fast, so make the most of yours!  Be sure to hug those you love and spend some good quality time with them.

See you back next weekend!

Thank You For Your Kindess

It’s a brand new week of inspiration here at Weekly Scrapper!  We always have wonderful and talented designers that come up with the most awesome and fun ideas to share with you.  You will be inspired today by a scrapbook layout, a watercolor card, a fabulous DIY project with photos onto wood, and last but not least, yummy and beautiful strawberry mini cupcakes.  The possibilities are endless!  Sit back and enjoy!

Hello Tiny Toes By Melinda Spinks

Do you remember the feelings you had the first time you saw your precious baby?  This is one of those scrapbook pages that will remind you of those precious moments with your newborn.  This is when journaling becomes so important.  Take some time and express your feelings of that day.  You can even write a sweet letter to your child expressing your feelings as well.  We all need inspiration and encouragement to help us capture the first years of our baby’s life so we can remember those “tiny toes” forever!

Hello Tiny Toes

From the baby’s birth to those first exciting days at home, every memorable moment makes for a perfect scrapbook layout.  Melinda Spinks, a fabulous designer for Doodlebug Designs. did such a beautiful job creating this darling layout.  I love how she preserved the memory of her son’s tiny little toes, along with the journaling that preserves the story of it all.  Melinda added stitching as an outstanding embellishing idea and the perfect personal touch.  Click here and I will take you over so you can see more on how she created this adorable layout.  You will want to jump right in and create a baby layout of your own.

Thank You For Your Kindness By Keia Shipp-Smith

Do you have Inktense water soluble pencils that are still sitting in the original box?  It is a great time to pull them out and use them. If you do not have them but love this card, you can paint with the watercolor pencils or paint you have.  Don’t be afraid to jump in and give this technique a try.  Once you’ve tried it, it’s all over because it’s all you will want to do!

Thank You For Your Kindess

The beauty of using watercolor pencils is that they leave an intense, translucent, ink-like effect.  Keia used a fine tip watercolor brush to soften the colors.  She then added dimension to her card by adding three die cut butterlies, a die cut border, and a sentiment to complete her card.  Using a simple design can become so elegant.  Let me take you on over to Confessions Of A Paperholic where you will be able to see all of the supplies you will need, along with how Keia created this beautiful card.

Transfer Photos To Wood

Are you wanting some different and creative decor for your home?  Transferring a photo to wood can become one of your favorite crafting techniques!  Transferring photos to wood is so much fun and surprisingly easy to do.  Once you give this a try, I think you will find yourself looking for more ways to apply this fun technique!  Creating wonderful artwork and making home decor is something anyone can do with the right inspiration and enough determination to see the project through.

Transfer Photos To Wood

With just a few easy steps and your treasured photos, a piece of wood will begin a beautiful home decor piece that will brighten up your home.  Let me take you on over to Pretty Designs where you will find step-by-step instructions on how to create your one-of-a-kind decor.  You will be able to hang these on your walls, set them on end tables, or create beautiful ornaments for your Christmas tree.  Let your imagination run wild and see what you come up with!

Strawberry Mini Cupcakes By Chelsea Haga

How could anyone resist these yummy Strawberry Mini Cupcakes?  These cute cupcakes can be used for many occasions from a whimsical party to a summer picnic, or even just a yummy treat for the family.  Can’t you just see the smiles on your guests when they see these cupcakes brightening up your decorated table?  Some desserts are almost too pretty to eat – almost! 🙂  These cupcakes are so pretty and the best part is that they are as delicious as they look!

Happy Birthday By Laura Bassen

I am so excited to share a new stamp Sketchy Cities America by Simon Says Stamp.  This fun new stamp gives you the skyline of Seattle.  I have so many fond memories of Seattle, so I can’t wait to play with this stamp set.  You will also enjoy all the wonderful sentiments that comes with this set.  This is one of those cards that you could easily turn into a perfect masculine card.  Don’t you just love the color blending?  It really adds a great touch to this fabulous card.

Happy Birthday

For Laura’s beautiful card she highlighted the skyline by embossing it in clear, then blending several of the Altenew inks from their Sea Shore ink set.  This is such a magnificent way of saying Happy Birthday!  Click here and I will take you over to Laurafadora where you will be able to see a video on how Laura created this fun card.  While visiting, be sure to look at some of the other fabulous cards she has created.  Wouldn’t you love to be the one who receives this gorgeous card?

Hello Sweet Pea By Broni Holcombe

Are you ready for some more fun and inspiration?  This is one of those “wow” cards that you can create using a few different techniques along with some fun vibrant colors.  Broni really has a gift for bringing images to life with her amazing coloring skills.  This is one of those cards that make you want to jump right in and create one of your own. Hello Sweet Pea

Digital images are a great way to let your imagination run wild.  The best images speak for themselves.  Broni decided to watercolor these sweet pea flowers using a very casual watercoloring technique.  She used a few of her Zig Clean Color pens to fill in the background and shade the blossoms.  The coloring is so easy with a lot of different options of color.  The rest of the work is just matting it all up.  Let me escort you over to Splashes Of Watercolor where you can see the supply list needed for this card.  The cards you create are so priceless and will always be treasured by the person receiving them.

