Saturdays With LeAnn

Gift Bags

Happy Saturday my friends, and thank you for joining me today!  I want to share some fun projects created by fabulous designers, and of course a yummy dessert for your summer gatherings!  I hope you can take some time to sit back and enjoy the inspiration.  Enjoy!

Pocket Pages By Amy Little

It has been awhile since I shared pocket page ideas.  This past week I went on a fabulous vacation with my family.  I decided I was not going to put these memories in an envelope and hope to scrapbook them one day. The next day I printed some photos (well, a lot of photos) and decided to make a Pocket Page album.  This was so much fun and got me excited to share some ideas with you today!  Whether you are going on a dream vacation or exploring where you live, be sure to take lots of photos to document your adventures!

Pocket Pages

Today I want to share three of my favorite items for creating my pocket pages.  My first one is Pocket Life Cards.  These contain cards like “Places” and “Today” and can help focus your vacation journaling.  Second would be cut apart pages. These are great for your pocket layouts.  You can fussy cut and layer so many different pieces to create a one-of-a kind masterpiece!  Third, wood veneers or chipboard pieces.  What a great and fun way to add some layering, dimension, and personality to your layout.  Take time to record your feelings and thoughts about your photos in that moment so you will always cherish that special time.  Let me take you over to BoBunny where Amy has created this adorable pocket page.  She will give you some tips in creating this page, along with a list of all the supplies you will need to get started.  Thank you, Amy for your fabulous inspiration!

Shaker Over A Colored Image By Nina-Marie Trapani

The sizzling hot shaker trend shows no signs of cooling down anytime soon.  That is good news for me because I love this fun technique.  Today I want to share a new shaker card inspiration.  Yes, let’s add a colored image underneath the fun sequins!  I always look for some unique and different ways to create shaker cards.

Shaker Over A Colored Image

There is nothing better than receiving a handmade card in the mail!  The cards that leave a lasting memory in my mind are always interactive in some way.  This is truly one of those cards that will forever be cherished.  I highly recommend stopping by the Simon Says Stamp blog where you can see some step-by-step instructions by Nina-Marie on how to create this beautiful card.  You will learn so many new techniques for watercoloring along with adding some magical effects to the card using clear sequins.  This is one technique you don’t want to miss out on!  Have fun creating!

Gift Bags By Riikka Kovasin

These sweet bags are not only adorable but can be used for multiple purposes; they are perfect for Thank You, Get Well, Happy Birthday, Just Because, or just about any occasion you need it for. Basic brown bags can make the prettiest bags for gift giving.  How fun to personalize each one, and then adding a tag is such a bonus!

Gift Bags

These stamps offer fun and unique designs that will be a great addition to any occasion for your bags or paper project.  Don’t hesitate to start playing with these fun stamps and see what great designs you can come up with!  Riikki used the Prima Cling Mounted Stamp Doll with Ruffle Dress to create her bag.  I hope you have been inspired to start your own adorable gift bags!

Chocolate Cheesecake Dessert By Tonia Larson

Chocolate cheesecake is one of the ultimate desserts.  With so many recipes, you will find that this one is just right for you!  When the occasion calls for an extra-special dessert, this creamy, rich, chocolaty cheesecake is the one you will want to serve!

Chocolate Cheesecake Dessert

This four-layer chocolate cheesecake dessert is the ultimate way to serve chocolate.  It is also way easier than it looks. Click here for a full video on how to make this scrumptious dessert.  Your family and friends will love this one!

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope this gives you some inspiration and great ideas for a fun summer crafting day!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I will see you back here at Weekly Scrapper next Saturday.

Hugs to all,

Sundays With Lorraine

Hello, my crafty friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper! Today we have a scrapbook layout, a gorgeous watercolor card, a DIY trash-to-treasure project and, of course, a delicious meal that will get you out of the kitchen (and back into your craft room where you belong) in no time! 😉  So sit back, relax, and enjoy today’s creative therapy! You deserve a little creative “me” time.

Sweetie Love Layout By Riikka Kovasin

There is so much more than first meets the eye when you look at this gorgeous layout. I was truly inspired by the way the artsy background complements the photo versus competing for the attention that it deserves. It looks complicated but with a little help from your creative friend Riikka you, too, can pull off your own work of art in no time. Big hugs to Riikka for showing us how it’s done.

