Carousel Card

Hello my dear friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper.  What a better way to round out your work week than with five amazing projects that I have gathered to share with you?  I hope today’s post will give you some great “WOW” inspiration from these fun projects (and of course a yummy dessert)!  Shall we get started?  Kick off those shoes, get comfortable, and relax, because here we go!

Dream By Tina Stepanova

You all know by now how much I love creative backgrounds, and an inked mixed media background is one of my favorites.  The combination of embossing powders, inks, and sprays really make a gorgeous background.  Some stamped images in the background really turns this into a beautiful masterpiece.  Think of all the possibilities you can do to create beautiful backgrounds!

Dream

You will find all kinds of inspiration from Tina Stepanova on her blog Dare To Create.  Click here and I will be happy to escort you over to her blog where you will find all kinds of inspiration.  The most important thing is to have fun when creating your backgrounds and layouts. Ok, now let’s get those creative minds to working!  Happy scrappin’!

Carousel Card By Kathy Clement

Did this whimsical card catch your eye as it did mine?  You can make this darling card for a very special occasion.  Choose unique papers and embellishments to design a card that is just perfect for that special person.   Kathy took it a step further and made it function as a mini folio.  This alone makes a perfect gift for any occasion.  Who wouldn’t love and appreciate receiving this beautiful card full of surprises and all the love that went into making it?!

Carousel Card

This is just a sneak peak of what you will see inside. Remove the little brown binder clip, and you will find that the front cover is just the beginning.   You just wait, you will totally love this card and will be anxious to make your own!

Carousel Card

Kathy created this fun tri-fold design using the Imagine Collection Kit from Authentique.  Are you dying right now to see how Kathy created this gorgeous card?  I am going to take you over to  Authentique’s blog where Kathy shows you every surprise she has created. On top of that, as an added bonus for you, Kathy also has a full step-by-step video tutorial.  You are going to love this project and I hope you will give this one a try.  You will certainly be inspired by Kathy.  Have fun creating, my crafty friends!

Quilt-Inspired Window By Allison Murray

Clear glass doesn’t coordinate with messy shelves!  Ready to hide away your mess, or just add some personality to the window panes on your cabinet?  You don’t need to get rid of that cabinet you are tired of, or even paint it to make it look different.  This is a perfect solution to give your cabinet a totally new look. I just fell in love with how covering the window panes with scrapbook paper brought so much charm to this piece of furniture.   Who would have ever thought to use scrapbook paper this way?

Quilt-Inspired Window

If you fell in love with this stunning cabinet and don’t have one in your home (but wished you did), visit one of your favorite thrift stores or a garage sale.  It is surprising what is available out there. Always remember that one person’s trash is another person’s treasure!  A little distressing, along with adding some fun scrapbooking paper to the window panes, will give you a beautiful piece of furniture for your home.  Let me escort you on over to Dream A Little Bigger where Allison will show you just how she covered her windows and made her cabinet so charming.  Can’t you just see this attractive piece in your home?

Peach Pie Cookies By Vera Zecevic

This cookie is the best of summer in a bite!  The taste of a pie but in the size of a cookie; you are going to fall in love with these scrumptious baked treats!  Peach Pie Cookies bring you the best of both worlds, the deliciousness of traditional peach pie with the convenience of a cookie – no fork required!  I promise you can’t eat just one or two!

Peach Pie Cookies

Make an extra batch and freeze them for cold winter evenings where all you want to think about is summer!  Peach Pie cookies are delicious no matter what the season is!  You can’t go wrong with this delicious recipe.  Click here and I will escort you on over to one of my favorite food blogs “Oh My Goodness Chocolate Desserts.”  I have to say that this will become one of your favorites as well.  You will love all of the wonderful desserts and recipes that Vera has to share!

I want to thank all of the fabulous designers for sharing such wonderful inspiration with us today.  Have a fabulous week ahead, and I hope to see you all back here next Saturday with more fun projects!  I always enjoy our crafty time together!