Dream Passionately By Cathy Cafun

How do you come up with your ideas to start layouts?  For me, inspiration usually comes from sifting through photos, which I love to do.  When I stumble across the ones I want to use, I usually come up with some quick ideas for starting a layout.  One of my favorite go-to ideas is using chipboard; its a great way to add some dimension to your layout.  This ultra-sweet layout was created by Cathy Cafun using some Dusty Attic chipboard. Using frames is a great way to draw the eye to your photos.  Other favorite techniques of mine when using chipboard include painting along with adding glitter, stickles, texturizing elements, and so much more.

Dream Passionately

What a wonderful design Cathy created, and her details are perfect.  Don’t you just love how she tied all the chipboard pieces together using flowers?  Cathy’s combination of pastels are glorious and makes us hopeful that spring is not that far away.  Click here and I will be happy to escort you over to the blog “Cathy Can’t Help Herself” where you will be thrilled with all the inspiration! While you are visiting Cathy’s blog be sure to check out all of the other beautiful layouts she has to share.

Hands Of Time By Brenda Brown

This beautiful masterpiece can be used for a home decor piece or a beautiful card to brighten up someone’s day.  I love the texture that was created using gesso, modeling paste, and your favorite stencil.  You can always create a spectacular background by spritzing with ink sprays, mists, or color wash.  You know me, I am a big fan of creative and different backgrounds.

Hands Of Time

Brenda created this on a 5 X 7 canvas board.  There is nothing more exquisite than a handmade decor piece for your home.  This distinctive canvas is definitely the proof of what one can do when you open up your imagination.  I would like to send out a big thank you to Brenda Brown for sharing this beautiful and unique masterpiece with us.  Let me take you over to Bumblebees And Butterflies where you can find a list of supplies along with the steps of how Brenda created her canvas.  Be sure to stop by her blog anytime you need a burst of inspiration.

Chalkboards are a versatile tool that come in so handy at home.  They can come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and styles to fit the needs of multiple users.  Today I have to share with you one of the most unique and fun chalkboards I have ever seen.  I totally fell in love with this and so will you.

Headboard to Chalkboard

Christy found this fun old headboard at a thrift store for only $10.00.  It is amazing how you can find great treasures at the thrift store; and so inexpensive as well.  Who would have ever thought of a headboard turning into a useful chalkboard?  I also love the added hanging hooks to add a little more function.  This is one project I can’t wait to get started on.  I have the perfect spot in my home for it.  I know you are dying to make this as well, so come with me over to Confessions Of A Serial Do-It-Yourselfer where you will get step-by-step instructions by Christy.  You will want to jot down some notes and what supplies you will need.  With a little help from Christy, you will be able to create this adorable chalk board in no time. Plaid Watercolor

Welcome back, my dear crafty friends, to Weekly Scrapper!  Don’t you just love Saturdays?  It is one of my favorite days of the week, and especially because I get to share my passion of crafting with you. I just love spending the day in my craft room and do the things I love to do!  I hope you will be able to take some time for yourself today and have fun with your crafting.

Best Weekend By Missy Whidden

When creating a layout, the photo itself is the major guide to your process.  Any time you are using a black and white photo, you can incorporate a lot of color on the remainder of the layout to balance the lack of color in the photo.  Have you ever noticed that black and white emphasizes the faces in the photo?  Missy did such an outstanding job on this layout.  The colors she used really give the photo a pop and helps it really stand out.

Best Weekend

Missy added some fun arrows and arranged them for her background, adhered them, then went over them with gesso.  She added some shimmerz paints, washi tape, and embellished with some die cuts, tags, sequins.  To top it off she did some machine stitching through the center of her arrows.  This is such a fun and eye catching layout!  Let me escort you over to Little Nugget Creations where you will find a step-by-step video, along with many more outstanding projects created by Missy.  You will always leave her blog feeling very inspired.

Plaid Watercolor By Debby Hughes

Today’s card is all about the plaid background. Can you believe this gorgeous plaid was created with watercolors?  You can get an intense background with watercolor paints!  Not all watercoloring has to be soft and subtle.  The beauty of plaids is that they can be used for both a masculine or feminine look.  I just love this plaid card; it is so eye-catching and a very fun technique! Handmade cards instantly brighten up anyone’s day.

Plaid Watercolor

Step outside the box and create unique watercolor plaid backgrounds in all colors.  You can create a card and design a greeting for any occasion from birthdays, holidays, and invitations to general correspondence.  There is so much joy that comes from a card made with a lot of love.  A pop of color can make it look perfect!  Let’s pop on over to Lime Doodle Design where you will be inspired by Debby’s talent.  You will want to jump right in and create one of your own handmade treasures!

Love You To Pieces By Shari Carroll

Here is a fun card full of inspiration.  Watercoloring is such a beautiful technique and there are so many different water-based coloring mediums to choose from.  I love working with watercolors; it is such a great way to add beautiful colors to your cards.  This card was created using the Heart of Flowers Wafer die cut on top and a watercolor panel beneath the die cut. What’s not to love about this adorable card designed by Shari Carroll?  A perfect card to say you are thinking of that special person!

Love You To Pieces

This die is so much fun to play with you just want to jump right in and create one of your own handmade treasures!  The possibilities are absolutely endless!  Shari has so many wonderful projects that you don’t want to miss out on.  Let me take you over to her blog My World, where you will find endless inspiration.
