Ghols Just Want To Have Fun

Welcome back, my crafty friends!  The weather here in Utah has become chilly, and with days like today I really enjoy staying inside and crafting in my office.  I hope you will be able to spend your day creating something you’ll love.  I just love this time of year!  Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and since it’s coming soon, I thought it would be fun to share a few festive projects with you today.  I hope you will enjoy each one.  Remember, it isn’t too late to create some of your Halloween projects for the year!

Dream Chaser By Missy Whidden

Isn’t it funny how one scrap of paper can inspire an entire layout?  Are you ready to do some great things with your products?  Hopefully this layout will give you some added inspiration.  Who doesn’t love a little extra color in their world?  Even though there are a lot of beautiful details and dimension to this layout, the photo is still the first thing your eye is drawn to.  I love how Missy went around the edges of the leaves with some white gesso, and then added gold Color Shine and a few gelatos to add color around the edges.  Also notice the metallic gold machine stitching through the center of each leaf.

Dream Chaser

Missy really created a masterpiece.  Most important, remember there are no set rules when crafting, just have fun with it.  I highly recommend stopping by Little Nugget Creations where you will find a video tutorial on how Missy put her layout together.  The possibilities are endless!  Give it a try you will love the results!

Look A Bit Frightened By Anna-Karin

Halloween is such a perfect opportunity to be creative.  With a little help from our crafty friend Anna-Karin, you can make some spooktacular tags to add to your yummy Halloween treats.  It is also a time when a lot of photos will be taken, so let’s get them off your phones and cameras and into an adorable Halloween mini album.  Let’s take this fun tag a step further and create a mini album out of it.  Just add a few more pages behind the tag and you will create a darling mini album.  What a great way to show off your fun and unique costumes, along with a festive celebration of Halloween.  Don’t you just love a project that can be used in several different ways?

Look A Bit Frightened

Anna-Karin used some fun techniques for her background.   She started out with a die cut tag and then added her patterned paper and brushed gesso over it. To give it a distressed look, Anna-Karin used the Slate stencil and Opague Crackle Paste. I am sure that your creative mind is spinning with all the different techniques that Anna-Karin used, so click here and I will be happy to take you over to spend some quality time with Anna-Karin and her fabulous blog Layers Of Ink.  Enjoy craftin,g my friends!

Dresser With Fabric Inlay By Christy James

Do you have an old dresser hanging around that you don’t want to get rid of because it has been in the family for a long time? Once you restore this piece of furniture you are going to have a great appreciation for it since it will no longer just be sitting in a storage area! If you love this project but don’t have a dresser, you can always pick one up very cheap at a garage sale or thrift store.

Your dresser with a fabric inlay can be so charming and add a special flare to your room. The fun part of this is that you can use any fabric of your choice, along with painting the dresser a custom color to match your décor. Chocolate Leaf Cupcake

These wonderful fall cupcakes are so amazing and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share them with you. I’d like to thank Beth from Tricks Of The Trade for sharing her secret way of  making Chocolate Leaf Cupcakes. Be sure to visit Beth anytime you need some sweet inspiration.

Beth found leaves that were the right size and shape, then she cleaned the leaves up. She put red, yellow, orange, and brown Wilton’s Melts in separate bowls. Once melted, she used them to make streaks of colors across the leaves and blended them with a paint brush. She let them dry just a little before covering with a second layer of the brown to hold it all together. When they were completely dry, she carefully peeled off the real leaf to see the beautiful imprint. Make your favorite recipe for your cupcakes and frost them, then add these beautiful leaves to the top for a fun fall treat.

Sit back and enjoy the compliments you will receive from these unique cupcakes.

Thank you for stopping by!

Christmas Presents Cupcake

The holidays are coming and it is that time of year to start planning yummy goodies for all your parties! These adorable and delicious cupcakes will be the talk of the party, along with adding color and charm to any table.

Christmas Cupcakes

These fun cupcakes will be a super treat for your little ones as well. They are easier to make than you might think, so let them join in on the fun of decorating. You’ll be creating memories that will be cherished forever!