I hope you’ve been inspired to break out your favorite coloring mediums and create your own unique backgrounds. There is something to be said about creating a one-of-a-kind piece. Whether you are a mixed media queen like Riikka or just getting your feet wet, you are sure to pick up a few techniques from Riikka’s video so be sure to check it out. Click here and I will be happy to take you over to her blog Paperiliitin. Happy scrappin’ my friends!

Watercolored Backgrounds By Shari Carroll

I confess, I seem to be on a watercolor kick, but in my defense, there are so many amazing projects using all kinds of fun techniques that it’s hard to resist sharing the inspiration. Whether you’re creating a card, tag, scrapbook layout, art journal pages, etc., there is always room for some watercolor magic.

More often than not when designing a card I don’t add the sentiment until the need arises; that way you’re ready for any occasion.  Just grab one of your cards, add a greeting, and you are good to go. Many of you know that I travel often with the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo, so things can get hectic. This habit of making my cards without committing to a specific occasion has saved me many times. I highly recommend creating your own stash of not only cards but also background pieces to use at a later date. It’s a real time saver when you’re in a pinch.

DIY Jewelry Storage By Christy

How cute is this shabby chic Jewelry Tower?!  I can definitely see this beauty sitting on my dresser – it’s perfect to toss your favorite pieces of jewelry into at the end of the day, or maybe your hair accessories in one layer. I absolutely love the blue dishes with the distressed candlesticks, however, you can easily customize your own Jewelry Tower to fit your style and space.

The next time you’re going to yard sales or visiting your favorite thrift store, don’t hesitate to pick up those pretty dishes and make something beautiful. Kudos to you for saving our landfills one recycled piece at a time! One person’s trash is another crafter’s treasure.

Salmon Teriyaki With Pineapple Salsa By Sara

I don’t know about you, but I would much rather be creating something beautiful in my craft room instead of hanging out in a hot kitchen! I bet you feel the same way. With a little help from the culinary master Sara, we can all have a healthy and delicious meal on the table in no time.

Flaky and tender fish, sweet and savory teriyaki sauce, and a tropical tasting salsa – you can’t go wrong! Click here and I will escort you over to one of my favorite food blogs Dinner At The Zoo. I must admit it’s thanks to Sara that my family eats so well.

I do hope you will take a minute or two to visit the individual blogs I have shared to see more details on these wonderful projects. Hugs to all who have shared the inspiration for today’s post. Have an amazing week and I’ll see you next Sunday.  If you happen to be in the neighborhood of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St Paul. I’ll be at the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo and would love to meet you in person. I hope I get to see you at the show!

Saturday With LeAnn

Thank You

Welcome back my friends, and thank you for sharing a part of your Saturday with me.  I have been collecting some really fun projects to share with you.  I hope today will be another inspirational day for you and that you can take time this weekend to create some wonderful projects of your own.  So sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Dare To Dream By Riikka Kovasin

Today I have a fabulous layout to share that was created by Riikka Kovasin. She took inspiration from arrows and a dream catcher. I love this layout! Can’t you just see a photo of your dad, husband, son, or even a grandson on this layout?  Perfect for Father’s Day!

Dare To Dream

When creating a layout, the photo itself is the major guide to your process.  Have you ever noticed that when using a photo that is black and white, or with very little color, that it really emphasizes the faces in the photo?  I love the outstanding job that Riikka did on this layout and it really tells a story!  Click here and I will take you over Elizabeth Crafts and Designs where you will find a full step-by-step tutorial on how Riikka put this layout together.  Be sure and check out her blog Paperiliitin where you are sure to be inspired by Riikka’s outstanding projects.

Thank You By Melody Rupple

Today’s card is a perfect way to say thank you.  I just love how Melody incorporated some of today’s trends of watercoloring, ink blending, and stamping.  This card really pulls out all the charm of a shaker card.  Simple add some different elements to create your own personal shaker card.  Wouldn’t you love to be the one to receive this adorable card?

Thank You

I instantly fell in love with this adorable card.  Since shaker cards are quite the trend now, be sure and pop on over to Pretty Pink Posh where you will find all kinds of elements to add to your card. Melody really did a fabulous job creating this darling card.  The fun spring colors make it such a ray of sunshine!  Come with me and I will take you on over to A Paper Melody where you will see all the different products that Melody used.  Remember to step outside your traditional style.  Look at your project in a different way, and try something new.  Have fun creating!

