Latest & Greatest with Waffle Flower Stamps

Hey friends, Becki here to share with you a card that I created using a fun stamp set from our Latest & Greatest Stamping workshop. I used the Waffle Flower Flora Cat Play stamp set.

If you’re a cat lover, this stamp set must be in your collection. It’s a beautiful stamp set. Waffle Flower always has such adorable designs. This card is very simple with 3 stamped images (the cat, the butterfly, and the sentiment) with black pigment ink. I chose pigment ink because I wanted to watercolor the flowers, balloons, and butterfly. The “life is boring when you are not around” is so cute! I added a little bit of shimmer to the card with a Wink of Stella pen.

If you haven’t tried a Wink of Stella brush pen, you must try it! It is the perfect way to add a little bit of sparkle to any project. The patterned paper I used on this card is from Fancy Pants Designs. It’s the Family & Co.collection. I’ve been using this collection a lot lately. Its so fun to play with and so versatile. Did you see the other pet card I created with this collection? You can find it HERE. This Latest & Greatest: Stamping workshop featuring Waffle Flower stamps will also be taught at our upcoming show in Schaumburg. We would love to see you there!

Card Swappin’ With Dave in St. Paul, Minnesota

Hello to all of my wonderful card making friends!  I hope you are ready to get inspired again to make some wonderful cards that will be appreciated for a long time.  What inspires you to sit down and make a card?  Is it a special birthday coming up for a friend or family member?  Is there a special occasion coming up and you want to give the special gift of a card?  All of us get inspired in so many different ways.

I know that for me I enjoy taking Sunday afternoons when I have time to sit in my crafting room to create cards.  Now that may mean that I go through my paper and embellishments to begin creating my cards.  Or it may mean that it is a time for me to sit down and think about a special person that could really use a pick-me-up and create them a card.  The most important part of this time I take for card making is that it is my “ME” time.  And we all need “ME” time!  I know that a lot of you are on the go and hardly have time to relax.  Make your card making time your “ME” time and I think you will see how inspired and creative you will become.

At the past few shows I have seen some amazing cards with such creativity.  A card that I thought was very cute was a card that had a play on the word “chicken.”  The card read “Just Chicken In On You.”  What a fun way to say “I hope you are doing OK”!  This would put a big smile in someone’s day.  See if you can come up with some saying using a play on words like “chicken.”  This turns card making into fun making!

At our recent show in St. Paul this adorable card made by Karen Just shows the cute “Just Chicken On You” sentiment.  (See, I knew it would make you smile!)  Did you notice how personalized this card really is since her last name is Just?  She is truly saying “I’m checking in on you.”  I just love these types of meaningful cards.

Lori Dorsey created this elegant card for a special birthday.  This card is going to make someone’s special day even brighter with all the love and care that went into making it. I like how the May stamp was included in the card for this special May birthday card.  Elements like this add that little extra “WOW” factor to the person receiving the card.

Now that you are inspired to make some cards, pick that special time and day just for your “ME” time.  There is not a gift more special to give yourself than making a hand made card for someone special.  When you make someone else happy, some of that joy cannot help but rub off on yourself!

Happy card making!

Dave

Come Crop with us at Stamp and Scrapbook Expo!

Hello Stamp & Scrapbook Expo croppers, I’m Tina one, of the crop hostesses. I’m so excited to introduce you to a new series here on the Weekly Scrapper blog. This series will keep you updated on what’s happening at our famous crops.  We see lots of great storage ideas, costumes, and table decorations for the crop contests we host, not to mention some really amazing work traveling around the shows.  I hope to share a glimpse of this with you twice a month here on the Weekly Scrapper Blog.

Have you ventured out to a crop lately?  Better yet, have you joined us at one of our crops at Stamp & Scrapbook Expo?  Are you wondering what you can expect from one of our crops?  Fun and excitement, to say the least!

Our crops give you the space and time to work at your own pace on your own projects.  It also gives you the capability to use your space as a home base during the Expo.  You can come and go at your leisure, dropping heavy shopping bags off at your table, leaving your big items while you take a class, enjoying lunch at your seat, or even just taking a load off your feet, but the best part is socializing with your friends. Not to mention contests and PRIZES!!  And who doesn’t love prizes?

We have an increasing number of husbands joining their wives at the crops as well.  It’s about time they realize our obsession is addicting yet relaxing… and they get it now!  Plus, just think of all the bags your hubby can hold for you if he goes! Or maybe all the extra stuff he will buy for you, or wait a minute, just think of all the supplies you can share now!   This is a trend I hope to see grow more in the future!

