Gift Bags

Happy Saturday my friends, and thank you for joining me today!  I want to share some fun projects created by fabulous designers, and of course a yummy dessert for your summer gatherings!  I hope you can take some time to sit back and enjoy the inspiration.  Enjoy!

Pocket Pages By Amy Little

It has been awhile since I shared pocket page ideas.  This past week I went on a fabulous vacation with my family.  I decided I was not going to put these memories in an envelope and hope to scrapbook them one day. The next day I printed some photos (well, a lot of photos) and decided to make a Pocket Page album.  This was so much fun and got me excited to share some ideas with you today!  Whether you are going on a dream vacation or exploring where you live, be sure to take lots of photos to document your adventures!

Pocket Pages

Today I want to share three of my favorite items for creating my pocket pages.  My first one is Pocket Life Cards.  These contain cards like “Places” and “Today” and can help focus your vacation journaling.  Second would be cut apart pages. These are great for your pocket layouts.  You can fussy cut and layer so many different pieces to create a one-of-a kind masterpiece!  Third, wood veneers or chipboard pieces.  What a great and fun way to add some layering, dimension, and personality to your layout.  Take time to record your feelings and thoughts about your photos in that moment so you will always cherish that special time.  Let me take you over to BoBunny where Amy has created this adorable pocket page.  She will give you some tips in creating this page, along with a list of all the supplies you will need to get started.  Thank you, Amy for your fabulous inspiration!

Shaker Over A Colored Image By Nina-Marie Trapani

The sizzling hot shaker trend shows no signs of cooling down anytime soon.  That is good news for me because I love this fun technique.  Today I want to share a new shaker card inspiration.  Yes, let’s add a colored image underneath the fun sequins!  I always look for some unique and different ways to create shaker cards.

Shaker Over A Colored Image

There is nothing better than receiving a handmade card in the mail!  The cards that leave a lasting memory in my mind are always interactive in some way.  This is truly one of those cards that will forever be cherished.  I highly recommend stopping by the Simon Says Stamp blog where you can see some step-by-step instructions by Nina-Marie on how to create this beautiful card.  You will learn so many new techniques for watercoloring along with adding some magical effects to the card using clear sequins.  This is one technique you don’t want to miss out on!  Have fun creating!

Gift Bags By Riikka Kovasin

These sweet bags are not only adorable but can be used for multiple purposes; they are perfect for Thank You, Get Well, Happy Birthday, Just Because, or just about any occasion you need it for. Basic brown bags can make the prettiest bags for gift giving.  How fun to personalize each one, and then adding a tag is such a bonus!

Gift Bags

These stamps offer fun and unique designs that will be a great addition to any occasion for your bags or paper project.  Don’t hesitate to start playing with these fun stamps and see what great designs you can come up with!  Riikki used the Prima Cling Mounted Stamp Doll with Ruffle Dress to create her bag.  I hope you have been inspired to start your own adorable gift bags!

Chocolate Cheesecake Dessert By Tonia Larson

Chocolate cheesecake is one of the ultimate desserts.  With so many recipes, you will find that this one is just right for you!  When the occasion calls for an extra-special dessert, this creamy, rich, chocolaty cheesecake is the one you will want to serve!

Chocolate Cheesecake Dessert

This four-layer chocolate cheesecake dessert is the ultimate way to serve chocolate.  It is also way easier than it looks. Click here for a full video on how to make this scrumptious dessert.  Your family and friends will love this one!

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope this gives you some inspiration and great ideas for a fun summer crafting day!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I will see you back here at Weekly Scrapper next Saturday.

Thinking Of You

Saturdays-with-LeAnn

Welcome back, my crafty friends, I have some really great projects to share with you today.  You will be inspired to scrapbook, create beautiful cards, tackle a denim journal, and whip up something yummy in your kitchen for a wonderful treat!  Take a moment and sit back, relax and get motivated!

By The Sea By Alicia Barry

I am delighted to share this beautiful layout created by Alicia Barry, one of the fabulous designers for Heartfelt Creations. What first drew me to this stunning layout was how well the color scheme complements the fun photo.

By The Sea

This layout has a combination of fussy cutting and handmade flowers.  Fussy cutting some flowers will add a great accent to your handmade flowers. This is a beautiful example of perfect balance when designing a layout.  It is so important to scrapbook the special moments that we share with those close to us.  Remember that the secret to a lovely layout is to just dive in and have fun creating!  Click here and I will take you for the instructions and supplies to create your own layout.

