Ghols Just Want To Have Fun

Welcome back, my crafty friends!  The weather here in Utah has become chilly, and with days like today I really enjoy staying inside and crafting in my office.  I hope you will be able to spend your day creating something you’ll love.  I just love this time of year!  Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and since it’s coming soon, I thought it would be fun to share a few festive projects with you today.  I hope you will enjoy each one.  Remember, it isn’t too late to create some of your Halloween projects for the year!

Dream Chaser By Missy Whidden

Isn’t it funny how one scrap of paper can inspire an entire layout?  Are you ready to do some great things with your products?  Hopefully this layout will give you some added inspiration.  Who doesn’t love a little extra color in their world?  Even though there are a lot of beautiful details and dimension to this layout, the photo is still the first thing your eye is drawn to.  I love how Missy went around the edges of the leaves with some white gesso, and then added gold Color Shine and a few gelatos to add color around the edges.  Also notice the metallic gold machine stitching through the center of each leaf.

Dream Chaser

Missy really created a masterpiece.  Most important, remember there are no set rules when crafting, just have fun with it.  I highly recommend stopping by Little Nugget Creations where you will find a video tutorial on how Missy put her layout together.  The possibilities are endless!  Give it a try you will love the results!

Look A Bit Frightened By Anna-Karin

Halloween is such a perfect opportunity to be creative.  With a little help from our crafty friend Anna-Karin, you can make some spooktacular tags to add to your yummy Halloween treats.  It is also a time when a lot of photos will be taken, so let’s get them off your phones and cameras and into an adorable Halloween mini album.  Let’s take this fun tag a step further and create a mini album out of it.  Just add a few more pages behind the tag and you will create a darling mini album.  What a great way to show off your fun and unique costumes, along with a festive celebration of Halloween.  Don’t you just love a project that can be used in several different ways?

Sundays With Lorraine

Good day to all my crafty friends and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper!  I hope you are enjoying a nice, carefree weekend and I’m glad that you’ve found your way into your craft room. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to share a little inspiration from some of the most talented people in our industry, so sit back, relax, and enjoy today’s creative therapy!

Sanctuary Layout By Jan Hobbins

Have you had the opportunity to play with the new Sizzix 3-D Embossing Folders? I love all the added texture that they bring to this amazing layout. 3-D Embossing Folders are a bit thicker than your traditional embossing folders and leave a deeper, more pronounced 3-D effect. A little something I picked up from Jan that I’d like to share is that when you’re using these embossing folders, you will need to adjust your plates (Sizzix Sandwich) before you run it through your die cut machine. Instead of using two cutting plates you will only need one to compensate for the thickness of the embossing folder.

If you’d like more information along with a complete supply list, click here and I will be happy to take you over to Jan’s blog In My Own Imagination so you can follow along as she shares step-by-step instructions along with some great pics on how this gorgeous layout came together. I hope you’ve been inspired to sit down and create that next page in your scrapbook.

Mr & Mrs. Card By Natalia Valkovskaya

How clever of Natalia to die cut her own flowers out of Inkadinkado’s masking paper to create this soft, elegant background. The masking paper is perfect for creating dimensional and resist effects with your stamps and as you can see, is the perfect tool for masking techniques. Don’t you love it when a card this beautiful comes together so quickly? Think of all the wonderful dies you have! This technique really opens up all kinds of options.

I hope you’ve been inspired to break out your favorite dies and inks and create your own unique background papers. What a great way to get a little extra mileage of your precious dies and stamps! Big hugs to Natalia for sharing this great tip.

Ombre Toolbox Tutorial By Anna-Karin

I absolutely fell in love with what Anna-Karin created with the Sizzix Scoreboard Toolbox Die! This puppy is on my wish list to purchase at our Texas Stamp & Scrapbook Expo this weekend. 😉 I just checked and It’s Cheaper Than has it on sale for $31.99 online. In case you’re wondering, the design dimensions of the toolbox are 9 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ – 1 1/2″ x 1 1/8″. How perfect to fill with a little pisky (gift) or some sweet treats. This is one die you will really get some use out of.

I’d like to send out a virtual hug to Anna-Karin for being such a constant inspiration to her fellow paper crafters, she really has outdone herself on this adorable toolbox. I highly recommend stopping by the Layers Of Ink Blog so you can follow along as she shares step-by-step instructions on how this project came together. Be prepared to take notes – she has lots of tips and techniques to share and I’m pretty sure you’re going to be introduced to some must-have supplies that you might not have seen yet, like the Eileen Hull Blends by ColorBox and those amazing stamps by Darkroom Door to name a few.

Skillet Chicken Cordon Bleu with Creamy Dijon Sauce

If you like Chicken Cordon Bleu but not all the fuss it takes to prepare it the traditional way, then you’re going to adore Jaclyn’s simplified version. I love that it only uses one pan for the chicken and the sauce! Less time spent cleaning up means more time in our craft room.