Sundays With Lorraine

Hello, my crafty friends and thank you for stopping by. I’ve just returned home from a mini marathon of shows – Atlanta, GA, Kansas City, MO and ending in beautiful Santa Clara, CA. I am happy to report that the Creativity Center was on fire and a fun time was had by all – hugs to all those creative people that I had the privilege of meeting in person.  You are the reason that the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo has been doing shows for 20 years. It’s always a pleasure to create something beautiful with you in person. It’s like having my cake and eating it, too. Hugs to all!

Inspiration Butterfly ATC By Riikka Kovasin

You all know how I love a good inky background and these artsy ATC cards designed by the very talented Riikka Kovasin are no exception. It’s a little hard to see in the photo that the butterflies are stamped on acetate, cut out, and sewn to the card. I love the visual interest that it adds to the project without overpowering the cards.

Artist Trading Cards are pieces of art that can fit on a 2.5″ by 3.5″ piece of card stock paper. The possibilities are endless; remember that if you can imagine it you can create it. They are a great way to share your art with others. I hope you’ve been inspired to break out your favorite supplies and give these fun cards a try. I must warn you – they are a bit addictive, so once you get the fever it’s hard to stop. Remember there are no rules; just have fun with your art.

Block Watercolor Stamping By Jennifer McGuire

I’d like to send a shout out to Jennifer McGuire for revisiting the art of water coloring with your acrylic blocks. It’s fun, easy and oh-so-showy. As you can see by these beautiful cards, the end results are stunning. Try using different size and shaped blocks to create all kinds of designs.

I highly recommend stopping by Jennifer’s blog to check out the video she prepared; you are going to love all the samples that she has to share. I hope you’ve been inspired to break out those acrylic blocks and your favorite dye based inks and or markers and create your own unique works of art.

Italiana Riviera Tile Coasters by Kathy

It makes me smile using my treasured stamps on things other than paper. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a paper crafter at heart, it’s what I do!  I live and breath scrapbooking, from layouts to cards to tags to mixed media projects; big or small I love ’em all!  But there is something to be said about walking into your craft room and coming out with a handmade gift. Wouldn’t this adorable set of coasters make a nice hostess gift at the next BBQ you’re invited to? Add a bottle of their favorite wine and you are the hero. 😉
Add a cute tag and a simple ribbon and your handmade gift is ready to go.

Who would have guessed that these artsy coasters started out as a plain tile that was purchased at a home improvement store? I don’t want to frighten you, but the holidays are right around the corner and if we start our holiday crafting now we can enjoy the holidays instead of stressing out about not being prepared.  For further details along with a supply list, click here and I will be happy to escort you over to Kathy’s blog Joyfully Made Designs so you can see how easily this project comes together.

Glazed Pineapple and Shrimp Kabobs

These easy-to-make shrimp kabobs are sure to be a hit at your next BBQ. You’ll be happy to know that you can have them ready to serve in about half an hour, and another added bonus is that they are Weight Watcher friendly, too.

I highly recommend stopping by and spending some quality time with our friends over on the KITCHme Blog; they have the best selection of recipes – everything from desserts, drinks, complete meals, etc. If you are following the Weight Watchers program, kudos to you. Losing weight shouldn’t be a flavorless process and thanks to KITCHme, we can all enjoy our favorite foods.

Thanks for stopping by; I always enjoy our creative time together. It’s show time for me and the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo. The marathon of shows is still in full swing and with 19 shows around the nation, the question is not what show you should attend, but rather how many shows you CAN attend! I’ll meet you at the Creativity Center. Hugs to all!

Mixed Media Trade Show Event Favorites (Part 2)

Hey friends, Becki here with a special edition of Inspiration Station and what’s more inspiring than brand new products??? On Tuesday, I shared a post about the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo team’s favorite new products at the Mixed Media Event in held Salt Lake City last week. (If you haven’t had a chance to read that post, you can find it HERE.) Today, I’m sharing my favorite products along with my sweet friend Roree. I’ll share Roree’s picks first 🙂

We all had such a great time in the Lawn Fawn booth. The entire team was able to take home a lot of fun Lawn Fawn projects that we made at the show. Roree fell in love with the new shadow box die. You guys, this is seriously a must have die! The possibilities are endless. We all made this cute polar bear card.

