I have been a longtime fan of Audrey Yeager’s scrapbook layouts, among other talents!, and I am so excited to feature her today and show you a brand new layout she made just for her spotlight!

Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: I am a SAHM working part time as an AP Biology teacher. My kiddos are 8 and almost 6 and are the subjects of most of my pages. I started scrapping in 2005. I had a big Halloween party and I wanted to make an album of all the fun costumes and events and that was the first scrapbook album I made. Since then I have been on several design teams, kit clubs, and manufacturer teams and I even owned my own online scrapbook store for about 2 years. When I am not scrapping, I like to quilt, play volleyball, spend time outdoors, and binge watch Netflix and other TV shows.

Favorite thing to create: I love to create single page layouts about everyday events and fun memories about our family.

What do you love about this hobby? I love the outlet it provides as a stress relief and I love that it helps me capture memories and moments that I want to remember forever. I also love meeting new people and the support that both the online and real-life scrapping community provides. I have met so many people through this hobby!

5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I’m a heavy metal/hard rock kind of girl! My favorite bands are Metallica and Tool.
2. We do a little bit of “homesteading” at our house including raising chickens, planting lots of vegetables, and making our own maple syrup.
3. When I was about 12, I used to catch garter snakes at my house and sell them to my local pet store for $1 a foot. They would use them to feed other snakes or sell the bigger ones. I have no problems picking up snakes even to this day!
4. I’ve taught students in almost every grade, Kindergarten through graduate school.
5. I have a brother who is 18 years younger than I am and when he was born (and all throughout my 20’s) people used to think he was my child.

GOOD BOOK by Audrey Yeager

My daughter is really into this series right now, and I love reading with her. The books in the “Oh My Heart” by Paige Evans / Pink Paislee collection were perfect for this page. I tried to recreate the look of a book using lightweight media sheets and embellies to look like book marks (and I even dog-eared the corner of the “book”).

COOL DUDE by Audrey Yeager

I used a fun cut file for the background on this page and played with the design of the squares. I also love this color combo for a boy page!

THIS TREE by Audrey Yeager

For the journaling on this page, I used a combination of stamping and handwriting to tell the story of this tree in our backyard that we loved but had to cut down.

CHORES by Audrey Yeager

I used the Simple Stories Domestic Bliss collection to document the chores I hate doing (and those that I don’t mind doing). The die cuts were perfect for this theme!

I wanted to go grunge this this page about my brother and I listening to loud music. The title has both a literal and a figurative meaning for me on this page!

Thank you so much to Audrey for taking the time to answer my questions and creating a new and stunning page for her feature! See you again in a couple weeks with a new spotlight!

Designer Spotlight with Paige Evans: Tarrah McLean

Hello and welcome to another designer spotlight! Today I’m excited to help you get to know Tarrah McLean and share all of her fantastic scrapbook pages!

Name: Tarrah McLean
Location: Sydney, Australia

Facebook: Tarrah McLean

Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: I am married to my very supportive hubby Simon and together we have 2 handsome sons: Luke who is 11 and Oliver who is 6. I am working in my local scrapbook shop 2 and a half days a week and 2 other days I work in an office. I LOVE both my jobs! I am still as obsessed with scrapbooking today as I was back when I started 11 years ago! Probably a little more obsessed now if the truth be known lol! I started after my first son was born because I wanted a way to document his life and to also fill in time while at home with him. I have never looked back and I could not imagine my life without scrapbooking in it… it is just me all over! My sons are usually the subjects of my layouts but 18 months ago my beautiful niece Amelia was born so now I have a perfect excuse to scrapbook girly layouts! My style has changed tremendously over the years with both taste and a little experience under my belt. I love to include cut files (my Silhouette Cameo is my best friend lol), flair buttons, lots of colour, splats of mist, and machine stitching to my layouts.

Favorite thing to create: I love to create single page layouts the most but I also enjoy creating mini albums and cards too. I really want to try a Traveller’s Notebook but I am scared I will have another addiction and not enough time to feed them all lol!

What do you love about this hobby? Oh everything! The AMAZING products, the inspiring and creative people I have met and still meet, some of the wonderful opportunities I have had come my way (like this one!). I also love that this is hobby is so adaptable, it can be so many different styles and can suit anyone.

5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I love the smell of coffee, but can’t stand the taste of it!
2. My favourite food is Mexican.
3. I am afraid of heights but would love to try hot air ballooning one day.
4. I love music and can listen to just about anything.
5. I like to collect Babushka dolls; my Mum and I will often find them when we travel.

