Adding Color to Black & White Elements by Missy Whidden

There is nothing like a beautiful watercolored background to make a black & white photo just pop. Missy used the Faith > Fear Collection by Illustrated Faith on this layout. The collection is entirely black & white which leaves your color options wide open. I love the contrast of this black & white collection. Click here and I’ll take you over for a peek of all the pieces that are available.

For more details click here and I will be honored to take you over to the Bella Blvd blog so you can follow along as Missy shares many tips and tricks on how easily this adorable layout comes together. Happy scrappin’!

You Are Amazing By Yoonsun Hur

Since we already have the watercolors out, I thought you might enjoy this sweet card designed by the very talented Yoonsun. Have you had the opportunity to play with Altenew multilayer stamps yet? They really take the guesswork out of creating a beautiful bold contrast, or you can use your favorite coloring medium for a soft and subtle look.

No matter what your style is, you are sure to fall in love with all the possibilities. Yoonsun stamped the image using Versa Fine Onyx Ink than watercolored the flowers with Distress Inks, but feel free to use what you have on hand. Have fun experimenting with different coloring mediums to alter the finished piece.

Mini Album By Suzz

What’s not to love about mini albums?  They are the instant gratification of scrapbooking, not to mention they make the perfect gift for those special people in your life.  With a little guidance from our crafty friend Suzanne, you, too, can whip up several of these little works of art for the holidays. Add a few photos and some meaningful sentiments and you have a gift that will be treasured for years to come. The large house in the set measures approximately 5″ tall by 3 5/8″ wide, which can easily handle of few carefully cropped pics and lots of stamping. After all, there is no better gift than the gift of memories, right?

I couldn’t resist sharing a 2nd photo of the inside. Be sure to stop by the Funkie Junkie Blog to check out the album in its entirety. You’re gonna love it!

I love the fact that Suzanne created her own mini album using the Tiny House Die by Tim Holtz. What a creative way to use the die. I must confess, I loved the die before but I haven’t purchased it yet. I was on the fence thinking how many little houses can one make, but when you add in mini albums – well that’s another story!  After seeing what Suzanne did with this project It’s now on my list to purchase at our Sacramento show in a few weeks.

Creamy Lemon Parmesan Chicken Piccata

It’s lemon time in my neck of the woods (sunny southern CA) so I am on the hunt for ways to use them. My family and friends love this creamy chicken over pasta, but a piccata can be served over anything: rice, zucchini noodles, steamed vegetables, or anything else you can think of. Have fun making this dish your own.

Be sure to stop by and visit with Karina on her amazing food blog Cafe Delites; you and your family will be glad you did. Big hugs to Karina for helping us kick things up a notch or two in the kitchen. Bon appetit!

Thanks for stopping by, have an amazing week, and I’ll see you next Sunday with some really fun projects to get you in the fall spirit. If you happen to be in Sacramento, CA the 3rd weekend of Oct (10/20 – 10/21) or in Ontario, CA the first weekend in Nov (11/3 – 11/4) we would love to have you join us at our last two shows of the year! I will meet you at the Creativity Center and we can create something beautiful together.

Video Featuring Felicity Jane Kits & Gilmore Girls

Happy Thursday my friends, it’s time for Inspiration Station with Becki Adams. Welcome! I have a fun feature for you today. Last week, I created a layout with the Felicity Jane Zoey kit. I LOVED playing with that kit for last weeks project so I decided to create another layout WITH a process video. Raise your hand if you’re a Gilmore Girls fan. I’m raising my hand, I love that show! I love to escape to Stars Hollow every once in a while. I created this layout to document my love for the Gilmore Girls. Come see this gorgeous kit and how this layout came together in this process video.

This layout came together so quickly. I love working with a kit because I can work so quickly. When I have a limited number of supplies (that all coordinate) I can put a layout together in a matter of minutes.Do you enjoy working with kits? I would love to hear what kits you enjoy creating with. Leave a comment below and tell me if you create with kits, and which kits you enjoy the most. Make sure you stop by the Felicity Jane website and check out all their amazing products. You’ll love their beautiful style! Tell them hello from the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo team. Thank you for stopping by the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo blog. I’ll be back again next week with some inspiration for all of my card makers. I’ll see you then 🙂

