Sundays With Lorraine

Sundays-with-Lorraine

Good day, my artsy friends! I hope all is well in your world. I’m happy that you’ve found some quality time to relax and get your craft on!

Snap Shots Of You by Heather Leopard

Would you believe that Heather created this adorable layout using just a single sheet of October Afternoon Saturday Mornings Journal Cards (12″ x 12″) and a handful of embellishments? I know you’ve heard me say this before, but it’s not always easy to pull together using multiple photos plus an interesting background. The desired end result is to have your photos take center stage and everything else should be there to complement your photos. This layout is a perfect example of how to do just that! Notice that the beautiful background has lots of color, yet it complements the black and white photos instead of competing for your attention. Your eye is automatically drawn to the precious photos, then your eyes take in the rest of the design.

Snapshots Of You

I hope this inspires you to try something different with your photos like Heather did by incorporating them into the background as part of the design. I’d like to send out a hug to Heather for sharing her tips and tricks. You can also visit Heather on her Instagram by clicking here. Keep up the good work preserving your journey one photo at a time!

You Are My Sunshine by Dawn Woleslagle

I hope this sweet card adds a bit of sunshine into your day; it certainly did for me! Who wouldn’t feel the love that was put into this handmade treasure? What a beautiful way to remind someone that they really do brighten your day.

Capture Life by Andrea Murdock

I have a thing for cameras, so this artsy card really caught my eye. I love how Andrea used embossing paste and a camera stencil to create the subtle texture in the background without adding any bulk, leaving a perfect card to send in the mail. The Unity Stamp ‘Angie’s Camera’ and some copic markers were used to create the whimsy focal point. What a perfect example of how easy it is to create an artsy fun card in no time.

I hope you’ve been inspired to put one of your handmade treasures in the mail today! After all, who doesn’t love to receive a card through old-fashioned snail mail? 😉

Altered Cigar Box by Alicia O’Bryant

I love altering cigars boxes; they’re like a blank wooden canvas ready to take on a new life and they really do make the best place to store little pieces of this and that jewlery, little Pishkys, etc. (you know what I mean).

Altered Cigar Box

There’s nothing like altering a well made cigar box to get those creative juices flowing again!  For an easy to follow tutorial with lots of lovely pics, click here and I will take you over to the Quick Quotes blog. Have fun designing a unique treasure box of your very own. Cilantro Lime Shrimp

Cilantro and lime make this simple shrimp dish outstanding and it takes just minutes to make! This yummy shrimp is perfect in a nice summer salad, delicious over rice or pasta, or how about in a taco?