Here is Tarrah’s exclusive, new, and beautiful layout:

Although challenging, I love this pink background paper with the coloured circle from the Shimelle Little By Little collection. I found a perfect photo of my niece that includes a teddy bear to suit my layout theme and design!

@ THE BEACH by Tarrah McLean

I found the Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection ‘Endless Summer’ a beautiful collection to use for summer photos! The colours in this collection are very tropical but still muted. I used a title cut file to enhance my summery layout!

123 DAB by Tarrah McLean

My boys are typical boys so them doing a ‘Dab’ move just had to be recorded on a layout! I chose an eye-catching background cut file for this one and used it together with some Crate Paper boy collections.

The Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection ‘Make a Wish’ is a stunning collection for birthday layouts! I designed my own layered cake and stand cut file for this layout, cutting out each ‘layer’ and then piecing it together to make a cake on a stand.

XOXO by Tarrah McLean

Choosing another striking background cut file made the pink ombre paper from the Simple Stories Love and Adore collection really pop on this layout. The love theme is perfect for a photo from sister’s beautiful wedding day!

I love the variety of Tarrah’s layouts and how they are all unique and FUN! Be sure to stop by her other social media sites listed at the top to see more of her incredible work! See you again next week!

Designer Spotlight with Paige Evans: Pol Prince

Pol Prince has such a lovely scrapbooking style and a knack for hand stitching and I am delighted to introduce her to you today!

Name: Pol Prince
Location: Cheshire, England
Instagram: @polprince
Facebook: pol.prince

Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: I’m 38 years old and I live in the beautiful county of Cheshire in England. I’m mum to three amazing children aged 17, 14, and 7. My family lives close by and are my everything. I’m a part-time childminder and spend the rest of my time either being mums taxi and driving my kids around or scrapping! I’ve been creative all my life but it was only after I had my youngest son and I was diagnosed with PND that I realised my creativity had fallen by the wayside somewhere along the journey of motherhood. I started going to a PND support group at my local SureStart centre, where a lovely lady did a session on cardmaking and scrapbooking. I was instantly hooked and started making cards then very quickly decided to try scrapbooking. I loved it straightaway! I’ve recently joined the Paper Issues Design Team and I’m in my element, I feel so thankful to be doing something I love every day.

Favourite thing to create: Definitely 12×12 pages, although I have done several altered frames as presents and I also enjoy papercutting, which make excellent presents too!

What do you love about this hobby? Ohh, where to start?! I do like the memory keeping aspect of scrapbooking, I like to think my children and grandchildren etc., will enjoy looking back on the photos and also learning a bit about me and our family life. I used to hate journaling on layouts in my own handwriting, I felt it wasn’t neat enough. Then I realised how much I’d love to look back at my mum’s or grandma’s handwriting so now I try to hand write as much possible if it fits in with a page. What I really love though is that when I’m scrapbooking I’m in MY happy place. I love to let my creativity out and even when I’m doing something else I’m always planning my next layout and there’s always ideas whirling round my head. Scrapbooking keeps me happy and chilled out, a necessity with 2 teenagers! Last but not least I love the online scrapbooking community. I’ve met and spoken to so many lovely people who I wouldn’t normally have and generally the scrapping community is so helpful, kind, and encouraging.

5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I absolutely love reading. Books were my first love! When I was a young child my mum became concerned that I was in the house too much and wasn’t getting enough fresh air. “Go and play outside” she’d tell me. Off I’d go, trot to the end of the path, then pull my book out from up my jumper and settle down to read outside!
2. Pancakes are my favourite food.
3. My dream holiday is to visit the New England area in the USA in autumn. Its my favourite time of year, the colours are just stunning.
4. The first car I owned was a 26 year old Citroen that I named Edith.
5. I possess a rare talent for being so rubbish at cooking I can burn pasta, despite gaining a Distinction in Hotel and Catering Management at college.

Here is the LOVELY layout Pol made for her spotlight!:

HELLO LOVELY by Pol Prince

I used 1canoe2’s Hazelwood collection and as soon as I saw the butterfly paper I knew I wanted to fussy cut it. I love hand sewing on layouts and have become adept at converting cut files to stitching templates on my Silhouette Cameo. I converted this file from the Silhouette Design Store and hand stitched it. The butterflies matched perfectly.

CHERISH by Pol Prince

I wanted to do a page to document my lovely mum, so this page was predominately journaling, which  did using the sketch pen in my Cameo. The pretty delicate florals in the Heidi Swapp September Skies collection perfectly matched my photo and gave the strong yet beautiful impression I wanted to represent my mum.

