Saturday With LeAnn

Hello

Hello again to all my crafty friends and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper!  I hope you are enjoying a nice, relaxing weekend.  I am so happy you made your way over to be with me today.  It is an honor to have the opportunity to share inspiration from some of the most talented people in our industry.  Please take a few minutes today to sit back, relax, and enjoy today’s creative therapy!

You Can Do It By Cathy Cafun

I immediately fell in love with this beautiful layout that I discovered on Cathy Cafun’s blog, Cathy Can’t Help Herself.  I always feel inspired and enjoy all of her beautiful paper crafting skills.  This layout gives such a soft feminine feel and really gives a pop to her photo.  Even though there are a lot of fine details going on, the embellishments really complement her photo and allow it to still take center stage on this lovely layout.  It is always such a treasure to preserve our priceless memories by taking lots of photos, then taking the time to scrapbook them.

You Can Do It

Cathy created this beautiful layout using the L’Aquarelle Collection from Ultimate Crafts.  Cathy also used coordinating dies, embossing folders, and stamps, along with fussy cutting to make some of her own embellishments.  This beautiful vintage work of art has truly inspired me.  I love how Cathy incorporated warm colors that retained the vintage style. Click here and I will take you on over to Cathy’s blog, Cathy Can’t Help Herself, where you will find all the products needed to create one of your own.  A big shout out to Cathy for sharing this wonderful inspiration with us.

Sundays With Lorraine

Hello, my crafty friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper! Today we have a scrapbook layout, a gorgeous watercolor card, a DIY trash-to-treasure project and, of course, a delicious meal that will get you out of the kitchen (and back into your craft room where you belong) in no time! 😉  So sit back, relax, and enjoy today’s creative therapy! You deserve a little creative “me” time.

Sweetie Love Layout By Riikka Kovasin

There is so much more than first meets the eye when you look at this gorgeous layout. I was truly inspired by the way the artsy background complements the photo versus competing for the attention that it deserves. It looks complicated but with a little help from your creative friend Riikka you, too, can pull off your own work of art in no time. Big hugs to Riikka for showing us how it’s done.

I hope you’ve been inspired to break out your favorite coloring mediums and create your own unique backgrounds. There is something to be said about creating a one-of-a-kind piece. Whether you are a mixed media queen like Riikka or just getting your feet wet, you are sure to pick up a few techniques from Riikka’s video so be sure to check it out. Click here and I will be happy to take you over to her blog Paperiliitin. Happy scrappin’ my friends!

Watercolored Backgrounds By Shari Carroll

I confess, I seem to be on a watercolor kick, but in my defense, there are so many amazing projects using all kinds of fun techniques that it’s hard to resist sharing the inspiration. Whether you’re creating a card, tag, scrapbook layout, art journal pages, etc., there is always room for some watercolor magic.

More often than not when designing a card I don’t add the sentiment until the need arises; that way you’re ready for any occasion.  Just grab one of your cards, add a greeting, and you are good to go. Many of you know that I travel often with the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo, so things can get hectic. This habit of making my cards without committing to a specific occasion has saved me many times. I highly recommend creating your own stash of not only cards but also background pieces to use at a later date. It’s a real time saver when you’re in a pinch.

DIY Jewelry Storage By Christy

How cute is this shabby chic Jewelry Tower?!  I can definitely see this beauty sitting on my dresser – it’s perfect to toss your favorite pieces of jewelry into at the end of the day, or maybe your hair accessories in one layer. I absolutely love the blue dishes with the distressed candlesticks, however, you can easily customize your own Jewelry Tower to fit your style and space.

The next time you’re going to yard sales or visiting your favorite thrift store, don’t hesitate to pick up those pretty dishes and make something beautiful. Kudos to you for saving our landfills one recycled piece at a time! One person’s trash is another crafter’s treasure.

Salmon Teriyaki With Pineapple Salsa By Sara

I don’t know about you, but I would much rather be creating something beautiful in my craft room instead of hanging out in a hot kitchen! I bet you feel the same way. With a little help from the culinary master Sara, we can all have a healthy and delicious meal on the table in no time.

