Saturdays With LeAnn

Let Your Dreams Soar

Good Saturday morning, my friends!  My favorite time of the week, time for me to share more inspiration and fun projects with you!  I hope you are all geared up to learn more new techniques and create beautiful items that will brighten your crafting weekend!  So let’s sit back, relax and enjoy today’s wonderful projects by many talented designers!

Hooray By Jill Keller

This layout is for those of you who love to add some hand stitching on your layouts.  What an adorable way to remember what age your precious child or grandchild was in their photo.  I love the look of sewing on all my papercrafts, from scrapbooking layouts to greeting cards.  Sewing and embroidery adds dimension without a lot of bulk and has the added benefit of attaching elements to the page in the process.  You can sew by hand or with your machine, and both techniques are easier than you might think.  I love the character it gives to the layout!

Scrapbook pages are such treasured moments and memories.  Don’t you just love to pull out your scrapbooks and reminisce about all those fond memories?  Down the road you will feel like you walked through memory lane!  Jill captured a sweet moment of her darling daughter on her 5th birthday.  Jill’s layout is full of fun elements, and she has such a great way of giving layouts a nice contrast.  I am sure you would love to see more of Jill’s talent with her scrapbooking, so let me take you on over to Creating Us.  Take some time and enjoy her inspiration of her beautiful creations.

Let Your Dreams Soar By Yana Smakula

Pressed Flower Coasters By Marianne Koo

Tiny pressed flowers peek through glass tiles on these decorative coasters.  Make a set and bring a hint of nature into your living room, office, or even your dining room.  Dried flower coasters also make lovely gifts, and the best part is bringing in the flowers you found in your own backyard!  Press the flowers yourself, or you can use pre-pressed blooms.  You can use any variety of flowers or leaves that you love.  A collection of coasters is even more charming if each one is unique!

Pressed Flower Coasters

Keep your recipient’s favorite flowers in mind when looking for flowers to press.  These coasters are guaranteed to put a smile on the face of who receives them. They will make the most perfect gift!  Are you ready to see a step-by-step tutorial on how to make these beautiful coasters?  Click here and Marianne Koo will show you exactly how she created these.  I just love bringing the outdoors into my home and always feeling the beauty of summer!  You are going to love these!

Chocolate & Berries Yogurt Dessert

This impressive dessert will leave your guests wondering how long this must have taken you to make.  It is rich tasting, yet healthier than many desserts.  The chocolate is a great complement to the berries and yogurt.  It is perfect for those moments when you want an impressive dessert, but don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen.  You will certainly be the hit of your party with this refreshing summer dessert!  Click here so you can copy the recipe.  This is one you don’t want to miss out on!  Enjoy 🙂

Saturday With LeAnn

Thank You

Welcome back my friends, and thank you for sharing a part of your Saturday with me.  I have been collecting some really fun projects to share with you.  I hope today will be another inspirational day for you and that you can take time this weekend to create some wonderful projects of your own.  So sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Dare To Dream By Riikka Kovasin

Today I have a fabulous layout to share that was created by Riikka Kovasin. She took inspiration from arrows and a dream catcher. I love this layout! Can’t you just see a photo of your dad, husband, son, or even a grandson on this layout?  Perfect for Father’s Day!

Dare To Dream

When creating a layout, the photo itself is the major guide to your process.  Have you ever noticed that when using a photo that is black and white, or with very little color, that it really emphasizes the faces in the photo?  I love the outstanding job that Riikka did on this layout and it really tells a story!  Click here and I will take you over Elizabeth Crafts and Designs where you will find a full step-by-step tutorial on how Riikka put this layout together.  Be sure and check out her blog Paperiliitin where you are sure to be inspired by Riikka’s outstanding projects.

Thank You By Melody Rupple

Today’s card is a perfect way to say thank you.  I just love how Melody incorporated some of today’s trends of watercoloring, ink blending, and stamping.  This card really pulls out all the charm of a shaker card.  Simple add some different elements to create your own personal shaker card.  Wouldn’t you love to be the one to receive this adorable card?

Thank You

I instantly fell in love with this adorable card.  Since shaker cards are quite the trend now, be sure and pop on over to Pretty Pink Posh where you will find all kinds of elements to add to your card. Melody really did a fabulous job creating this darling card.  The fun spring colors make it such a ray of sunshine!  Come with me and I will take you on over to A Paper Melody where you will see all the different products that Melody used.  Remember to step outside your traditional style.  Look at your project in a different way, and try something new.  Have fun creating!

Upcycled Drawer By Christy K. James

What a creative storage solution for your silverware!  Instead of being in a drawer and taking up valuable drawer space, create a new silverware organizer.  I am sure you can find access to an old dresser drawer at a thrift store, a garage sale, or maybe a dresser you want to get rid of.  If you are anything like me and love mason jars, this is just one more way of using them and showing them off.

Upcycled Drawer

I just love the way that Christy painted and distressed this old drawer to make it look vintage.  How adorable to sit on a hutch and use as a decor piece for your kitchen.   Are you as excited about this as I am?  Let’s get started and find that old drawer to start recycling it into a storage unit!  Come with me on over to Confessions Of A Serial Do It Yourselfer where you will see a step-by-step tutorial on how Christy created her drawer.  There is nothing more fun than to create and transform an old object into something beautiful and functional.  Hope this has inspired you as much as it did myself.  I can hardly wait to jump in and make one of these for my kitchen!

Key Lime Cheesecake Jaclyn Bell

This thick and creamy key lime cheesecake is the perfect combination of sweet and tart!  You know it is a perfect dessert when it gets a lot of requests to be made.  This recipe is not only delicious, it is also so beautiful, and is a WOW to anyone who has a slice!