Just Keep Swimming By Judy Rozema

Shaker cards are all the rage right now in the world of card making. They have that extra element that is sure to delight the recipient, whatever the age.  Children love them for the novelty and adults will cherish them forever!

Just Keep Swimming

I love shaker cards! I was happy that Judy Rozema shared this adorable shaker card; what a fun summer creation. If you are anything like me, you have oodles of sequins and beads in your crafting supplies, and this is such a fabulous way of using some of them.  There is so much to love about shaker cards since they are filled with sparkle and class. So with that said, grab your sequins and beads and let’s get shakin’!

Lovely Friend By Wanda Guess

You can create a very elegant look by using grey and black and adding a small amount of color to your card.  Use a water brush to move the color around on your paper to achieve the look you desire.

Lovely Friend

With the same design, you can create another version using bright colors and a different sentiment while you still have your supplies out!  You will be surprised how different the two cards will look just by changing the colors.

Thinking Of You

Wanda Guess created these beautiful designs by stamping and heat embossing the main image.  She used Kuretake Clean Color Brush Makers to achieve her color.  Wanda added some ink splatters and clear gems to complete the card.  Don’t you just love it when cards come together so quickly?  Be sure to stop by A Blog Called Wanda anytime you crave some serious inspiration. In the meantime, push yourself to try something new! 🙂

Denim Sea Journal By Anna Dabrowska

This denim mixed media journal will look beautiful sitting on your end table, or on an easel to add a touch of décor to your home.  Take it a step further and make it into a beautiful photo album. Jeans are often a real favorite to each of us.  What a surprise when you take your old, torn up jeans and turn them into something this beautiful!

Denim Sea Journal

Denim can be a really great base for mixed media.  Create your own base, or you can also purchase a Prima Denim Art Journal.  This is a great way to practice some techniques and play with mixed media mediums.  Just follow your inspiration!  Click here and I will take you over to a video that gives some guidelines on how to create your own beautiful denim journal.

Lemon Curd By Stacy Bryce

Lemon curd is a thick, soft, and velvety cream that has a wonderfully tart, yet still sweet, citrus flavor.  Seeing a jar of lovely yellow lemon curd in the refrigerator will brighten up anyone’s day! Serve this over shortbread, or try this tangy spread instead of jam for toast, English muffins, scones, or muffins.  This also makes a great filling for cakes, pies, and tartlets, too.

Lemon Curd

Lots of zest and juice gives the curd that delicious lemon flavor. Get the recipe from Wicked Good Kitchen, where Stacy will give you all the ingredients you’ll need to get started.

Enjoy your weekend, and remember to take some time for yourself to enjoy your summer!  Thank you for visiting our Weekly Scrapper today.  I hope you have been inspired with some new ideas. See you next Saturday!

Thinking Of You

Saturdays-with-LeAnnWelcome back, my friends.  What better way to round out the work week than with five amazing projects from four wonderful designers?  I hope I can WOW you today with these wonderful projects and a yummy dessert!  So kick off your shoes, relax, and let’s get started!

Young Wild & Free By Cathy Cafun

You are probably familiar with the term “fussy cutting.”  It is something we see quite often in layouts.  Our motifs lend themselves to be hand-cut, layered, and put on display.  What a fabulous way of using some of your beautiful papers.  It adds dimension and gives your layout a clean, refreshing look.

Young Wild & Free

Cathy has some step-by-step and easy to follow instructions prepared to help you create your fun beach layout.  I highly recommend you stop by her blog “Cathy Can’t Help Herself” for a visit; you will love all of her fun tips and techniques.  This is one that you will certainly will want to make to put your fun beach photos on. Thank you for sharing your beautiful layout, Cathy.

Thinking Of You By Yoonsun Hur

With shaker cards being so popular, I wanted to share this adorable card designed by Yoonsun Hur.   Yoonsun used the Die-namics Wonky Stitched Rectangle Stax die from My Favorite Things that really simplifies the process of creating a perfect shaker card.

Thinking Of You

Along with the fun dies, Yoonsun used a fun flower stamp to create this beautiful and colorful design.  For the beautiful sequins to fill up your shaker card, you’ll find them at My Favorite Things. The fabulous combination of beads, sequins, and confetti all coordinate perfectly to create this beautiful card.  I really hope you have a great time creating your own fun shaker card!