EYELINER by Pol Prince

I really enjoyed creating this messy, inky background with stamps and stencils. It’s not my usual style but it seemed perfect for this photo of my gorgeous daughter. I’m so jealous of her eyeliner skills!

I created this page not long after Roald Dahl had passed away. His books had such an impact on me as a child that I wanted to somehow commemorate him and this quote from ‘Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory’ which is one of my favourites. It also represents something I’m always telling my daughter – ‘you can be anything you dream you can be’. I made this page with my favourite papers from the Paige Evans Take Me Away collection. I adored the fussy cut flowers and the beautiful colours of the background paper.

I love this huge ombre title and the colour complements the autumn photo sublimely. I take hundreds of colourful tree photos in autumn and this one was one of my favourites. The Robert Frost poem on the layout is one I absolutely love, it gives me goosebumps, and it describes autumn wonderfully. I used the Maggie Holmes Gather collection and some Freckled Fawn leaves.

Hope you are having a wonderful week so far and enjoyed learning more about and seeing Pol’s creations!

Designer Spotlight with Paige Evans: Claudia van Rooijen

Hello and welcome to another Designer Spotlight! Today I am excited to help you get to know Claudia van Rooijen and see her lovely 12×12 layouts!

Name: Claudia van Rooijen
Location: The Netherlands
Instagram: @claudiavanrdesigns
YouTube: ClaudiavanR
Pinterest: @cvrooijen93
Facebook: claudia.vanrooijen.3
Etsy: ClaudiavanRDesigns

Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: Hi! My name is Claudia, I am 23 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I’m an aspiring graphic designer and love scrapping. Besides that I also love being outside or playing games on a rainy day (or any day actually). I got into scrapbooking because of my mom who was a scrapbooker at that time. I just loved all the pretty embellishments and thought it would be a fun way to document memories. That was back in 2005 but I lost interest in it shortly after. It wasn’t until 2013 that I fell in love with it again and have been doing it pretty much daily ever since!

Favorite thing to create: 12×12 layouts! It’s what I started with and what I enjoy most. I enjoy making a card every once in a while too.

What do you love about this hobby? There’s so many things I love about it, I think it’s a lot of fun to create a layout and it helps me relax (I will admit that there are moments of frustration every now and then, but that’s normal right? 😛 ). I love being creative and with scrapbooking you can create whatever you want, there’s no right or wrong. I also love the community behind it, ever since I started my YouTube channel I’ve met so many lovely people. It’s really great to see what everyone else is creating – it’s very inspiring!

5 fun facts:
1. Waterparks are my favorite place in the world – they’re so much fun!
2. I don’t really like shopping – I prefer buying things online.
3. I have never been good at any type of sport.
4. When I was 13 I used to make websites for people.
5. I love singing and actually posted a few videos online in the past.

Here is the lovely layout Claudia made for her spotlight:

LOVE YOU by Claudia van Rooijen

I don’t own a Silhouette but sometimes I try to replicate a similar look on my layouts. For this one I took a leaf ephemera pieces,  selected some patterned papers, and traced and cut it manually. This took me quite awhile but I love the end result. Embellishing is everything to me, I love playing around with the positioning of things until it looks good in my opinion.

HAPPY by Claudia van Rooijen

This is a photo that is very dear to my heart so I wanted to create a very soft and simple layout. I have this one up for display in my room.

SWEET LIFE by Claudia van Rooijen

This is a recent layout where I used this lovely hexagon paper and embellished some of those hexagons for interest. I love doing lots of layering behind my photo so I can tuck little bits and pieces in between.

HAPPY HEART by Claudia van Rooijen

For this one I wanted to use up a lot of branding strips so I used my crafting knife to cut out some hearts in the background and then placed the branding strips underneath.

WINTER SNOW by Claudia van Rooijen

I cut out a lot of stars and put some random letters on some of them to make them look a bit more interesting. I mounted some patterned paper behind the wood veneer letters – I love the texture of wood veneer pieces.

Thank you for stopping by today – I hope you have enjoyed seeing Claudia’s lovely creations and will stop by her blog and YouTube and more to see lots of her beautiful projects!

Designer Spotlight with Paige Evans: Jamie Pate

Jamie Pate is an amazing crafter, scrapbooker, card maker, planner, mini album maker – and MORE(!) and I’m so excited to shine the spotlight on her today!