Flaky and tender fish, sweet and savory teriyaki sauce, and a tropical tasting salsa – you can’t go wrong! Click here and I will escort you over to one of my favorite food blogs Dinner At The Zoo. I must admit it’s thanks to Sara that my family eats so well.

I do hope you will take a minute or two to visit the individual blogs I have shared to see more details on these wonderful projects. Hugs to all who have shared the inspiration for today’s post. Have an amazing week and I’ll see you next Sunday.  If you happen to be in the neighborhood of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St Paul. I’ll be at the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo and would love to meet you in person. I hope I get to see you at the show!

For You By Lorraine Aquilina

Incorporating water into your project can give it a unique look.  It can be an image of water, or water coloring, or just splashing water onto your creation.  Today’s beautiful card was created by using Oxide Ink Pads for Lorraine’s background, which gives a lovely chalky effect when splashed with liquid.  What a beautiful masterpiece!  Can you just imagine the look on your mom’s face when she opens up this gorgeous card?  I have to say those mason jars just finish the card. They always are lovely and make you feel happy!

For You

This card is perfect for Mother’s Day, however, it is one of those cards that could also be used for many other occasions.  A big shout out to Lorraine for sharing her talent with us.  Be sure to pop on over to Lorraine’s Loft where you will see how she created this darling card.  Be sure to look at all of her other fabulous projects as well.  Have fun creating!

Window Shadow Box By Christy K James

Make a creative home decor project just by using an old window that you can find at a garage sale or thrift store.  It will make a great choice of decor for your wall.  Embellish this shadow box with a variety of decorative accents and some choice photos.  This will certainly be an eye catcher in your home.  The possibilities are endless, and the best thing about this it is one-of-a-kind!

Sundays With Lorraine

Hello my crafty friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper. It makes my heart sing knowing that you were able to carve out a little “me time” from your busy weekend to be creative, so sit back, relax, and enjoy today’s creative therapy, you deserve it!.

Sweet & Precious Layout By Natasha

I instantly fell in love with this shabby chic layout that I discovered on one of my favorite paper crafting blogs Moments of Tranquility. A shabby-chic and/or vintage inspired design embodies a soft, relaxed, feminine feel which worked out perfectly with the sweet black & white photo. Even though there are a lot of fine details going on, the embellishments complement the photo allowing the photo to take center stage. After all, isn’t that why we scrapbook book – to preserve our priceless memories/photos?  I’d like to send out a big hug to Natasha for showing us how it’s done.

There is so much more than meets the eye going on with this gorgeous layout,  I recommend stopping by and spending some quality time with Natasha as she shares step-by-step instructions on how she created all those fine details. Happy scrapping, my friends!

Coffee & Friends Card By Amy Rysavy

If you’re looking for a fast and easy card that comes together in no time you are going to love this sweet friendship card designed by the very talented Amy Rysavy. Amy used Doodlebug’s Latte Love Shape Sprinkles for the focal point and I am in love with these adorable self-adhesive enamel shapes! Doodlebug Sprinkles are a fun way to add a little shimmer to all your paper crafting projects without adding a lot of bulk.

To see how quickly this adorable card came together be sure to check out Amy’s YouTube video by clicking here. I hope you’ve been inspired to create one of your handmade cards and mail it out to someone special. Receiving a handmade made card through the mail is a perfect way to let those you love know how special they are.

Paper Lanterns

Decorating for a party can be expensive, so why not create a few of the decorations yourself? These paper lanterns are simple to make and since you already have a healthy stash of paper they cost practically nothing. to make. Other than the paper and your favorite adhesive all you need are a few flameless candles and you’re good to go. I’ve seen the smaller tea lights at the Dollar Tree store but you can also find them at most chain stores and many craft stores.

I hope you’ve been inspired to break out your favorite patterned papers and give this craft a try, they’re great to use as a table decoration but they’re also fun to hang from the ceiling with fishing line. For additional inspiration, I recommend stopping by the BoBunny blog which is where I discovered this fun project.

Lemon Chicken & Asparagus Foil Packs By Tiffany

Here in Southern California it already feels like summer, the last 2 days have been in the high 80’s, and I am so ready to heat up the BBQ. But even if you’re not ready to break out the grill you can also cook this tasty dish in the oven, so not to worry. What’s not to love about a delicious dinner on the table in about 30 minutes and no pots and pans to scrub?