Upcycled Drawer By Christy K. James

What a creative storage solution for your silverware!  Instead of being in a drawer and taking up valuable drawer space, create a new silverware organizer.  I am sure you can find access to an old dresser drawer at a thrift store, a garage sale, or maybe a dresser you want to get rid of.  If you are anything like me and love mason jars, this is just one more way of using them and showing them off.

Upcycled Drawer

I just love the way that Christy painted and distressed this old drawer to make it look vintage.  How adorable to sit on a hutch and use as a decor piece for your kitchen.   Are you as excited about this as I am?  Let’s get started and find that old drawer to start recycling it into a storage unit!  Come with me on over to Confessions Of A Serial Do It Yourselfer where you will see a step-by-step tutorial on how Christy created her drawer.  There is nothing more fun than to create and transform an old object into something beautiful and functional.  Hope this has inspired you as much as it did myself.  I can hardly wait to jump in and make one of these for my kitchen!

Key Lime Cheesecake Jaclyn Bell

This thick and creamy key lime cheesecake is the perfect combination of sweet and tart!  You know it is a perfect dessert when it gets a lot of requests to be made.  This recipe is not only delicious, it is also so beautiful, and is a WOW to anyone who has a slice!

Key Lime Pie

We all need to treat ourselves once in awhile, and this is definitely the perfect bright summery cheesecake to make for any of your summer celebrations.  You will be the hit of your summer gatherings.  Click here and I will take you over to Cooking Classy where you will be able to write down the recipe and ingredients.  I promise you that this will be your all time favorite cheesecake!  As a lover of cheesecake in all it’s flavors and forms, this key lime cheesecake has completely stolen my heart!

As always, I appreciate being able to spend some time with you today.  I hope you have been inspired by today’s post and that you have a wonderful week ahead of you.  Enjoy this beautiful weather and I will see you back next Saturday!

Hugs to all,

Oh Happy Day Layout By Riikka Kovasin

I instantly fell in love with this artsy layout designed by the very talented Riikka Kovasin. Riikka truly is the Queen of all that is Mixed Media. To see how Riikka transformed a plain sheet of white cardstock into this gorgeous work of art, click here and I’ll take you over to the Paperiliitin blog so you can follow along.

Do you stamp in your scrapbooks? As you can see by this gorgeous layout, stamping your own unique backgrounds can open all kinds of doors. Think of all the stamps you have – the possibilities are endless. I hope you’ve been inspired to break out your favorite inks, stencils, and stamps and create your own piece of art. I’d like to send out a big hug to Riikka for being such a constant inspiration to her fellow paper crafters.

This is a Happy Life by Amanda Southern

This next project designed by Amanda Southern is sure to get those creative juices flowing – it’s play time, my creative friends! You know my motto, if we don’t get in there and play with our toys we will never know what we are capable of, right?  I love how Amanda used some of her scrap geli-prints to die cut those artsy little Metropolis buildings.

I know you’re holding your breath wondering “Where do I get that die?” Not to worry, just click here and I will take you over to That’s Crafty where you can order your own. The Cityscape-Metropolis is designed to cut and emboss and can also be used as a stencil. I know it will be a “need it in your life” die. Amanda really broke out the big dogs on this little treasure so be sure to stop by her blog for a complete supply list along with step-by-step instructions.

Prayers & Hugs Card By Amy Rysavy

Be the reason someone smiles today. Opening the mailbox to discover one of your handmade cards is like receiving a hug through the mail. On this sweet card, Amy stamped the flowers with Distress Inks using Simon Says Wild Beauty Stamp Set and Hero Arts Prayers Stamp & Die Set for the sentiment.   I love the soft painted look that the Distress Inks add to the card. To achieve this look be sure to use watercolor paper, otherwise, the ink won’t move the way you want it to and you’ll loose that artsy look.

If you are a visual person like myself, I highly recommend checking out Amy’s video, you’re going to love all the tips she has to share. Time to break out your favorite stamp sets and your ever growing stash of Distress Inks and create something beautiful today.

Chicken Asparagus Roll

If you are a fan of Chicken Cordon Bleu than you are going to love Jessica’s version of this classic chicken recipe. With the coming of spring brings fresh asparagus, add in some ham and gooey cheese all wrapped up in a chicken cutlet then top it off with a yummy, creamy sauce and you have a delicious dinner in no time.

