Sundays with Lorraine

Hello, my crafty friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper. I just returned home from the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo in Kansas City, MO and I’m happy to report that a fun time was had by all. The weather may have been hot and the humidity on high, but everyone was on fire at the Creativity Center!  Hugs to all those talented crafters for making it such an amazing show.

I’m feeling a bit eclectic today, and I hope you find inspiration in today’s post. I have mixed media tags, an animation card, an adorable quilt, and, of course, a delicious dinner that you can have on the table in under half an hour. Whats not to love, right?

Mixed Media Tags by Marlene

Many of you know that I have a passion for all that is inky. When I discovered these perfectly inked up tags on the Art Anthologies blog, I knew I had to share the inspiration.  Art Anthology Paints & Colorations Sprays are second to none; you’re going to love them, especially when you combine the two together. My favorite way to use them is a good old fashioned resist technique. You can stamp an image, paint random areas, dry, then spray over the top with the Coloration Spray. The areas you painted will then resist the spray, creating a gorgeous background.

If you would like to see how easily these little works of art came together be sure to visit the Art Anthology blog and check out the easy to follow Snapquide

Animation Card by Nina-Marie Trapani

Have you seen the new Animation Stamps by Uchi’s Designs? For those of you new to animation stamps, they are images that are made up of a series of vertical lines. When stamped onto paper and paired with a vertical grid overlay, they create an image that appears to be moving.

They really are a lot of fun. You can make them as elaborate or simple as you like. If you are a visual person like myself, I recommend checking out the short video to see exactly how the animation works, so click here and I’ll take you over to the Simon Says Blog. Who wouldn’t love to receive this sweet interactive card in their mailbox?  Kudos to you for sharing those smiles one handmade card at a time.

New Quilting Dies By Sizzix

I must confess that I am new to the wonderful world of quilting, but even I can see the benefit of cutting out your fabric using a die versus cutting it out by hand. With a little help from our friends over at Sizzix you, too, can crank out this sweet quilt in a day if you are an experienced seamstress – maybe a little longer for us beginners. Victoria used the new Totally Trees Die by Sizzix to cut out the tree shapes, but you can also create different designs and patterns by switching the shapes up a bit. This is definitely one of those dies I know I can use in many different ways.

I’m thinking these handmade quilts will make a perfect gift for the holidays. If you want to see more on how easily this adorable quilt comes together, click here and I will take you over to the Sizzix Blog so you can check out the short 6-minute video. It truly inspired me to add this handmade quilt to my crafting bucket list and I hope it does the same for you. Happy quilting, my crafty friends!

Tilapia Fish Tacos With Tropical Salsa

These easy to make tacos are a great combination of flavors and textures, and the bright colors make this dish as pretty as it is delicious. You and your family are going to love them. Sara truly is a culinary genius and I don’t know how my family survived before I discovered her amazing food blog Dinner At The Zoo.

If you are not a fan of tilapia feel free to use any mild white fish in its place. Part of the charm of this recipe is that you can substitute the fish and also customize your salsa to include what your picky eaters like. Big hugs to Sara for sharing this amazing meal and for getting us out of the kitchen and back into our crafting rooms in under half an hour!

I do hope you will take a minute or two to visit the individual blogs I have shared to see more details on these wonderful projects. Hugs to all who have shared the inspiration for today’s post.

Have an amazing week and I’ll see you next Sunday!

Saturdays With LeAnn

Gift Bags

Happy Saturday my friends, and thank you for joining me today!  I want to share some fun projects created by fabulous designers, and of course a yummy dessert for your summer gatherings!  I hope you can take some time to sit back and enjoy the inspiration.  Enjoy!

Pocket Pages By Amy Little

It has been awhile since I shared pocket page ideas.  This past week I went on a fabulous vacation with my family.  I decided I was not going to put these memories in an envelope and hope to scrapbook them one day. The next day I printed some photos (well, a lot of photos) and decided to make a Pocket Page album.  This was so much fun and got me excited to share some ideas with you today!  Whether you are going on a dream vacation or exploring where you live, be sure to take lots of photos to document your adventures!

Pocket Pages

Today I want to share three of my favorite items for creating my pocket pages.  My first one is Pocket Life Cards.  These contain cards like “Places” and “Today” and can help focus your vacation journaling.  Second would be cut apart pages. These are great for your pocket layouts.  You can fussy cut and layer so many different pieces to create a one-of-a kind masterpiece!  Third, wood veneers or chipboard pieces.  What a great and fun way to add some layering, dimension, and personality to your layout.  Take time to record your feelings and thoughts about your photos in that moment so you will always cherish that special time.  Let me take you over to BoBunny where Amy has created this adorable pocket page.  She will give you some tips in creating this page, along with a list of all the supplies you will need to get started.  Thank you, Amy for your fabulous inspiration!

Shaker Over A Colored Image By Nina-Marie Trapani

The sizzling hot shaker trend shows no signs of cooling down anytime soon.  That is good news for me because I love this fun technique.  Today I want to share a new shaker card inspiration.  Yes, let’s add a colored image underneath the fun sequins!  I always look for some unique and different ways to create shaker cards.

Shaker Over A Colored Image

There is nothing better than receiving a handmade card in the mail!  The cards that leave a lasting memory in my mind are always interactive in some way.  This is truly one of those cards that will forever be cherished.  I highly recommend stopping by the Simon Says Stamp blog where you can see some step-by-step instructions by Nina-Marie on how to create this beautiful card.  You will learn so many new techniques for watercoloring along with adding some magical effects to the card using clear sequins.  This is one technique you don’t want to miss out on!  Have fun creating!

Gift Bags By Riikka Kovasin

These sweet bags are not only adorable but can be used for multiple purposes; they are perfect for Thank You, Get Well, Happy Birthday, Just Because, or just about any occasion you need it for. Basic brown bags can make the prettiest bags for gift giving.  How fun to personalize each one, and then adding a tag is such a bonus!

These stamps offer fun and unique designs that will be a great addition to any occasion for your bags or paper project.  Don’t hesitate to start playing with these fun stamps and see what great designs you can come up with!  Riikki used the Prima Cling Mounted Stamp Doll with Ruffle Dress to create her bag.  I hope you have been inspired to start your own adorable gift bags!