Click here and I will take you over to the Cooking Classy Blog so you can print out the recipe. I recommend printing out several copies because your friends will want to know how you made it. By the way, while you’re visiting Jaclyn be sure to check out her fabulous drink recipes; they are truly amazing. Big hugs to Jaclyn for helping us spice things up in the kitchen.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have an amazing week ahead of you. I’ll see you next Sunday unless I’m lucky enough to see you in person at one of our 19 Stamp & Scrapbook Expos. I’ll meet you at the Creativity Center and we can create something beautiful together. Hugs to all!

Wood pallet projects are very popular, but have you ever considered combining wood with paper and photos?  This clip board idea is fabulous, fun to work with, and versatile, making it easy to change out projects for the seasons and holidays.

Photo Display

This is certainly a fun way to display some of your precious photos, along with using a few of your favorite scrapbooking supplies. Gina found these wood pallets in the dollar section of Target, and it was the perfect size to turn into a photo frame.  This is certainly something I want to try!  Thank you, Gina, for wonderful inspiration and a beautiful project.  Take a few minutes and visit Gina at Crate Paper Blog.  You will see step-by-step instructions on how she put this fabulous project together.  Have fun creating!

Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice

Autumn really has a gift for amazing coloring skills along with skill with inked backgrounds.  She used Distress Inks and added some water flicks to give the card a grunge look.  Autumn added some die cut leaves and vintage seam binding for a fun, simple card.  Don’t you just feel the inspiration from this card?  Let’s pop on over to Sew Paper Paint blog where you will find many more of Autumn’s fabulous projects.

Quilling Friendly Ghost By Anna-Karin Evaldsson

Since it’s October, it’s time for some spooky fun!  This fun, festive card was created using the quilling technique.  Quilling consists of rolling, shaping, and arranging narrow strips of paper into fabulous designs.  What an outstanding embellishment to give your card a pop! This is such a fun card that really portrays the spirit of Halloween.

Quilling Friendly Ghost

Anna-Karin did such a fabulous job using the Pensive Alphabet cling stamp set for her background.  Don’t you just love those cute little ghosts against the Halloween colors in the background? The detail on this card just takes it up to another level.  Such lovely work by Anna-Karin! This is a perfect card to send out this Halloween season.  If you want to learn more about how this card was made, click here and I will take you over to Layers of Ink, where Anna-Karin will share the steps to make this outstanding Halloween card.

Recycled DVD’s By Debbie Thompson

Do you have a lot of old DVD’s laying around that you really don’t use anymore?  You just don’t know what to do with them but don’t want to throw them away?  Let’s recycle them and turn them into something beautiful!  Yes, that’s right, you can create this beautiful Mosaic Tile Birdbath just by using cast-off DVD’s.

Recycled DVD's

Another reason to use recycled contents is not only creating something beautiful, but also products do not end up in a landfill.  Gather up all of your old DVDs that you don’t use and begin to create something beautiful for your home.

Paper Leather Inspired Layout By Anna-Karin

Have you had the opportunity to play with Sizzix paper leather? It really is one of those “need it in your life” crafting supplies!  You can ink it, emboss it, stamp on it, sew it, and run it through your printer just to name a few ways to use it. It’s very strong, hence the name paper leather. It’s perfect for light weight sewing projects as well as on your scrapbooking and card making.  I am totally addicted! (Did I mention that it also comes in multiple colors, too?) I love how Anna-Karin used the paper leather to not only create the unique background, but also to make those adorable dimensional flowers .Paper Leather and Inksheets Tutorial

The background panels are white paper leather and she used Eileens Hulls’ dies and embossing folders together with black Ink sheets to create the patterns. Ink sheets turn your wafer thin dies and embossing folders into stamps, which is so cool! The techniques here work great for so many different types of projects. I’m thinking they would be a great way to create your own unique pocket page cards for your pocket page albums. 😉 I’d like to send out a virtual hug to Anna-Karin for being a constant inspiration to her fellow paper crafters. Click here and I would be honored to take you over to the Layers Of Ink Blog so that you can follow along as Anna-Karin shares step-by-step how she created this darling layout.

Saturdays With LeAnn

Well, another week has flown by and I do hope you all had a wonderful week.  It is so fun this time of year to start planning those fall projects, so sit back, relax, and enjoy. It is time to show you some fun projects that will bring oodles of creative inspiration to your day!

Captured Moments By Cathy Cafun

Today I want to inspire you with this beautiful layout that has a lovely vintage/shabby chic feel.  I love the soft muted brown, cream, and blue colors, with a beautiful range of floral and textures that give it that rustic feel.  This layout has all the components of a perfect page.  Micro-beads are a fabulous way to add more texture to your layout.  Cathy used a touch of gold micro-beads on the leaves by dipping a small brush in clear gloss varnish and randomly brushing over the leaves, which really gives them a pop.

Captured Moments

Cathy added a beautiful lacy chipboard coated with Dusty Attic acrylic paint behind the photo to give it a lovely, feminine touch.  She finished it off by adding a touch of lace to the torn layers and hessian twine to frame the photo. This definitely will pop and draw your eyes to the photo.  I hope you have been inspired by this beautiful layout.  Let’s pop on over to “Cathy Can’t Help Herself” where you will find additional details on how this fabulous page was created.  You will find yourself so inspired by Cathy and her wonderful talent.