With a little help from our friend Jessica, you too can have your chicken and eat it, too. Click here and I will lead the way over to her blog One Sweet Appetite so you can print out the recipe. Enjoy, my hungry friends!

Thanks for stopping by, I always enjoy our creative time together. Have a wonderful week and I’ll meet you back here next Sunday. If by chance you happen to be in the Orlando area next weekend (May 5th & 6th), I’ll meet you at the Gaylord Palms Resort where we’ll be hosting Stamp & Scrapbook Expo.  Hugs to all!

Sundays With Lorraine

Good day, my crafty friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper! It’s time for some creative therapy, so sit back, relax, and enjoy. You deserve a little ME time!

You Make Me Happy By Riikka

Have you had the opportunity to play with a Gelli plate? Monoprinting on a Gelli plate is simple, fun, and a great way to create unique backgrounds. I love the fact that you don’t need to purchase any expensive tools to create your own works of art, you can use things that you already have on hand, such as bubble wrap, plastic grids, foam stamps, stencils, leaves, different fibers, ribbons, and lace to create interesting imagery on your plate. The gratification is immediate, and the prints are amazing!

You Make Me Happy By Riikka Kovasin

As you can see by this beautiful layout designed by Riikka, creating your own unique background is just a few simple supplies away. To check out how easily this layout came together, click here and I will be honored to escort you over to Riikka’s blog Paperiliitin. Celebrating Kindness By Jenn Shurkus

I know it’s hard to believe but not everyone is a talented paper crafter like you are. How sweet would it be to create a beautiful set of cards all wrapped up and tied with a bow, then gift them to someone special. What a perfect random act of kindness.

A Little Help Organizing Your Craft Room

We can all use a little help when it comes to keeping our treasured craft supplies organized. I instantly fell in love with this adorable cart that can be purchased at your local Ikea store. The cart has four casters which makes it easy for you to move around. If your craft room looks like mine, space is very limited so it’s small size is definitely a plus.

Updated Raskog Cart Organisation

You can use the cart in different ways, including as an extra work area in the kitchen, as practical storage in the hall, or as a unique nightstand in your bedroom. The adjustable middle section is easy to move to adapt to different storage needs. If you, too, have fallen in love the RÅSKOG Utility cart (it runs about $29.99) click here and I will take you over to the Ikea website so you can check availability in your area.

Honey Garlic Shrimp

Thanks to Kevin & Amanda you can have this delicious meal on the table in under an hour. Not only is this tasty dish perfect for those “need-it-in-a-hurry” moments, but it’s also on the healthy side. Sautéed shrimp and red bell peppers are poured over a bed of spiraled zucchini and yellow squash. So delicious and flavorful!

Welcome back to Weekly Scrapper! I am honored to have the opportunity to share today’s amazing projects and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

Summer Themed Pocket Pages By Jamie Waters

With summer in full swing, that means lots of fun activities which also means lots of pictures. Pocket page albums are a great way to keep those memories alive. They’re quick, easy and oh-so-adorable. I love what Jamie did with her fun beach pics.

It’s time to get those photos off our phones and into our scrapbooks and with a little help from our creative friend Jamie it’s a piece of cake. Just because your pockets are a certain shape doesn’t mean you have to stay in the lines I love how Jamie has elements that poke out the top giving the layout a relaxed, fun feel to suit her carefree summer photos.

Animal Silhouette Cards by Riikka Kovasin

I have a soft spot for silhouettes, so when I came across these gorgeous cards I immediately knew I had to share the inspiration. Riikka used a Gelliplate to create her beautiful backgrounds but you can use any method you choose to create your own unique colored backgrounds. The silhouettes where from the Scrap FX lineclick here and I’ll escort you over so you can check out all the amazing treasures that they have to offer.

Animal silhouette cards

I’d like to take this opportunity to send out a virtual hug to Riikka for being such an amazing inspiration to her fellow paper crafters. For an entire list of materials used to create these little works of art, click here and I would be happy to take you over to Riikka’s blog Paperiliitin.

Capture The Moment by Elina

This post goes out to all you photo enthusiasts. I fell in love with the stamp set by Visible Image titled Capture The Moment – it includes gorgeous words that we can add to our scrapbook layouts, cards, and mixed media projects, and a superb camera, too! Elina used Bister powders. Bister works like watercolour powder (e.g. Brusho), but it is an organic product, made by boiling the soot of wood or walnut shells.