  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients. Add the eggs, water, oil, vinegar and vanilla; mix well. Pour into 18 greased or paper-lined muffin cups.

For filling, beat cream cheese and sugar in another mixing bowl. Add egg and salt; mix well. Fold in chocolate chips. Drop by tablespoonfuls into center of each cupcake. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25- 30 minutes. Cool completely and then place in refrigerator to chill.

  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract
  • 2 pounds confectioner’s sugar

1.  In a large bowl stir together the shortening and corn syrup. Mix in the salt and vanilla flavoring, then gradually mix in the confectioner’s sugar until it is a stiff dough. If you are using a stand mixer, use the dough hook attachment, otherwise knead by hand. If the dough is sticky, knead in more confectioner’s sugar until it is smooth. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

2.  To use, roll out on a clean surface that has been dusted with confectioner’s sugar until it is 1/8 inch thick. Cut strips for your ribbons and create squares for your presents. The bow was created using a tiny part of a cookie cutter. Place the presents on the chilled cupcakes and add gold beads around the presents. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Apple Pie Cupcakes

Wow, doesn’t this photo make your mouth water?  With all those wonderful fall apples, it’s time to make something really yummy with them. This fabulous Apple Pie Cupcake is such a great treat for fall! These taste so good, not to mention the lovely aroma of cinnamon and apple baking in your oven.

Apple Pie Cupcakes

  • 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 large Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored, and diced into 1/3 inch cubes
  • 1/2 Teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 Teaspoon  salt
  • Juice from half of a lemon (about 1 1/2 Tablespoons)
  • 1/4 Cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 Cup + 2 Tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 (can 12.4 oz)  Pillsbury refrigerated cinnamon rolls
  • Whipped cream
  • Caramel flavored syrup

Apple Pie Cupcakes

Start by making a simple streusel topping for the cupcakes. Mix together butter, flour, brown sugar, and nuts.

Apple Pie Cupcakes

Peel and dice the apples. Granny Smith apples were used here, but you can also use another good baking apple. When selecting apples, go for those that are nice and crisp.

Apple Pie Cupcakes

Saute the apples in a large saute pan over medium to high heat. Melt a tablespoon or two of butter, add apples, and cook about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until softened. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

Apple Pie Cupcakes

Cook 5 minutes longer or until tender, then stir in lemon juice.

Apple Pie Cupcakes

Heat oven to 400 F. Grease muffin tins slightly. Separate dough into 8 rolls. Flatten each into a 4 inch round and place into muffin cup.

Apple Pie Cupcakes

Divide apple filling evenly onto rolls in muffin cups. Divide streusel topping mixture evenly over apples.

Apple Pie Cupcakes

Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until bubbly and tops are lightly browned. Cool slightly before removing from muffin cups. Cool completely, about 30 minutes. Serve cupcakes topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel syrup.  A big thank you goes out to Joanne and Adam Gallagher for sharing this wonderful recipe for us to enjoy.

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you have a fun-filled day baking!

Boozy Gummy Bear Cupcakes

These festive sweet treats were made for adults but can easily be adapted for the little ones by simply omitting the secret ingredient (gummies soaked in vodka).

 boozy gummy bear cupcakes

The cupcakes themselves are very simple – just funfetti boxed mix topped with whipped vanilla buttercream; you can easily change the flavor to incorporate your favorite. These cupcakes make an awesome presentation that is equally at home at a birthday party for the little ones or a party for adults. If you’re not interested in the adult version, you could fill these champagne flutes with M&M’s or other colorful candy for a really cute dessert display. (Just don’t forget the sprinkles!)

Standard muffin tin cupcakes fit perfectly inside plastic champagne flutes that can be easily found at  your favorite party store. These sweet treats are sure to be a hit.

If you are interested in the recipe, be sure to visit Erica’s Sweet Tooth blog. (After all, us big kids need sweets too!)

Thanks for the visit and I wish you a sweet and fun-filled day!