Felicity Jane & the Solar Eclipse

Hello friends, Becki here with a fun special feature for you. Felicity Jane is an awesome kit club that I know you’ll fall in love with as quickly as I have. While attending the SPC mixed media event in Salt Lake City, I met the owner of Felicity Jane. Jeana is adorable! We had a great time chatting. I loved learning about her company and drooling over her beautiful products. Recently Felicity Jane sent me a kit to play with. Today, I have two projects that I created with the, Zoey kit. This kit is absolutely gorgeous!! Not only is it beautiful, the products in the kit are high quality as well. Before we talk about the contents of the kit and what I created with the kit, I have to show you what you’ll find when you open a Felicity Jane kit. The Felicity Jane team packages each kit beautifully. Not only can you use the beautiful products to create with, you can also use the beautiful packaging as well. A few days ago, our family was able to watch the solar eclipse. I used the Zoey kit to document our family’s memories of this event. While I did use a white cardstock background, I added a LOT of color to complete the layout. At the top of the page, I added the title “solar eclipse” using the black puffy sticker alphabet. These letters are perfect and so versatile. My favorite embellishment from this kit is the large chipboard numbers. I used the chipboard numbers to create a huge date across the top of the page. I did use something from each embellishment package on this layout. Aren’t those giant sequins so cute?!?! Some of them are adhered with liquid adhesive and some of them are adhered with pop dots. I love using acetate embellishments but adhering them can be tricky. My favorite way to adhere acetate embellishments is to stitch them in place. By sewing them in place, you don’t have to worry about adhesive showing through the acetate.

When I was finished creating my “solar eclipse” layout, I wasn’t quite finished playing with the Zoey kit so I created a card. Did I mention that there is a stamp set in each Felicity Jane kit? Yes, there is a stamp set in each kit. I used the Zoey stamp set to stamp the sentiment on this card. I also added the “zoey” die cut to the front of the card. I had so much fun creating with this kit. I can’t wait to keep creating with this kit. I loved creating my first two projects. Stay tuned for many more projects with the Felicity Jane, Zoey kit. Make sure you hop on over to Felicity Jane, say hello, and order your first Felicity Jane kit. I can’t wait to see what you create with this beautiful kit! I’ll be back next week for another edition of Inspiration Station, I’ll see you then!

Saturdays With LeAnn

Let Your Dreams Soar

Good Saturday morning, my friends!  My favorite time of the week, time for me to share more inspiration and fun projects with you!  I hope you are all geared up to learn more new techniques and create beautiful items that will brighten your crafting weekend!  So let’s sit back, relax and enjoy today’s wonderful projects by many talented designers!

Hooray By Jill Keller

This layout is for those of you who love to add some hand stitching on your layouts.  What an adorable way to remember what age your precious child or grandchild was in their photo.  I love the look of sewing on all my papercrafts, from scrapbooking layouts to greeting cards.  Sewing and embroidery adds dimension without a lot of bulk and has the added benefit of attaching elements to the page in the process.  You can sew by hand or with your machine, and both techniques are easier than you might think.  I love the character it gives to the layout!

Hooray

Scrapbook pages are such treasured moments and memories.  Don’t you just love to pull out your scrapbooks and reminisce about all those fond memories?  Down the road you will feel like you walked through memory lane!  Jill captured a sweet moment of her darling daughter on her 5th birthday.  Jill’s layout is full of fun elements, and she has such a great way of giving layouts a nice contrast.  I am sure you would love to see more of Jill’s talent with her scrapbooking, so let me take you on over to Creating Us.  Take some time and enjoy her inspiration of her beautiful creations.

Love You Mini Album by Karen Letchworth

You’ll often hear me say that mini albums are the instant gratification of scrapbooking. Don’t you just love it when you can complete an entire album in one sitting? They are the perfect gift for any occasion and who wouldn’t appreciate receiving a handmade mini album full of priceless memories? To create the actual book itself Karen used a small glassine bag that she folded over, covered with inked patterned papers and embellished with lots of ribbons that you can find over at Really Reasonable RibbonsClick here and I will take you over for a visit – they really have an amazing selection.  You can never have too much ribbon in your stash, right?  😉

With a little help from our creative friends Karen and Really Reasonable Ribbons, you, too, can put together an adorable mini album in no time. Kudos to you for keeping those memories alive one page at a time. Happy scrapping, my friends!

Dandelions In The Wind By Tracy

I have a thing for dandelions; they just make me smile. We all have those fond childhood memories of blowing Dandelions into the air while making a wish. I love how Tracy incorporated that sweet memory into the theme of her card. Who wouldn’t be smiling from ear to ear after finding this handmade treasure in their mailbox?

For all you dandelion fans, here are a few pieces of trivia for you. Did you know that there are 250 different species of dandelion? There are many folklore superstitions that have been attached to dandelions over the years.  In addition to granting wishes, many people believe that dandelion seeds will carry your thoughts and dreams to loved ones when you blow them into the air. I love the fuzzy behind that possibility, I hope you’ve been inspired to send a few wishes to someone you love today. Hugs to all!

Lunch Sack Card Pouches By Becky Roberts

I love how Becky transformed a plain brown paper bag into an adorable gift card holder. This is one of those “why didn’t I think of that?” moments. Think about it, if you sew up a bunch of these at one time you’ll have them all ready whenever you need a gift card holder. All you have to do is add a few embellishments and a sentiment and you are good to go. Big hugs to Becky for sharing the inspiration.