Name: Jamie Pate
Location: Colorado
Instagram: @jamiepate
YouTube: JamiePate
Pinterest: @jamiepate
Facebook: Jamie Pate Designs

Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: As far back as I can remember I have loved paper and pens and stickers. And since about that time I have had a planner in my hand. Our tribe consists of 5 kids, a husband, and a couple of chickens. We live in Colorado where there is plenty of snow and always a trail to be hiked. There is always a story to be told and I find it’s part of my role as mom and wife to be the curator of those stories. I have had the sheer luck and privilege of being part of several design teams which has only added to my love of all things paper and photo and story telling.

Favorite thing to create: Not sure there is a favorite. The most important ongoing project to me is our family albums. These albums are dearly loved by not only me, but my kids relish the time to just sit and look at the photos again. I had no idea they would be so drawn to the photos+words. Thankful that they are.

What do you love about this hobby? I think this is a very upbeat creative outlet to be a part of. The fact that we can share our layouts and albums with others and they too get so excited about the creative aspect. The people I have met who are lovers of the paper are some of the most creative and insightful people I know. So perhaps its the people I love most about this hobby.

5 fun facts:
1. My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic.
2. I was taking selfies before selfies were cool.
3. I was raised in the Southern California sun and dream about going back.
4. Popcorn is my daily obsession. Stove top popped. With butter.
5. My first car was a huge bright orange Dodge utility truck. Fun times.

Here is the stunning layout Jamie made for her feature:

REVIEW by Jamie Pate

Reviewing the past year has been a big deal to me as I embarked on 2017. This layout highlights everything garnered from my Memory Planner. I wrote down accomplishments and events by each month, then typed them out on this page as a record of my year. I know this is going to be a favorite layout in years to come.

PORCH by Jamie Pate

This PORCH layout is from a few summers back. But it’s a favorite because of it’s simplicity as well as documentation of lazy summer Sunday afternoons on my porch. We work hard in our life, but we also need to relax well and take note of the simple.

One of my approaches to personal growth is using an Intentional Planner. This planner was home to thoughts and quotes I would read during a week. A place to add sketch notes and bullet points and to help keep my mind focused on new material and words I wanted to remember. It becomes a treasured journal when it looks so pretty.

GROW by Jamie Pate

It’s important to me to keep my one little word in focus. Last year my word was GROW. With a nod to the DIY and Home Decor I went to embellishing these Heidi Swapp Marquee Love Letters. My word then was part of my home decor and a daily reminder to the focus of my year.

XOXO CARD by Jamie Pate

Paper crafting has been a part of my life since I was in middle school. But card making really brought it all to life when I was a young mom looking for a creative outlet. This card is one of my favorites. It was fashioned in a non-traditional way as a pocket first. The front was embellished with an envelope and continues to be one of my favorite card sketches.

Thank you for joining me today and getting to know Jamie better! Check out all her amazing creations at her social media sites listed at the top – see you again next week!

Designer Spotlight with Paige Evans: Dedra Long

Welcome to another edition of Designer Spotlight! Today I’m excited to show the amazing planner spreads and layouts made by Dedra Long!

Name: Dedra Long
Location: Arizona
Instagram: @dedralong
Pinterest: @dedralong
Facebook: dedra.long

Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: I’m a mom, wife, daughter and twice over cancer survivor. I started scrapbooking in 1996 after the birth of our first daughter. About a year later I started working a corporate position, everyday life took over and stopped scrapbooking all together. Then in 2001, I was diagnosed with stage III malignant melanoma cancer. Our daughter was five and if something was to happen with me how would she ever know how much I loved her, how I felt about her, advice I might like to tell her someday, etc. So, I started scrapbooking again and haven’t stopped since.

In May of this year I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I have to say in the last 6 to 7 months my relationship with God has taken a deeper connection. I seek Him more and I have started bible journaling in order to grow my relationship with Him even more. I find now, that I seek Him more, more than ever. This requires special attention and planned time that is dedicated just for Him, including prayers for others (including those that I have met or Insta-met in the crafting world.) This is a special hobby where you can meet the most inspiring, caring, supportive people.

In addition to scrapbooking and bible journaling I also LOVE to get creative in my planners. A planner for me is something (or somethings) I would like to focus on. I have one I carry to work, one for personal/family/creative and one I use as a faith planner. Instead of switching out purses or wallets I switch out planners, LOL!

Telling the stories of our family and recording the everyday is something that brings me joy. Our girls will know what bible verses meant to me, what our favorite vacations were and the milestones of their lives. Moments and memories that are irreplaceable.

Favorite thing to create: HHHmmm, that’s a tough one. The favorite thing would be what, at that moment, brought me joy, inspired me or a creative idea I would like to try.

What do you love about this hobby? Recording and documenting the moments of our family, as well as planning out and keeping our family on track.