You can see how this die works in this video. The photos just don’t do it justice!

It is July but Christmas will be here before you know it. Roree loves the “A Very Merry Christmas” collection by Carta Bella Paper. She loves the bright vibrant colors combined with the vintage images and theme.

You can see this video in much closer detail on this video:

Tonic Studios made it to our top picks again with their handmade cotton paper. Roree’s favorite thing about this product is that it won’t lose it’s texture when you die cut it with a manual die cutting machine. It also has and amazing metallic finish.

Now, I have three favorites of my own. First, I have to say that it was REALLY hard to choose only three items. There were so many amazing products at this show. I did limit myself to three choices. The first thing I found that I was SO excited about was that for the first time in the history of American Crafts they are re-releasing a collection. The Snow and Cocoa collection from Crate Paper debuted in the Summer of 2016. It sold out so quickly and there were so many complaints that consumers couldn’t find the products that American Crafts decided to bring it back for another season. The patterned papers are the same, some of the embellishments are the same but they also have some brand new embellishments that will be hitting the stores in August. I missed out on this collection the first time it was on store shelves. I’m so excited to get a second chance at playing with this collection. There was a brand new manufacturer on the trade show floor for the first time. Some of you may be familiar with the Felicity Jane kit club. And if you haven’t heard of Felicity Jane, you NEED to see their products! This is their gorgeous, Kate collection. Isn’t it beautiful!?!?!? The owner of Felicity Jane is the sweetest. We loved meeting her and learning about her company. I wish all of you could have visited this booth with us. It was so elegant and well done! Last but definitely not least, the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo team deemed the Doodlebug Designs booth the happiest place on the showroom floor. They even served milk and cookies at their booth. How cute is that?!? Doodlebug is known for their amazing color palette and adorable designs. Now, they’re going to be well known for their awesome albums! I am picky about albums and I can tell you that these are the best quality albums I’ve ever seen! They come in all the signature Doodlebug colors and in two sizes (8×8 and 12×12). Just looking at the row of gorgeous albums makes me happy. I’m sure I need two or three albums in each color.

Whew, that’s it! We had an amazing time at the Mixed Media event 2017. We hope you enjoyed seeing some of our favorite products. Thank you again for stopping by the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo blog. I’ll see you again next week. Have a great weekend, my friends!

Sundays With Lorraine

Welcome back to Weekly Scrapper! It makes me smile knowing that you’ve found some time to get crafty; after all, creating art is very therapeutic, a proven stress reliever. The secret to success is to have fun with your art, so don’t hold back, you will never know what you’re truly capable of unless you explore.

Mixed Media Layout By Missy Whidden

Missy truly has a gift for putting together perfect scrapbook layouts and this little beauty is no exception. Would you believe that this adorable layout started out as a plain piece of white cardstock? The inky background was created using plastic package and some Shimmerz Inklingz and Creameez Paints.  You add some paint to plastic packaging, flip the packaging over onto your background paper, and smush it around. I love the artsy look and how you can customize the background to coordinate with your papers and embellishments. What a perfect background for those great black & white photos!

There is so much more than first meets the eye on this layout. I highly recommend stopping by the Scrapbook & Cards Today Blog so can follow along as Missy shares step-by-step instructions on how the layout was created. You will definitely pick up a few tips and techniques to use on your next page. Happy scrapping, my friends!

Live In The Now By Jane Tyrrell

What a gorgeous background Jane created using the new Distress Oxides on black cardstock. There’s one thing that Distress Oxide Inks can do that the Distress Inks can’t, which is to stamp on darker colored paper. Since they are a dye-pigment fusion, the stamped or inked areas really show up better. And check out the soft chalky look that they bring to your project. They’re a real game changer.

This card has such lovely details it almost tells a story. Big hugs to Jane for showing us how it’s done. It’s time to break out those new Distress Oxides you’ve been itching to play with and while you are gathering your tools, don’t forget the heat gun, embossing powders, and your trusty Big Shot. I hope you’ve been inspired to send one of your handmade cards to someone special today!

Summer is finally here, so why not take advantage of the plethora of summer veggies that are in abundance at local produce stands. This is like an Italian spin on salmon in foil and you are totally going to love it; even your pickiest eaters will be asking for seconds!

