Plaid Watercolor

Welcome back, my dear crafty friends, to Weekly Scrapper!  Don’t you just love Saturdays?  It is one of my favorite days of the week, and especially because I get to share my passion of crafting with you. I just love spending the day in my craft room and do the things I love to do!  I hope you will be able to take some time for yourself today and have fun with your crafting.

Best Weekend By Missy Whidden

When creating a layout, the photo itself is the major guide to your process.  Any time you are using a black and white photo, you can incorporate a lot of color on the remainder of the layout to balance the lack of color in the photo.  Have you ever noticed that black and white emphasizes the faces in the photo?  Missy did such an outstanding job on this layout.  The colors she used really give the photo a pop and helps it really stand out.

Best Weekend

Missy added some fun arrows and arranged them for her background, adhered them, then went over them with gesso.  She added some shimmerz paints, washi tape, and embellished with some die cuts, tags, sequins.  To top it off she did some machine stitching through the center of her arrows.  This is such a fun and eye catching layout!  Let me escort you over to Little Nugget Creations where you will find a step-by-step video, along with many more outstanding projects created by Missy.  You will always leave her blog feeling very inspired.

Plaid Watercolor By Debby Hughes

Today’s card is all about the plaid background. Can you believe this gorgeous plaid was created with watercolors?  You can get an intense background with watercolor paints!  Not all watercoloring has to be soft and subtle.  The beauty of plaids is that they can be used for both a masculine or feminine look.  I just love this plaid card; it is so eye-catching and a very fun technique! Handmade cards instantly brighten up anyone’s day.

Merry Christmas

Saturdays-with-LeAnn

Welcome back, my dear friends, to Weekly Scrapper!  Today is a special day because it is “World Card Making Day”!  The party started yesterday with our “Freebie Friday” post, so if you haven’t yet entered to win that great prize of cardmaking supplies, make sure to visit our post from Friday HERE. For today’s celebration we are featuring all cards, and as I share these beautiful ideas and great techniques, my hope is that you will find some wonderful inspiration.  Isn’t it hard to believe that it is the first day of October?  We are at the very beginning of the holiday season, and dare I say that I am already starting to get into the holiday spirit?!  Now is a good time to begin to think of your holiday cards so I included a beautiful Christmas card below. It’s never too early to start getting your ideas together.

Thanks By Loll Thompson

This card was created using a fun and unique technique called marbling. What a stunning way to create some soft colors by using shaving cream and re-inkers.  What a great effect; I absolutely love this technique! It never surprises me what fun ideas cardmakers come up with to use on projects.  This technique is also a wonderful way to create lovely backgrounds.  I think you will love this and be very happy with the end results.  And did I say it was easy, too?

Thanks

Marbling

The second card was made with the leftover piece from the die cut above, using the marbling effect for the background.  Don’t you just love it when something so simple comes together and looks so beautiful?  If you have never done the marbling technique, you must give it a try!  Be sure to stop by the Stamping With Loll blog so you can get your products for these gorgeous cards and create some of your own.  Have fun with this technique!

Thinking Of You By Debby Hughes

When I think of hydrangeas, I think of fall. These flowers and leaves are colored so beautifully, giving the card such an elegant look.  I just love stamping and watercoloring and they combine to make it possible to create a piece of art.  The completed project is like a tiny painting!

Thinking Of You

Debby has really outdone herself with this watercolored card.  I highly recommend you stopping by and checking out her other projects, too.  For the complete supply list on what Debby used to create this beautiful card so you can get started on one of your own, click here and I will be honored to escort you over to visit her blog, Lime Doodle Design.