5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I LOVE the holiday season.
2. I’m a Chevy truck person.
3. Home decorating is another passion of mine.
4. I drink black tea ALL day long.
5. Weather watching fanatic and rain lover (and ironically I live in Arizona).

Here is the exclusive project Dedra made for her feature:

Creating this monthly spread really got me in the spirit of the holiday season. Stamping some festive snowflakes, mistletoe and that cute bear with a scarf!

Here are a few more of Dedra’s favorite projects:

BIBLE ENTRY by Dedra Long

This bible journaling entry is being crazy thankful for Him and all of His blessings! Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Thessalonians 5:16-18 This year has been tough and this is a reminder to myself to always give thanks even when you face unthinkable times, times that are most difficult.

CELEBRATE by Dedra Long

When our oldest daughter left for college out of state and I had to stalk her Facebook and Instagram feeds to save photos in order to keep creating layouts. That first year apart was hard and the journaling in this layout reflects the feelings I had for her at that time.

This was a special anniversary for us. The first time we had been up in a hot air balloon. It was a special weekend that needed a special “pullout” album with journaling. This was such a fun layout to put together.

This was a weekly spread/planner dashboard in my faith panner. One of my favorite dashboards that moves between all of my planners. A constant reminder during my treatments to never give up. Dashboards are a wonderful place to create favorite quotes, motivational inspiration or even photos of family to look at throughout the year.

Thank you so much for joining me today and getting to know Dedra! Be sure to follow along on her sites to learn more about her and see her beautiful creations!

Designer Spotlight with Paige Evans: Eva Pizarro

I have been a fan of Eva Pizarro’s work for a long time – her use of patterned paper and color resonates with my soul!

Name: Eva Pizarro
Location: Santiago, Chile
Instagram: @evapizarrov
Pinterest: @evapizarrov
Facebook: evapizarrodesigns

Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: Hello everyone! I am Eva Pizarro, I’m 35 years old and live in Santiago, Chile with my husband Marco and my son Lorenzo. I started scrapbooking in 2007 while I was living in Italy and since then I haven’t stopped! I love to be able to create something beautiful and creative everyday!

Favorite thing to create: I love to create mini albums and 12 x 12″ layouts. Now that my son is a toddler he enjoys flipping through mini books and when he points at pictures and calls “Mom and Dad” my heart melts!

What do you love about this hobby? I love playing with colors and paper and having some “me” time during the day. I also love to keep my family memories and leave a part of myself in my projects’ journaling. Often my projects tell how I feel, my fears, and joys, and I love that my future generations are going to be able to get to know me better reading our history.

5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I am an engineer and before scrapbooking I never considered myself an artistic person.
2. I love to cook, especially bake, and have every possible machine and gadget available.
3. I love TV shows, since my son was born I mostly watch TV series because I am too tired for a 2 hour movie.
4. I would love to be able to do mixed media but I am TERRIBLE at it! I guess that is not my thing!
5. I LOVE chocolate and I need to eat a little piece of dark chocolate everyday!

Feast your eyes upon this stunning layout Eva made for her spotlight:

I love to include stitching and string art in my layouts and this project blends these two techniques. I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe and backed it with different patterned papers from the Fancy Free collection. I also made holes on my cut design and stitched it with different colors. I think the combination between a straight and dashed line add lots of interest to my circle.

Remember I told you I can’t use mixed media techniques? Well, I tried some simple watercolor techniques on this layout and I think the result is great! I used some printable canvas to add some texture to my title. This layout inspires me to keep trying to master different techniques and never give up!

2014 by Eva Pizarro

I love this layout because of the story behind the photo: during 2012 and 2013 I lost three little girls in advanced pregnancies. In 2014 and after six months of being bedridden, I finally had the blessing to become a mother. I never wanted to take pictures of my belly (this is the only one I have) so I really wanted to use it in a layout that highlighted my feelings. I typed my journaling in a shape and used it as my title to make it the central part of my page.

THE BEST DAY by Eva Pizarro

I love the look of hand cut letters and decided to use the Alphabet Punch Boards by We R Memory Keepers to create a BIG title. I wanted my letters to be fun and colorful so I covered them with tiny strips of paper.

YOU COMPLETE ME by Eva Pizarro

For this layout I also used tiny strips of paper – I think it is the best way to use scraps of paper and you can create very interesting backgrounds with them. Because the background was already very busy I just added my picture and a few die cut and embellishments close to my photo.

Be sure to subscribe to all of Eva’s sites to stay up to date with all of her amazing projects!