Don’t have a single friend who scrapbooks or makes cards?  No problem, this is a perfect opportunity to come and make some new friends who love it as much as you do. In all my years as a crop host I have seen many friendships blossom and grow from introductions they have made at the crop.  It makes me so happy to see new relationships being formed, all because someone made a crafty friend at the crop.

How do you make crafty friends at the crops?  You can always start by visiting our Facebook group page for the location of the expo you want to visit.  Start by being active in the group.  In New Jersey they started to wear Facebook buttons to identify themselves at the Expo because they all became such great friends online they wanted to continue the online friendships in person.  Lots of people always post on the Facebook page if they are looking for table-mates to sit with them at the crop.  It’s a good way to reach out to other crafters going to the same Expo as you.  Don’t need to make any more friends?  You can come alone!  Plenty of people just need a crafty place to get a lot of work done and that is okay, too!  People do it all the time and enjoy themselves just as much.

Are you a card maker? A stamper? A scrapbooker? A jewelry maker? A planner?  Are you just crafty in general?  This is the place for you!  Crops allow you to be inspired and to create.  Are you just crafty in general?  The Thursday Mega Make & Take Extravaganza might be the crop for you.  What exactly happens at the MMTE crop?  Pure bliss that is the best way to describe it – heaven!  Our VIP vendors come over to the crop and do a different make and take with you every half hour.  All of the projects vary, so it accommodates a little bit of everything crafty.  You learn lots of new techniques, experiment with different products, and learn more about what that vendor offers.  You are also eligible to shop with them at the special 4:00 pm shopping time and then after each VIP vendor present their project, you can shop with them after their presentation for special products and deals.

Each VIP vendor takes pure joy in teaching you their project.  The make it fun and entertaining while teaching you valuable tips all at the same time.

The Make and Take Extravaganza is almost like taking a ton of mini classes all in one night!  It is our most popular crop night and commonly sells out.  If you are contemplating joining us for a crop, this crop would definitely convince you to come!  Our VIP vendors take such pride in teaching you their projects, and it is a perfect time to get a little insight on what might be offered on the show floor the next day.

Gather your unfinished projects, or even your up-to-date projects, pack your stuff, and head on over to one of our crops. Where else can you crop with a few hundred of your closest craftiest friends, be able to shop for the latest and greatest products, score on great deals, and have a chance at winning prizes?  At a Stamp & Scrapbook Expo Crop, of course!

I can’t wait to tell you all about the excitement happening at the crops here on the Weekly Scrapper. I’ll see you here on the blog AND at the crops. Don’t forget to sign up for a crop at a Stamp & Scrapbook Expo near you. Please come find me and say “Hi”!

Latest & Greatest Stamping with Fancy Pants AND The Stamps of Life

Latest & Greatest Stamping with Fancy Pants AND The Stamps of Life by @jbckadams for @scrapbookexpo #SSBE2017 #Stamping #cardmaking #beckiadams

Hey there Stamp & Scrapbook Expo friends and fans, Becki here, for another edition of Inspiration Station. I’m happy that you found your way to the Weekly Scrapper blog. The project I have to share with you today is using products from our Latest & Greatest Stamping workshop. These are products that workshop attendees will receive in the Latest & Greatest Stamping workshop at a few of our shows this Summer. Today, I’m working with a stamp/die set from Stephanie Barnard and the Stamps of Life AND patterned papers/embellishments from the Fancy Pants Family & Co. collection . Usually, I’m not a stamper. But recently, I’ve had a lot of fun working on a few stamping projects. When I first received this cute puppy stamp/die set, I knew that I had to make a card (or several cards) with it. After I stamped and colored the puppy image, I knew that it would go perfectly with the papers in the 6×6 paper pad from the Family & Co. collection. My preferred method of coloring stamped images is with Tombow Dual Brush Pens and a water brush. These markers come in a vast array of colors. I have a couple sets of markers in my stash and many more on my wish list. The sentiment for this card is stamped on a striped tag from the Family & Co. collection. Then, I adhered the stamped puppy to the bottom of the tag and adhered the tag/puppy cluster to layers of patterned papers to create the front of the card. The finishing touch on this card is a few sprinkles of navy shimmer ink. In my opinion a few sprinkles of ink is the perfect finishing touch to a LOT of projects. This card turned out so much better than I imagined. Watch for more projects using this stamp and die set from me. I already have a few more stamped images on my desk waiting to be colored. Thank you for stopping by for another edition of Inspiration Station. Make sure you sign up for Latest & Greatest workshops at a Stamp & Scrapbook Expo near you! You’ll LOVE these workshops!
