Vellum Overlay Cards

Do you have spring fever?  I know I sure do!  After the winter most of us had, I am sure you are ready for some beautiful spring-themed projects.  With spring on it’s way, it is also a reminder that Easter is just around the corner.  When I think about spring or Easter, pretty pastel colors and flowers come to mind.  So with that said, I would like to share some fun projects using flowers.  I hope today you will be inspired with these fun spring projects.

Best Days Of Our Lives By Alicia McNamara

We all know how much texture and dimension adds to a layout, card, or mixed media project. Alicia has definitely demonstrated this in this layout. We often use the term “Happy Papercrafting” because we know the opportunities with paper are so much more than just on the page.  Today, Alicia shares her gorgeous example of beautiful altered art. I would also like to share a tip that will help you when creating your outstanding layouts.  TIP: Choose a focal point on your layout and then create embellishments that will continue to tell the story from that point.  It is amazing how well this works!

Best Days Of Our Lives

Alicia’s layout is full of all kinds of beautiful elements.  It is really light and colored with some pastels, but there are also some black parts here and there to give it a nice contrast.  I absolutely love that!  Alicia adds wording perfectly and it tells so much about the photo.  This layout is certainly an eye catcher and is very well done.  Let me take you over to Time to Create where you can write down all of the products you will need to start your own layout.  Take some time while you are at Alicia’s blog to see more of her beautiful creations.  You will certainly leave her blog feeling very inspired.

Vellum Overlay Cards By Jennifer McGuire

Not sure how to use vellum?   Do you ever struggle using vellum?  Here’s a fun technique using vellum that will turn your curiosity (or struggles) into having fun and being very creative.  You will enjoy working with vellum so much that I guarantee you will make many more projects using it. These beautiful cards created by Jennifer McGuire have a vellum overlay that give each one a very soft look.

Vellum Overlay Cards

Jennifer started her cards by simply using white embossing powder to emboss the floral image on vellum.  There is a little bit of glitter added to the lines of the flower for extra interest and a pearl added to the center. Adding some color to her image, she started by stamping the layering floral image with the Altenew Beautiful Day Stamp Set using different shades of Altenew ink on a small note card.  Let me escort you over to watch Jennifer’s YouTube Video on how she created her card, along with her step-by-step instructions.  You are going to love every minute of her video.  Step out of your comfort zone and take some time to experiment and just have fun creating!

Absolutely Beautiful By Melissa Phillips

Cards might be little, but they are packed with so much inspiration.  This is one of those cards that can be so versatile.  Send it as a Spring, Hello, Birthday, Thinking Of You, or even an Easter Card.  Who wouldn’t love to receive this adorable card in the mail?

Absolutely Beautiful

Melissa’s card started with the word beautiful to create the theme for her card.  She used the Reverse Confetti You’re So stamp set for her sentiment.  The beauty of this stamp set is it has four uplifting words that can be mixed and matched to create numerous uplifting sentiments.  She also used the Blooms ‘N Buds stamp set to create the pretty blossoms.  For the background, Melissa used the XOXO Hearts Confetti Cuts.  Melissa’s creativity is amazing!  I love her combinations and the colors she chose are so pretty and perfect!  Click here and I will take you over to see more of Melissa’s wonderful talent and fabulous creations.

Enhanced Embossing Card

roree-header-1500-800x192
Hey, everyone! Roree here with another Make It! Monday project. Today I am sharing a card I created using some embossed cardstock and Tonic StudiosNuvo Embellishment Mousse.

roree-rumph_enhanced_embossing_card
I started by embossing a panel of blue cardstock with the Cricut Cuttlebug® Snow Dots embossing folder.

roree-rumph_enhanced_embossing_card_step1
Then with my fingertip, I lightly spread Pure Platinum Embellishment Mousse over the embossing on the cardstock panel.

This enhanced the embossing and gave it a shimmery silver look.

I added the panel to a card using paper from the Pebbles Winter Wonderland 6 x 6″ paper pad and some assorted embellishments from my stash.

You Are In My Prayers

This card was created using a digital stamp by Power Poppy called Rose And Chamomile.  The beauty of a digital stamp is that you can make multiple copies, rotate, and overlap them as necessary to get the shape you desire. This card is one that you could change the sentiment and give for any occasion.  Break out your markers or even your colored pencils.  You will have so much fun creating this card with the digital image.

Dry Embossing over Stamped Images

Hello, and happy Tuesday!

If you know me, you know I love dimension on my cards, and what better way than dry embossing?! I have quite a few embossing folders that I’ve collected over the years. I love that they add a soft dimension, yet the cards are still mailable. The subtle dimension adds an elegant look to what would be a just a plain background.

its-your-day1withsig

Here are some of my embossing folders that I’ve collected. I love using them, as they are so easy! You simply open up the folder, place your paper inside and close it, lay it on the tray of your embossing/cutting machine, like the Cuttlebug or Big Shot, and turn the handle. It creates an embossed or debossed look, depending on how you place your paper and what look you are going for. You can use the front or the back of the paper!

embossing-folders

I also love to stamp sentiments on my cards! Here I’ve combined the two techniques, stamping and embossing. This is what my significant other calls “Stambossing”! Isn’t he clever? Ha!

I first stamped the saying with Think Big Favorites #2 stamps by Papertrey Ink. Then I’ve inserted the card front into an embossing folder and ran it through my Cuttlebug die cutting machine. Last, I added the tag and chipboard elements over the top.

itsyourday2

The chipboard butterfly was also run through an embossing folder. Works like a charm on chipboard elements, too! You could even stamp on them before embossing, like I did on the card background.

I hope you will give this a try and leave a comment with a link to your card! I would love to visit you and see what you are making. Enjoy your week!