Venetian Summer By Heather Telford

I instantly fell in love with this beautiful card.  It is so classy and I love the pop of red.  Heather created those shadows and highlights so perfectly with water coloring.  Heather inked her stamp Venetian Summer in London Fog, but avoided the hat so she could ink it in red.  She then added some shading to the building and the woman by picking up ink with a small watercolor brush. What a masterpiece Heather has created!

Venetian Summer

Her beautiful card encouraged me to develop some new skills and be less intimidated to try new things.  My motto is “Creativity involves in breaking out of your traditional style. Never hesitate to try something new.”  I would like to say a big “Thank You” to Heather for her fabulous inspiration and allowing us to share her beautiful creation.  Do yourself a big favor and stop by her blog Bits and Pieces where you will enjoy some creative therapy with Heather.  You will be filled with so much inspiration and be very happy you took the time to visit.

Fancy Box By Beatriz Jennings

I love having cards on hand.  When an occasion comes up, I am prepared and don’t have to stress about making one quickly!  I found this adorable Fancy Box created by Beatriz Jennings and immediately knew that I had to make one.  What a perfect way to store all of my hand-crafted cards!  This adorable box turned out to be the perfect place for my cards, and I had a blast creating one of my own.  Thank you, Beatriz, for sharing your fun Fancy Box.

Fancy Box

Now lets take it one step farther and create a birthday card using up some of the scraps that were used for the Fancy Box.  Grab some of your fun embellishments to finish adding some dimension to your card.

Birthday Card

Now that you have fallen in love with both the box and the card, let me take you on over to Beatriz’s blog Iralamija where you will find the supplies that she used, along with instructions to begin creating your own box and card. Have fun creating!

Mason Jar Lid Mini Cheesecake By Linda Braden

I have such a great love of Mason jars; I have used them in so many different ways in my crafting.  Today I want to take it one step farther than only using the jar – we are going to use the Mason jar lid to create mini cheesecakes! Yes, you read that right, Mason jar lids!  Who would have ever thought that a lid would be so useful?  They are like mini springform pans.  What a fun treat to make with your family.  Always creating memories, right?

Mason Jar Lids Mini Cheesecake

Welcome back to another wonderful Saturday here on our Weekly Scrapper blog!  I have some very fun treasures to share with you today.  I hope that they will inspire you to jump out of your comfort zone and create something uniquely you!

Cottage Rose Mini Album By Alicia McNamara

Who says you have to put photos only into layouts?  Mini albums are a fabulous way of using your precious photos. They are not only fun to create, but are also a perfect gift, and bring a smile to anyone’s face by sharing memories that have so much love and meaning.  Mini albums are not only a perfect gift but they also don’t take much time to create.  What enjoyment for both you and the one receiving the album!

Cottage Rose Mini Album

After discovering this gorgeous mini album on the blog Time To Create, I knew I just had to share it.  I highly recommend stopping by for a visit; you will be so inspired by Alicia McNamara, plus you will see all of the pages of her mini album. You can never create too many mini albums! 🙂

Pineapple Play By Julie Ebersole

Would you like to learn a new technique?  Today you are sure to be so inspired by Julie Ebersole and her fabulous watercoloring technique.  You will love the color combinations that Julie uses. Pop on over to her blog Paper Trufflez to see more of her fun creations.

Pineapple Play

Julie shows how easy these cards are to make using the die from Hero Arts Paper Layering Pineapple.  Julie’s step-by-step tutorial makes creating this card very fun; click here to follow along. Go ahead and give this a try; you will really enjoy creating this project!

Blessed To Call You Friend By Amy Kolling

Nothing says spring better then a bouquet of flowers!  This adorable card will certainly brighten anyone’s day.  Here is another fun card to try, so break out your stamps and dies!

Blessings To Call You Friend

To get a very crisp black image, use Versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp your wildflowers, clear embossing powder, and then heat set.  Embossing is a great way to watercolor as the embossing keeps your ink inside the lines.  Amy used vellum for her background along with the die-cut Leafy Vine Cutting Plate with thick vellum.  The vellum gives the card an opaque look.  When added to a light grey note-card, it looks like faux embossing.  For more inspiration from Amy, come with me over to her blog Stamp-N-Paradise.