Capture The Moment'

It’s time to break out your favorite watercoloring medium and the heat gun and create your own unique backgrounds. Someone special is waiting to receive one of your handmade treasures in the mail. Click here and I will be happy to take you over so you can spend some creative time with Elina – you’ll be glad you did!

Think of all the money we are going to save! I recently purchased a pair of Vans with a Star Wars theme for my daughter for $100 but now I will be creating my own. Saturdays With LeAnn

Because You Are Amazing

Another wonderful weekend is here!  I hope you have had a great week and are ready to share part of your weekend with me.  Today I want to inspire you with projects from several fabulous designers.  Each designer has their own unique talent.  I hope you will take some time to enjoy their styles and create some of the new things I’m sharing with you today.

Oh Shine By Riikka Kovasin

I wanted to share this layout today because of the wonderful background that uses different techniques and mediums.  Creating your own background is a great way to add some visual interest to layouts.  Using layers of dimension will draw the viewer into the focal point of your layout.  My favorite is how Riikka uses her washi tape to give contrast and appeal to her layout.  Some people think of mixed media as being busy, but remember that it can be elegant and soothing and complement your photos.

Oh Shine

There are a lot of different techniques involved in this background, however, the photo still takes center stage.  Riikka kept things simple using soft colors and glitter.  I love when you can take time to be creative and make something brand new.  Now is the time to break out some of your fun mediums, distress inks, embossing powders, and your favorite stamps and stencils.  Have fun creating a beautiful background on your next layout!

Hello By Karen Letchworth

I have to admit my eyes were drawn immediately to this retro telephone image combined with the fun embellishments on this card, and I thought you would also be inspired by this sweet card designed by Karen Letchworth.  Who doesn’t love cards? I know we all enjoy pretty things with lovely details. There is nothing better than getting a handmade treasure in the mail that was made with love.

Don’t you just love being inspired by the creations of other talented artists?  Once you have found an adorable card, you can take the time to recreate it and add your own personal touch.  Now that you have fallen in love with this sweet card, let me take you on over to Karen’s blog My Cup Runneth Over where you will find the supplies that Karen used.  Karen always does such a perfect job with her layering skills. You will be in awe when you see all the different possibilities she created!

Because You Are Amazing by Amy Lee

Are you ready for some more fun and inspiration?  This is one of those “wow” cards that you can create using a few different techniques along with some calming colors.  I love how the mini scallop square is a die cut using watercolor paper, then heat embossed with roses all over the background. Amy also die cut some flourishes from watercolor paper and vellum using the leaf flourishes.

Because You Are Amazing

For Amy’s beautiful color she used distress inks and a mini blending tool, then brushed the same ink colors with a wet paint brush giving it a watercolor look.  Wouldn’t you love to be the one who receives this gorgeous card?  Click here and I will take you over to The Craft Bunny where you will be able to get all the supplies needed and find more fabulous projects by Amy.

Flower Box By Tami Mayberry

This darling little flower box is a perfect size for a small gift and card to give to someone special.  It is fast, fun, and very easy to create. You will want to make several while you have all your materials pulled out so you will have plenty on hand!

Flower card Box

You are just a few basic supplies away from creating this fun up-cycled flower box in just minutes.  Click here and I will take you over to the Sizzix blog where you can find all the dies and steps to create yours.  This is a project you will have so much fun creating!

Watermelon Cooler By Kelly Senyei

Here in Utah we have been having a heat wave and boy, is it HOT!  When I came upon these watermelon coolers I couldn’t have been happier.  What a refreshing treat on a hot summer day! This yummy cooler is the consistency of a slushie without the sugar high!

Watermelon Cooler

You can pour the coolers into chilled mason jars for a fun summertime twist.  Tie a different color of ribbon around the tops of the jars so everyone can keep track of their beverage. (I think it makes them look very cute as well!)  Come on over with me to Just A Taste where you can get the recipe from Kelly.  You will put smiles on your family’s faces.  Such a great way to cool down!

I have really enjoyed sharing these projects today and hope they have been inspiring for you.  Thank you for taking the time to stop by.  Looking for additional inspiration?  Visit Weekly Scrapper every day, and make sure to pop back here next Saturday; I promise I will have more inspiring projects for you!  Enjoy your weekend!
