Leaves Of Gold By Riikka Kovasin

It is so hard to believe we are in the first week of September.  With that said, fall will be rolling in on us soon; so now is the time to start thinking about those beautiful fall colors, pictures, and layouts.  Fall is such a wonderful time of the year with all of the beautiful vibrant colors, and I must mention cooler temperatures!  This beautiful layout created by Riikka will really inspire you to celebrate autumn.

Leaves Of Gold

In Riikka’s layout she made her own golden leaves to greet autumn and embellish her layout.  Using the same techniques she also created this outstanding card.  Tip:  When creating a layout take a few moments to use some of the supplies you have out to create a card.  You’ll find that you will always have cards on hand, and it is such a great way to use up your scraps!

Leaves Of Gold

I love the outstanding job that Riikka did on this layout and card.  Click here and I will take you over to Elizabeth Crafts and Designs where you will find a full step-by-step tutorial on how Riikka put this beautiful layout together.  Be sure and check out her blog Paperiliitin where you are sure to be inspired by many more of Riikka’s outstanding projects.  Hope this has inspired you as much as it did me. Latest & Greatest: Cool Tools with the Stamps of Life

Hey everyone! Roree here with today’s Make It! Monday post.

Our next show is this week in Duluth, GA on July 14th-15th. Stamp & Scrapbook Expo will be teaching three “Latest & Greatest” workshops at this show: Card Making, Cool Tools, and Stamping. We have lots of great products from some awesome manufacturers in these classes, and today I am going to be working with products from our Cool Tools workshop: The Stamps of Life‘s Exclusive Pillow Box Die Set.

If you take the class, you will receive the 7-piece die set designed by Stephanie Barnard:

I used the die set and The Stamps of Life’s 6 x 6 1/2″ Laugh Collection Patterned Paper Pad to create this pillow gift box:

After cutting the box shape out of patterned paper, I layered the small frame die over one of the pillow box’s sides and cut out a window. I then used the large frame die to cut a frame from vellum. I adhered the vellum on the inside of the box to create a frosted window.

I cut the sentiment using the “A Gift for You” die nested inside the small frame die and adhered the cut onto the vellum window. I finished by adding some baker’s twine and a fussy-cut whale from a sheet in the paper pad.

This set is perfect for so many different occasions and you can change the look and feel of your box by simply changing the papers you use.

This Latest & Greatest: Card Making workshop featuring The Stamps of Life’s Exclusive Pillow Box Die Set will be taught at our upcoming shows in Duluth, Kansas City, Santa Clara, Edison, and Schaumburg. We would love to see you there!

I hope you enjoyed today’s Make It! Monday project. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Latest & Greatest: Card Making with Paper House Productions

Hey everyone! Roree here with today’s Make It! Monday post.

Our next show is in Milwaukee, WI on April 21st-April 22nd! Stamp & Scrapbook Expo will be teaching three “Latest & Greatest” workshops at this show: Card Making, Cool Tools, and Stamping. We have lots of great products from some awesome manufacturers in these classes, and today I am going to be working with products from our Card Making workshop: Paper House ProductionsOne Big Happy Family collection.

For this triangle gift box project, I used the 12″ Cardstock Stickers sheet, the Mom Tags 12″ Double Sided Scrapbook Paper, and the Flock Together 12″ Acetate Paper:

I cut out the triangle box using my Cricut Explore® machine, Cricut Design Space®, and the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More® cartridge (Triangle Box #M35F59). I also hand cut a triangle from the Flock Together 12″ Acetate Paper to fit behind the window in the box.

I used double-sided tape to adhere the acetate behind the window.

I then adhered the bottom flap behind the acetate window.

The remaining flap then tucks closed so the box can be opened later.

I finished by adding a sentiment from the Mom Tags 12″ Scrapbook Paper, a floral sticker from the 12″ Cardstock Stickers sheet, and ribbon bow.

A perfect little gift box for Mother’s Day or any occasion where mom is concerned. 😉

This Card Making workshop featuring Paper House Productions’ One Big Happy Family collection will also be taught at our shows in Orlando FL, and Puyallup WA. We hope you can come join us at one of these shows. We would love to see you there!

I hope you enjoyed today’s Make It! Monday project. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Saturdays With LeAnn

Pointillism play

Saturdays-with-LeAnn

Hello, my crafty friends. It makes me so happy that with your busy schedule you still find some time to be creative and do the things you love.  I am blessed to have the opportunity to share some fun and wonderful projects with you today.  I hope you can sit back, relax, and enjoy some creative inspiration, because you deserve it!

Loved By You by Delaina Burns

Simple and elegant style is what Delaina Burns gives us today with this pretty layout.  I love the white stencil lettering on white cardstock using modeling paste.  White on white portrays such a elegant look and pops out the sentiment on a layout.

Loved By You

When I find a pretty scrapbook layout, I like to be drawn first to the photos, then take in all the beautiful embellishments and details.  The extras should always complement the photos.  I give a high five to Delaina for her lovely layouts.  Creating several layers can sometimes be difficult; its not as easy as it looks.  As you can see on this layout, Delaina has a talent for layering and adding in pretty details.  I highly recommend you stop by Delaina’s blog “Delaina’s Embellished Memories” anytime you need some inspiration; you will enjoy all her beautiful projects. Happy scrapbooking, my friends!