Rosette Mirror By Christy James

Do you have an old mirror hanging around that you just don’t want to part with?  Today I am going to share a way of turning that old mirror into something different and charming.

Rosette Mirror

First of all, adding some dimension really gives the mirror a pop, and the appealing rosettes finish off the mirror in an attractive way.  Giving the mirror a new paint job and adding a few rosettes gives this a sweet, new look.  It isn’t expensive to create and the rosettes are so fun to make.  Click here for a full tutorial on making your rosettes, and then be sure to visit Confessions of a Serial Do-It-Yourselfer for more makeovers for your home.

Peanut Marshmallow Bars By Maryanne

These peanut marshmallow bars are made up of everything you would want in a treat – sweet, salty, crunchy, and very satisfying!  The best part is they are very easy to make and go a long way.

Peanut Marshmallow Bars

This is one of those fun summer treats you can take on picnics, family get-togethers, baseball games, etc. It is a great make-ahead dessert.  Once completed, it also holds up really well for a few days.  You will have no problem finishing this fabulous treat. Click here and I will take you over to The Little Epicurean where you will get your yummy recipe.  Enjoy! 🙂

Thank you for sharing a bit of your Saturday with me.  Hope you have been inspired today to try something new.  I am looking forward to seeing you back soon.  Have a great weekend!

This sweet card is one that you can change the sentiment to “thinking of you,” “have a great day,” etc.  Can you just imagine the warm feeling that will come over the person who receives this one in the mail?

Together Family created by Minna Paajanen

This gorgeous design was created by the very talented lady Minna Paajanen. I just love the gorgeous Pion Papers made in Sweden. They are so unique and are of a timeless design with a romantic and vintage feel.

Together Family

Minna used the beautiful blue-toned papers and tags from the “My Beloved Son” collection. Using three-dimensional floral embellishments really pops out her photo. This is definitely one of those simply elegant layouts. Click here and I will take you over to Pion Designs. You will find fabulous projects and have a chance to discover their gorgeous paper lines.  You’re sure to be inspired to start creating your next beautiful project.

Thanks created by Donna Mikasa

You don’t have to be a professional painter to create watercolor masterpieces! I have recently taken the plunge to using water with my markers and I love how it can make coloring so much fun, while being such a breeze. Don’t be afraid to pull out your distress markers and distress inks, and if you have watercolor pencils they are wonderful, too.

Thanks

This embossed imaged was colored by Donna Mikasa. She used some distress markers and water for her coloring. The sentiment was a die cut from gold foil cardstock and attached to a vellum band. Adding a few gold sequins finished off the card nicely. If you prefer some shine to your card, just add a Wink Of Stella pen. Now for your challenge; if you haven’t already been watercoloring, take the plunge and dive in! You will be amazed at your own talent with watercoloring.

Friends created by Debbie Olsen

Wouldn’t it be fun to go to your mailbox and receive a handmade treasure from a dear friend? Everyone loves a beautiful handmade card. They are so much fun to make and such a joy to receive.

Life Is Beautiful

Can you believe that this card was created with a stamp?  Such a wonderful and different way of using your stamps to create a water-color image!  You don’t have to be an impressionist painter to create a water-color masterpiece. I would like to say thank you to Sanketi for allowing us to share this beautiful card. Her handling of water colors is absolutely amazing! Be sure to see more of her water coloring images on her blog The Storyteller. You are sure to be amazed and inspired!

195

To begin creating, choose a stamp which has ample of areas to color.

196

Stamp the image and sketch the scene around it very lightly with a pencil. Sanketi almost always uses water-based inks. Using the water-based inks will achieve a softer outline and will blend into the rest of the scene.

197

Now the fun begins….color! Remember that with watercolor, your highlights are the white of the paper. Save them if you need them. You can go around them or use masking fluid to protect the whites.

199

Dampen the sky area with a wet brush and drop in the blue and blend while wet to avoid hard edges. Watercolor dries lighter.

1100

Add the dark colors and look for visual balance. You want your eyes to go directly to the focal point of your card. It helps to keep the edges a shade darker than the center; this prevents the eye from jumping all over the painting. What a beautiful card you can create and have so much fun in doing so.

Creativity involves in breaking out of your traditional style.  Take a look at your project in a different way, and never hesitate to try something new.