Tiffany is the Queen of simple stress-free meals so I highly recommend stopping by her blog Creme de la Crumb not only to print out this recipe but also to pint out a few others for future meals. You and your family will be glad you did!

Thanks for stopping by, I always enjoy our creative time together. Have a wonderful week and I’ll meet you back here next Sunday. Hugs to all!

Saturdays With LeAnn

Blessed

Saturdays-with-LeAnn

Well, another week has flown by and I do hope you all had a wonderful week.  It is so fun this time of year to start planning those fall projects, so sit back, relax, and enjoy. It is time to show you some fun projects that will bring oodles of creative inspiration to your day!

Captured Moments By Cathy Cafun

Today I want to inspire you with this beautiful layout that has a lovely vintage/shabby chic feel.  I love the soft muted brown, cream, and blue colors, with a beautiful range of floral and textures that give it that rustic feel.  This layout has all the components of a perfect page.  Micro-beads are a fabulous way to add more texture to your layout.  Cathy used a touch of gold micro-beads on the leaves by dipping a small brush in clear gloss varnish and randomly brushing over the leaves, which really gives them a pop.

Captured Moments

Cathy added a beautiful lacy chipboard coated with Dusty Attic acrylic paint behind the photo to give it a lovely, feminine touch.  She finished it off by adding a touch of lace to the torn layers and hessian twine to frame the photo. This definitely will pop and draw your eyes to the photo.  I hope you have been inspired by this beautiful layout.  Let’s pop on over to “Cathy Can’t Help Herself” where you will find additional details on how this fabulous page was created.  You will find yourself so inspired by Cathy and her wonderful talent.

Happy Fall By Anna-Karin

Here in Utah it is starting to feel more like fall.  The leaves are changing colors and the air is crisp.  I am having a hard time letting go of summer, but I do have to admit I love the different seasons. I especially enjoy this time of year with the vibrant colors and the beauty of fall.  With that being said, I would like to share this adorable card created by Anna-Karin.

Happy Fall

The beauty of Anna-Karin’s card is that it works great for an autumn card or you can turn it into a fun Thanksgiving card.  Anna-Karin always shares techniques that can be applied to different types of projects. The background of her card would look wonderful on a scrapbook page as well.  Come along with me over to Layers Of Ink where she will give you a full tutorial of her step- by-step autumn card.  You will be so inspired that you will want to pull out your embossing folders and stamps and begin your fall crafting!

Blessed By Kay Miller

This card certainly will brighten anyone’s day!  The beautiful watercolored background was created by using Peerless watercolors, then splattered with a little bit of red.  The “Blessed” sentiment is layered three times, adding some of the Fancy Foliage Detail die cuts, giving the the card a pretty, fall flair.

Blessed

This is such a great time of year to feel blessed, so I hope this beautiful card has inspired you to create one of your own handmade designs and mail it off to someone special.  Click here and I will take you on over to My Joyful Moments so Kay can share all of her products that she used in designing her sweet card.

With school being back in session, you probably need some yummy snack ideas for lunch, a even or quick, running-out-the-door breakfast idea.  And who doesn’t love granola?  Your kiddos will think you are the best ever!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Granola

The basic recipe is so easy and yummy and you can really add anything you want to it.  You can create it adding chocolate or peanut butter chips, raisins or craisins, and your favorite nuts.  If you are a coconut lover you will want to be sure to add that into your granola, too.  Your family will go crazy over this, so you might want to make a double batch it as it won’t last long!  Click here and I will take you on over to A Homemade Life Simply Kierste where she will share the ingredients and recipe with you.  Enjoy! 🙂

Happy Saturday, my friends!  It makes me so happy knowing you are taking sometime to relax and enjoy what you love most.  Sit back, get comfy, and enjoy some of today’s inspiration!

Take Me Away By Jan

This layout all started with a simple background and a few fabulous photos.  As you look at these photos you get that feeling of “Take Me Away” just as the title states. I love how Jan used the Tim Holtz Crosshatch frameworks die at the bottom left corner and added some embossing powder to the die cut.