Key Lime Pie

We all need to treat ourselves once in awhile, and this is definitely the perfect bright summery cheesecake to make for any of your summer celebrations.  You will be the hit of your summer gatherings.  Click here and I will take you over to Cooking Classy where you will be able to write down the recipe and ingredients.  I promise you that this will be your all time favorite cheesecake!  As a lover of cheesecake in all it’s flavors and forms, this key lime cheesecake has completely stolen my heart!

As always, I appreciate being able to spend some time with you today.  I hope you have been inspired by today’s post and that you have a wonderful week ahead of you.  Enjoy this beautiful weather and I will see you back next Saturday!

Hugs to all,

Sundays With Lorraine

Hello and happy Sunday to all my crafty friends. I just returned home from our first Scrapbook Expo of the year and I’m happy to report that a fun time was had by all! Talk about inspiration! Lots of the new releases that we recently saw at CHA are starting to surface so there was definitely some must-have shopping on the show floor. Spending some creative time with our friends in Texas was a wonderful way to begin our season. I hope to see you at a Scrapbook Expo in your area. I’ll meet you at the Creativity Center!

Gettysburg by Tracee Provis

First up we have a sweet layout designed by Tracee Provis. Blue is my color, so it was pretty much love at first site when Bo Bunny’s Calendar Girl Collection was released last month. I absolutely love what Tracee did with all the yummy patterned papers; she has some serious skills when it comes to layering. It’s not always as easy as Tracee makes it look to successfully layer patterned paper. Thanks, Tracee, for showing us how it’s done.

Gettysburg by Tracee Provis

Do you know about Bo Bunny’s challenge time? Here’s how it works in case you are new to this fun challenge. Each month they share a new sketch and what one of their very talented designers was inspired to create with it. I highly recommend stopping by the Bo Bunny Blog to see all the different variations of this month’s sketch – you’re going to love ’em all. Happy scrappin’!

Showers of Blessings designed by Amy Kolling

Shaker cards are all the rage right now so when I discovered this adorable card on the Stamp-N-Paradise blog and I knew I had to share it with you. Amy Kolling really knocked it out of the ball park with this sweet baby shower card. I was so inspired by Amy’s design that I’m going to use this design as the springboard to create the perfect cover for a mini album that I am making for a friend’s baby shower. Thanks, Amy, for being such an inspiration to your fellow paper crafters.

Showers Of Blessings designed by Amy Kolloing

I know many of you have fallen in love with this card and are wondering where to find the dies and sequins. Not to worry, I have your back!  Just CLICK HERE and I will bring you over to the Pretty Pink Posh site so you can take a look around at all the treasures they have. For those of you who were eyeing the gorgeous sequins, Amy used Pretty Pink Posh “Sweet Pea Sequins Mix” with a sprinkle of their Mini Iridescent Star Confetti mixed in.

Happy Birthday My Dear Friend designed by Loll Thompson

As I mentioned earlier, blue is my happy color so naturally this gorgeous Happy Birthday card just jumped out at me and I’m honored to pass the inspiration forward. While the gorgeous inky background steals the show, it’s also the perfect background to support the simple white embossed trees. Don’t you love it when a card this beautiful comes together so quickly?

Happy Birthday My Friend designed by Loll Thompson

Would you believe that the blue background was made long before Loll had the vision for this sweet card? Loll makes several different backgrounds at the same time while experimenting with different techniques and coloring mediums. That way when she needs a background for a project she always has several to choose from that are dry and ready to go. I love this tip because if we don’t play with our art we will never truly know what we are capable of. So the next time you’re in a creative slump, cut up some A2 size pieces of water color cardstock and create like no one is watching! 😉  They won’t all be masterpieces like this one, but not to worry, that’s how we learn what works. The secret is to just have fun with your art! Thanks, Loll, for being such an inspiration to your fellow paper crafters.

DIY: Jar Lamp

Do you share my love of mason jars? Then you are going to love these adorable hanging lamps that you can easily make yourself.  Who would have thought that there would be so many uses for a simple glass jar? I use them for everything from organizing my craft room to creating many (many!) different crafts with them. If you’re familiar with our Tips of the Day, I’ve filmed quite a few using masons jars, so make sure to do a search for mason jars on Weekly Scrapper.

Here’s a bit of Mason Jar Trivia for you, did you know that in 2013 Ball celebrated the 100th anniversary of the first “Perfect Mason” jar?  To pay tribute to these well-crafted jars they released the limited edition line titled “Heritage Collection.”  These are a series of beautiful vintage-inspired mason jars. The first to be released in 2013 was the vintage blue followed by the Spring green and ending with the gorgeous purple in 2014. Who say’s we can’t have it all, right? Now we can have the vintage look without breaking the bank on purchasing antique jars. Not to worry if you’re a collector like me, there is always room for more mason jars. Old or new, we love them all! If you need these jars in your life you can click HERE and I’ll take you over to the Ball site so you can order your own. I have also seen them at Walmart and sometimes, if I’m lucky, I find them at my grocery store. The pint sizes are pretty easy to find now, but if you see the big dogs (the quart size), grab them because they aren’t very easy to find and they’re no longer in production, so once they are gone, they’re gone.

Cajun Honey Mustard Chicken

This Cajun Honey Mustard Chicken can be grilled or cooked on the stove top. It marinates for 1 hour up to overnight – so no matter what your time situation is, you can whip up this tasty dish in no time. I’m not kidding – it takes less than 1/2 an hour (5 minutes prep time & 12 minutes cook time, which doesn’t include marinating time). Pretty amazing, right? This is my kind of recipe! That means my family is full and happy and I have a bit more time in the craft room. 🙂

For all the yummy details, click here and I will escort you over to the Carlsbad Cravings Blog so you can print out the recipe. You might want to print out a few copies, because people will be asking you for the recipe!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