With a little help from Jaclyn the Queen of Cooking Classy you, too, can have a healthy weeknight dinner in no time and as if it needs to get any better – clean up is a breeze since you basically cooked it in one baking dish. What’s not to love?!  Click here and I will lead the way over to the Cooking Classy Blog so you can print out the recipe. Bon appetit!

Thanks for a great visit! I look forward to seeing you back soon and I hope you have an amazing week ahead of you. Hugs to all!

Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwiches By Peaches Please

I don’t know about you, but I love chocolate chip ice cream, and do you know what is even better? Sandwiching a big fat scoop of that ice cream between two big, fat, chewy chocolate cookies! You will get a double-dose of cold, creamy, chocolaty minty goodness.

Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwiches

I have to admit that while making them it was mighty tempting to gobble them down on the spot!  I managed to resist because in the end I was richly rewarded since they are actually better after a couple of days in the freezer.  These make a perfect treat on a very hot summer day.  Your family and friends will love you for making such a refreshing treat.  Let’s pop on over to Peaches Please where you can find the recipe to start making yours.

I hope that you are experiencing a wonderful summer day and staying cool.  Please take some time to visit the blogs of these fabulous designers to see more details about there wonderful projects.  I hope you have an amazing week ahead and I will see you back next Saturday!

Sundays With Lorraine

Hello, my creative friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper. It’s Lorraine here with some red, white, and blue inspiration for your 4th of July holiday. With the 4th of July just a few days away, I’d like to pay tribute to our brave American Heroes and their families on this special day. Happy Independence Day and hugs to all!

Hope For Peace: Mixed Medium with Shari Carroll

Shari started out with a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Frame but feel free to use any frame that you have on hand, just pop out the back and build your college on the chipboard base. The easiest way to attach your papers to the base is using Soft Matte Gel medium. Once all the paper layers were in place, Shari used a tried and true painting technique where she used petroleum jelly as a resist then applied some distress paints over the top to create the unique background.

All that’s left is to dive into your stash of ephemera, embellishments, stamps, and any other items that you’d like to use to personalize your little work of art.  Creating those amazing backgrounds and perfectly placed layers isn’t always as easy as it looks, but not to worry, with a little help from our creative friend Shari you, too, can create your own unique piece. If you’d like to check out her video click here and I will be happy to escort you over to the Simon Says Blog.

Stars and Stripes Forever Fun Fold Cards

I love Authentique’s new collection titled “Honor.” This awesome Americana collection is perfect to use on cards honoring our military service men and women, to scrapbook our 4th of July memories, or even to create some fun holiday home decor pieces. The possibilities are endless!

With interactive cards being all the rage  I thought you might enjoy this patriotic themed fancy fold card that I discovered on the Authentique blog. Of course, this card is perfect to mail to someone special but wouldn’t it also look adorable as part of a centerpiece for your holiday BBQ?

Patriotic Projects

While searching for some patriotic-themed DIY projects, I came across this fun blog DHWCOR and knew I needed to share these oh-so-cute and easy-to-make projects. The sign really spoke to me and the wreath would look adorable on your front door. 😉

These are just a few of my favorites but there are many more 4th of July DIY ideas to check out. There is something for all levels of crafters so I hope you stop by for a visit.

Grilled Chicken Fajitas on a Stick By Dinner At The Zoo

This is a super easy take on traditional fajitas – grilled chicken fajitas on a stick with a creamy cilantro dipping sauce! What’s not to love? This is perfect for your 4th of July BBQ. They make a great grab and go appetizer or you can kick things up a notch and make it a complete meal by adding Sara’s easy Mexican Pinto Beans & Rice.

I highly recommend stopping by Sara’s food blog Dinner At The Zoo any time you are in need of a little help with dinner; you and your family will be glad you did.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderfully creative week ahead of you. See you next Sunday or if you happen to be in the Duluth, GA area on July 14th & or 15th, I’ll be at the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo and would love to meet you in person. I’ll meet you at the Creativity Center and we can create something beautiful together. Hugs to all!