Take Me Away

As scrapbookers, we know that it’s all about sharing the memories and preserving the moments.  This masterpiece certainly captures a special memory and gives joy and fulfillment. This wonderful layout also includes washi tape placed on cardstock, which was then die cut and accented with gold paint.  The embossed paper was dry brushed with a light green paint on the raised map area. What a fabulous layout created by Jan. Be sure to visit her blog, The Urban Scrapbook, whenever you are in need of some inspiration!

I am also excited to share some great projects that I discovered this week on several blogs. I love this saying: “All good things come to those who craft.” I think it’s the perfect motto for National Scrapbooking Day! I hope you will be inspired by the projects I have collected to share with you today.

All Smiles By Gabrielle Pollacco

The first project today is a beautiful layout created by Gabrielle Pollacco.  I love the vintage charm of this layout!  Gabrielle has added beautiful embellishments and details to this layout, and yet her priceless photo is still the first thing your eyes are drawn to. What a beautiful way to preserve a special photo.

All Smiles

Gabrielle used the classic papers from the Maja Design “Life by the Sea” collection.  You can add a little accent just by tearing the two papers and curling back the edges.  Chipboard pieces are one of my favorite embellishments and they add so much character and dimension to a layout. Spice them up by adding some color to get that perfect look for your layout.  Just have fun and remember there are no set rules when it comes to creating your layouts.  I am always inspired when I visit Gabrielle’s blog, so skip on over to Such a Pretty Mess and you will be inspired, too!

Soft And Sweet By Cherry Nelson

With Mother’s Day tomorrow, it’s not too late to create this darling card for a special mother.  This card is filled with a pretty, shabby chic look and is perfect for a wonderful mother.

Soft And Sweet

Whether you keep your card simple or very detailed, your creation will always stand out and be remembered.  Cards may be small but they are packed with so much love and inspiration.  Click here and I will escort you over to spend some time with Cherry Nelson.  You are sure to love her blog and will certainly be inspired by all of her beautiful projects!

April In Paris By Emma Williams

Today we have a fabulous card created by Emma Williams using the outstanding stamp April in Paris by Penny Black.  So stunning and inspiring!  I love how these wonderful stamps give endless possibilities for being creative. Don’t you just love the beautiful colors, textured layers, and fantastic coloring?

April In Paris

Come with me over to Penny Black’s Project Guide for step-by-step instructions.  You will be able to follow along on how to create your own beautiful card, along with a complete list of supplies needed. Who wouldn’t love a little extra color in their world?  What a choice card to brighten up someone’s day! I hope you will be inspired to give this one a try.  Have fun stamping, my crafty friends! 🙂

Antique Window By Cindy

Today I would like to share how to take an old window and turn it from trash into treasure.  Who would have ever thought by adding some paint, beautiful lace, and fun hearts you could transform an old window into a treasured wall décor piece?  Old windows can really give character to a home.

Antique Window

I have a couple in my home and always get so many compliments on them.  One of the first remarks I usually get is who would have ever thought an old window could be so stunning.  The next question is “Where did you ever find an old window?”  The answer to the question is to look at yard sales.  Sometime you can even go to the dump and find them there.  Come along with me over to DIY Beautify where Cindy will give you instructions on how she created her outstanding antique window.  Be sure to browse her blog for more wonderful and inspirational ideas.  You will certainly have a blast creating some new things for your home!

Peach Tart By Kelly Senyei

OK, my crafty friends, it is time to take a break and go into the kitchen and whip up a yummy dessert for your weekend.  This Five-Ingredient Peach Tart is one that everyone is going to love.  Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and wow, you have won everyone’s heart!

Peach Tart

Slices of juicy peaches do all of the talking.  With a layer of buttery puff pastry for the bottom, lemon juice, an egg, and a dusting of confectioner’s sugar to top it off, this is pure flavor of perfection. It is so simple and very, very yummy!  How much better does this get?  You will serve one amazing dessert!

I hope you have been inspired today.  I will be at the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo in Denver on May 13th and 14th. Please stop at the Registration Desk and say hello, I would love to see you! Happy Mother’s Day to all of you special moms; I hope you have a fabulous weekend.
