Saturdays With LeAnn

Merry Christmas

Saturdays-with-LeAnn

Welcome back, my dear friends, to Weekly Scrapper!  Today is a special day because it is “World Card Making Day”!  The party started yesterday with our “Freebie Friday” post, so if you haven’t yet entered to win that great prize of cardmaking supplies, make sure to visit our post from Friday HERE. For today’s celebration we are featuring all cards, and as I share these beautiful ideas and great techniques, my hope is that you will find some wonderful inspiration.  Isn’t it hard to believe that it is the first day of October?  We are at the very beginning of the holiday season, and dare I say that I am already starting to get into the holiday spirit?!  Now is a good time to begin to think of your holiday cards so I included a beautiful Christmas card below. It’s never too early to start getting your ideas together.

Thanks By Loll Thompson

This card was created using a fun and unique technique called marbling. What a stunning way to create some soft colors by using shaving cream and re-inkers.  What a great effect; I absolutely love this technique! It never surprises me what fun ideas cardmakers come up with to use on projects.  This technique is also a wonderful way to create lovely backgrounds.  I think you will love this and be very happy with the end results.  And did I say it was easy, too?

Thanks

Marbling

The second card was made with the leftover piece from the die cut above, using the marbling effect for the background.  Don’t you just love it when something so simple comes together and looks so beautiful?  If you have never done the marbling technique, you must give it a try!  Be sure to stop by the Stamping With Loll blog so you can get your products for these gorgeous cards and create some of your own.  Have fun with this technique!

Thinking Of You By Debby Hughes

When I think of hydrangeas, I think of fall. These flowers and leaves are colored so beautifully, giving the card such an elegant look.  I just love stamping and watercoloring and they combine to make it possible to create a piece of art.  The completed project is like a tiny painting!

Thinking Of You

Debby has really outdone herself with this watercolored card.  I highly recommend you stopping by and checking out her other projects, too.  For the complete supply list on what Debby used to create this beautiful card so you can get started on one of your own, click here and I will be honored to escort you over to visit her blog, Lime Doodle Design.

Merry Christmas

Christmas cards are fun to make and they really do put you in the spirit of the holiday.  This lovely card recreates that sweet, warm feeling of Christmas.  This Winter Village stamp set is to die for, and won’t it be so fun to create with it?  A big thank you goes out to Betsy for sharing her talent with these cute stamps.  Let’s pop on over to the Paper Scissors Superheros blog so you can see how Betsy created this beautiful card.

White Chocolate Mummy Truffles By Vera Zecevic

Are you looking for the perfect centerpiece and favors for your Halloween party?  These White Chocolate Mummy Truffles are absolutely perfect for your party, or to share with family and friends. Not only are they super cute, but they are delicious, too!

White Chocolate Mummy Truffles
These yummy little mummies are a simple cola-flavored chocolate truffle melted and decorated with white chocolate.  Your guests will fall in love with them and you will be a hit at the party.  I suggest you make several copies of the recipe; I can promise that you will get asked over and over again for it.  Oh, and you better make a few batches because they are so tasty they won’t last long!

Thank you for joining me in celebrating World Card Making Day!  I hope you have received some sparks of inspiration that will carry over to the people lucky enough to receive one of your handmade cards. What is better than spreading kindness and love to the family and friends we treasure in our lives?  Happy Card Making Day!

Much love!

Freebie Friday – Win a Stamp & Scrapbook Expo T-shirt

Freebie Friday with Jen Walker

Hello and happy Friday! I hope you have had a wonderful week. We had severe heat in Toronto this week, but it is getting better now. Our poor lawns were so green and quickly turned brown as day after day of heat continued. I am glad that the heat has broken, and the rain has watered the lawns, the vegetable gardens and our flowers. So nice to see them perk up a bit! Summer days and sitting outside make me smile.

I also LOVE seeing new scrapbook and cardmaking products so this week has been a fun one. Earlier this week, the Sierra Pacific Craft – Mixed Media event took place in Salt Lake City, Utah. While the team was checking out all the fabulous new products, they captured lots of great photos for me to share with you. Next week I will also have a bunch of in booth videos showing you all the exciting new products that will be available soon.

Enjoy this walk through the aisles … Sneak peeks here we come …

I know I sometimes do! Today I would like to share these Faux Tile backgrounds!  Would you believe that these are created using 3D foam pads?  You can create any color that you desire, and they can be either masculine or feminine. Such a great way to think out of the box!

Faux Tile Backgrounds

This technique is not only very beautiful, but it also adds a lovely touch of dimension and texture to your project.  Who says that adhesive is just for adhering?  I bet you are dying to know how these beautiful Faux Tiles are created, aren’t you?  Click here for a full step-by-step tutorial by Michele Kovack. Fabric Flowers

These flowers are so whimsical with their frayed edges and crumpled fabric. This is such a great way to create some texture on your card.  I would like to take you over to Simon Says Stamp blog where you will learn some wonderful techniques from a YouTube tutorial by Shari Carroll on how to create your flowers. This is such an eye-catching card – I bet you can’t wait to get started creating your own!