Blessed By Kay Miller

This card certainly will brighten anyone’s day!  The beautiful watercolored background was created by using Peerless watercolors, then splattered with a little bit of red.  The “Blessed” sentiment is layered three times, adding some of the Fancy Foliage Detail die cuts, giving the the card a pretty, fall flair.

This is such a great time of year to feel blessed, so I hope this beautiful card has inspired you to create one of your own handmade designs and mail it off to someone special.  Click here and I will take you on over to My Joyful Moments so Kay can share all of her products that she used in designing her sweet card.

Saturdays With LeAnn

Good morning friends and crafters, and a very happy Saturday to you all!  Today I hope you will enjoy some projects that I found to be inspiring to me, and I hope they will be to you as well.  Sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Joy And Happiness By Dana Tatar

Today I would like to share this beautiful layout created by the very talented Dana Tatar, who always inspires me with her talent.  The soft richness of this gorgeous layout is to die for.  When creating layouts, being able to add lots of layers isn’t always as easy as it seems.  As you can see on this stunning layout, Dana has great talent when it comes to layering.  When looking at a scrapbook layout you first want to be drawn to the photos, then take in all the beautiful surroundings of embellishments and details.  Dana always has just the right amount to complement her photo and not overshadow it.

Joy And Happiness

When you are using black and white photos, you can add in some different colors of your choice. This will allow your photos to pop on your layout.  For a shabby chic look, you can add in very neutral colors that will also soften your photos.  This is definitely one of those layouts that has perfectly placed embellishments and fine details.  This beautiful layout really jumped out at me and I knew I just had to share it with you!

Thanks By Julia Stainton

I love how stamps give us endless possibilities for being creative1  Julia created this darling card with the focal image from stamping and die-cutting Flashy Florals.  If you are looking for a background stamp that adds texture, goes with anything, and doesn’t take away from your design, you will want to purchase the Scattered Surface Background stamp.  These fun items were used to create this soft and beautiful card.

To finish off the design, Julia added lots of texture in the form of paint splatter, and flicked the glitter paint over the surface.  I highly recommend stopping by Belle Papier to see just how easily this sweet card came together.  I want to say a big thank you to Julia for being such an inspiration to all of us paper crafters.  This is certainly one of those cards you could make multiples of; just leave off the sentiments until you know what the occasion is.  This way you will be ready for anything!

Textured Water Color Journal By Anna Karin

I am a crazy fan of anything done with watercoloring techniques.  There are so many different wate coloring mediums to choose from that you will never go wrong in trying out several types.  On this beautiful card, Anna used the Winsor Newton Cotman Watercolors along with Tim Holtz rubber stamps sets titled Cracks & Specks, Typography, Urban Chic, and Mini Ornates. This created different techniques to get some interesting textures. What isn’t there to love, right?  This is one of those beautiful journals that would be so nice to set out and let people admire your talent!

Textured Water Color

It is time to break out those stamps, distress inks, spray mists, and get ready to create a fun journal.  There is so much more to this beautiful project than meets the eye.  Click here and I will take you over to spend some time with Anna as she shares just how easily this work of art will come together.  You will be so inspired by her techniques, so I know you won’t want to miss out on this one!

Jam Jar Gift Set By Sonia Thomason

It is just about time for canning season.  With that said, when I stumbled onto this cute Jam Jar Gift Set I knew I had to make this.  There is nothing quite like a homemade gift!  What a perfect way to have different labels on each jar, as well as a personalized tag.  I’m thinking ahead – can you imagine this for a Christmas gift?  (Boy that was hard to say!)  This could even be fun to make up some toppings for ice-cream. Yummy!

Jam Jar Gift Set

There are so many possibilities for creating your own fun gift set.  Decorate a wooden box that will fit four jars.  Add a topper and label using the Bon Appetit collection from Kaiser Kraft.  So cute and so easy!  Thank you to Sonia Thomason for sharing this fun project.

Coconut Pudding Trifle by Glory Albin

I was searching for a dessert with coconut to make for my husband since coconut is his favorite, and I stumbled upon this recipe.  Let me tell you – this was so yummy!  If you are a coconut lover this is one you must make.  Click here and I will take you over to Glorious Treats to copy your recipe.  You will love this and so will the ones you serve it to.

Coconut Pudding Trifle

Sweet, cool, creamy, crunchy is what this delicious Coconut Pudding Trifle is.  This fabulous recipe starts out with homemade coconut pudding, then is layered with fresh whipped cream and a macadamia nut crumble.  It doesn’t get better than this!  For a fun summer treat serve it in mason jars.  This is something you can even pack in the ice chest and bring along for a picnic or BBQ.

Well, my friends, I hope this has been a fun-filled Saturday for you and you enjoy the rest of your weekend.  As always, thank you for stopping by Weekly Scrapper and sharing a part of your day with me  I will see you back next Saturday.  Have a fantastic week ahead!