As you can see by Becky’s adorable card, paper bags are the perfect base for a gift card holder. With a few simple straight stitches, you have a perfect pocket to hold a gift card or two. It’s a real bonus that the kraft colored lunch sacks are so inexpensive and easy to find. You can even pick them up on your next trip to the grocery store. Have fun with this project; the possibilities are endless.

Oh Happy Day Layout By Riikka Kovasin

I instantly fell in love with this artsy layout designed by the very talented Riikka Kovasin. Riikka truly is the Queen of all that is Mixed Media. To see how Riikka transformed a plain sheet of white cardstock into this gorgeous work of art, click here and I’ll take you over to the Paperiliitin blog so you can follow along.

This is a Happy Life by Amanda Southern

This next project designed by Amanda Southern is sure to get those creative juices flowing – it’s play time, my creative friends! You know my motto, if we don’t get in there and play with our toys we will never know what we are capable of, right?  I love how Amanda used some of her scrap geli-prints to die cut those artsy little Metropolis buildings.

I know you’re holding your breath wondering “Where do I get that die?” Not to worry, just click here and I will take you over to That’s Crafty where you can order your own. The Cityscape-Metropolis is designed to cut and emboss and can also be used as a stencil. I know it will be a “need it in your life” die. Amanda really broke out the big dogs on this little treasure so be sure to stop by her blog for a complete supply list along with step-by-step instructions.

Prayers & Hugs Card By Amy Rysavy

Be the reason someone smiles today. Opening the mailbox to discover one of your handmade cards is like receiving a hug through the mail. On this sweet card, Amy stamped the flowers with Distress Inks using Simon Says Wild Beauty Stamp Set and Hero Arts Prayers Stamp & Die Set for the sentiment.   I love the soft painted look that the Distress Inks add to the card. To achieve this look be sure to use watercolor paper, otherwise, the ink won’t move the way you want it to and you’ll loose that artsy look.

If you are a visual person like myself, I highly recommend checking out Amy’s video, you’re going to love all the tips she has to share. Time to break out your favorite stamp sets and your ever growing stash of Distress Inks and create something beautiful today.

Chicken Asparagus Roll

If you are a fan of Chicken Cordon Bleu than you are going to love Jessica’s version of this classic chicken recipe. With the coming of spring brings fresh asparagus, add in some ham and gooey cheese all wrapped up in a chicken cutlet then top it off with a yummy, creamy sauce and you have a delicious dinner in no time.

With a little help from our friend Jessica, you too can have your chicken and eat it, too. Click here and I will lead the way over to her blog One Sweet Appetite so you can print out the recipe. Enjoy, my hungry friends!

Thanks for stopping by, I always enjoy our creative time together. Have a wonderful week and I’ll meet you back here next Sunday. If by chance you happen to be in the Orlando area next weekend (May 5th & 6th), I’ll meet you at the Gaylord Palms Resort where we’ll be hosting Stamp & Scrapbook Expo.  Hugs to all!

Four Photo Layout with Video Tutorial

Four Photo layout with Video Tutorial by @jbckadams for @scrapbookexpo.com #scrapbooking #ssbe2017 #PinkPaislee #PaigeEvans #ohmyheart

Hey there Stamp & Scrapbook Expo friends and fans, Becki here to share with you a four photo layout with a video tutorial. I know a lot of you are fans of multi photo layouts, I think you love the layout I have to share with you today. I used three 3×4 layouts and one 4×6 photo. The collection I used to create this layout is the “Oh My Heart” collection by our very own Paige Evans and Pink Paislee. The day before Easter, our family went to see the new Beauty and the Beast movie. This layout documents our adventure to the movie theater.

Because there are 4 photos on this layout, there isn’t a lot of room for embellishment. My favorite embellishment cluster on this layout is at the beginning of the title. I found these two chipboard stickers in the Oh My Heart Thicker pack. I knew they would be perfect for this project. I added a bit of foam adhesive behind the books to create dimension at the beginning of the title. The second embellishment cluster is at the bottom right of the layout. I simply found embellishments that complimented the theme/color combination of the layout. I created the cluster with chipboard, die cuts, a metal charm, and a paper clip. The typed journaling is above the embellishments to the right of the title. Around each embellishment cluster, I sprinkled a little bit of black ink as a finishing touch.

Come see how this layout came together in the process video and see how I fix an adhesive mishap after I set this project aside for a couple of days.

I love this layout because it preserves such a happy memory for our family. I hope you’ve enjoyed this four photo layout with a video tutorial. Do you prefer layouts with one photo, two photos, or many photos? I’d love to hear how you document your story. Thank you for stopping by the Weekly Scrapper blog. I’ll see you again next Thursday.