Congratulations by Julia Stainton

This week I have a fabulous card I want to share with you. I am really excited about this one!  I have had so much fun playing with my Die-namics Mini Fringe from My Favorite Things.  This die is a great way to add interest and texture to your projects.  You can create beautiful borders and edges as well as the cute paper tassels.  This is another one of those white on white elegant projects and the fringe die takes it up a notch.

Congratulations

One of the fun features of this card is the slide tab that you can pull out for an extra message.  Here’s a tip: there is nothing like a surprise!  Add an interactive element to your cards when you want them to be extra special!

Congratulations

This card will put a big smile on that new bride and groom.  Don’t you love a card that you can change it up a tiny bit and use it for other occasions?  A handmade card means more to people than you may realize and will always be treasured.  A big hug and thank you goes out to Julia for sharing her outstanding talent with us.  Click here and I will take you over to find the products you’ll need and how to create one of your own.

Pointillism Play by Heather Nichols

Are you wondering what pointillism is?  It’s an age-old painting technique where small strokes or dots of color are applied to a surface so that when viewed from a distance, they blend together.  A beautiful array of ink colors, a light touch, and a little patience are all you need to master this coloring technique.

Pointillism play

Today we have Heather Nichols showing how to take stamped images to a new level.  You will explore a new stamping technique using a polka dot stamp and other tools to apply color to the stamped image in a dot form to color them in. Layering the colored dots together creates wonderful blending opportunities. Click here and I will take you over to Heather’s full tutorial on how to do this fabulous technique.  While this technique takes some time and patience, the end results are so well worth the effort.  Be spot-on with your next coloring project by giving the pointillism technique a try.

Sweet Treats

Danielle header

Summertime is upon us, and I thought I would share a fun summery card and Sweet Shoppe treat/gift box to coordinate with it! To create these projects, I used the new Colorful Treats stamps, the new Tiny Town: Sweet Shoppe dies and the new Cover Plate: Scallops die, all of which will be available at PapertreyInk.com on July 15th at 10pm EST.

Sweet card2-800

For my sweet treat card, I used a new die called Cover Plate: Scallops. I die cut it with white cardstock and then used Copic markers to color the different scallops before attaching it to the card base! A lollipop and sentiment from the new Colorful Treats stamps and dies was used over the top! I colored in the lollipop with Copic markers, R20 and R29.

Sweet card3-800

Next is a fun little gift box made with the new Tiny Town: Sweet Shoppe dies. I couldn’t help but to use the same fun colors with my treat box as I did on the card.

treat box1-800

I cut the main box from the Tiny Town Basics dies, then the rest of the pieces are die cut with the new Tiny Town: Sweet Shoppe dies. The awning stripes are colored with a red Copic marker R29, then glued them over the top of the awning piece, and I did the same for the windows, door, flowers, sign and window boxes, all colored with Copics.

Inside the box is a little condiment cup full of Sweet Tarts. (It has a lid on it, so they don’t fall out.) The condiment cups fit perfectly! The box is tied closed with twine.

I hope you are enjoying your summer and getting much paper crafting time in! Have a great day!

Ribbon Spool Gift Box

Roree-header-1500-800x192Hey, everyone! Roree here with another Make It! Monday project. Today I am sharing a fun little gift box created using a recycled ribbon spool.

roree rumph_ribbon_spool_gift_box
First off, I started with an empty cardboard 1 1/2″ ribbon spool and some patterned paper.

roree rumph_ribbon_spool_gift_box_step1
I carefully pulled the ends off of the spool.

roree rumph_ribbon_spool_gift_box_step2
I cleaned up the edges and added a little paint to give them a more finished look.

roree rumph_ribbon_spool_gift_box_step3
I covered the outside of the spool’s center with a strip of patterned paper.

roree rumph_ribbon_spool_gift_box_step4
Disclaimer: I usually take photos of my projects as I go along with only a general idea of what I am going to make. Sometimes my ideas change as I am creating which causes me to add or remove steps. Originally, I had added patterned paper to the inside at the beginning of the process. I then realized that I needed to do this later on. And because I wasn’t thinking, I forgot to take a new picture after I removed the patterned paper. So please, pretend that the inside of the spool is unfinished. 😉

I cut out some circles from patterned paper to cover the ends of the spool (four in total, one for each side).

roree rumph_ribbon_spool_gift_box_step5
I adhered one of the ends to the bottom of the spool. I then cut a strip of ribbon (about 3″ or so in length) and adhered one end inside the center of the spool.

roree rumph_ribbon_spool_gift_box_step6
I adhered a strip of paper inside the spool to cover the end of the ribbon.

roree rumph_ribbon_spool_gift_box_step7
I cut another patterned paper circle the same width as the center of the spool, placed the circle over the top of the spool, and adhered the other end of the ribbon to it.

roree rumph_ribbon_spool_gift_box_step8
I then adhered the circle to the center of the remaining lid.

roree rumph_ribbon_spool_gift_box_step9
I put a few treats in the box, added a label sticker with a message, and put a handmade bow on top to finish.

roree rumph_ribbon_spool_gift_box_step10

roree rumph_ribbon_spool_gift_box_closeup2
I ended up with a cute gift box made from something I normally would have tossed in my recycle bin.
