Sundays With Lorraine

Hello, my crafty friends, and welcome back to Stamp & Scrapbook Expo’s blog. I’m happy to see that you have found some “me” time to enjoy a little creative therapy.

Be Fearless by Becky Williams

Have you ever created a layout with no photos? I must admit that I have not, but I’ve now been inspired to do so after seeing Becky’s page. I love it! There are lots of special memories that we have but don’t always have photos to go with them.  Way to go, Becky, for sharing this creative layout. I love that the story is handwritten; that’s an element that many of us tend to struggle with. I know it is a lot easier to print out your journaling and I often hear scrapbookers say “I don’t like my handwriting.” But I do recommend sprinkling some handwritten journalling throughout your scrapbooks – it’s part of who you are.

I have to share a little story. I recently found a poem that my grandfather used to read to me often when I was growing up. The poem was handwritten by him and he has been gone for over 25 years.  It was a real fuzzy moment when I saw his handwriting again; I could hear him reciting the poem like it was yesterday. I think I know the theme of my next scrapbook page and it’s going to include a handmade pocket with Pop Pop’s letter along with those special memories in my handwriting. I hope you, too, have been inspired by Becky’s layout.  Click here and I will take you over for a visit to the Noel Mignon.com blog so you can see how easily this page comes together.

Warm Winter Wishes by Heather Hoffman

This sweet card is sure to warm the heart of someone special on a cold winters day; it’s like receiving a hug in the mail. I love the beautiful wintery color combination and that skiing bear is adorable. The stamp is from Winnie Walter Design. The Winter Wishes with Evelin T Designs set is huge, it comes with thirty-one (31) photopolymer clear stamps. They can be used for Christmas but can also carry you through the winter.

I hope you’ve been inspired to break out your Distress Oxides and create one of your famous handmade cards. Click here and I will join you on a visit to the Winnie & Walter blog so you can follow along as Heather shares step-by-step instructions.

Window Shadow Box by Christy

Who doesn’t love a good trash-to-treasure story? It truly makes my heart sing when I spot that ugly duckling at the thrift store and the lightbulb goes off. Many crafters have the gift for seeing the future of what could be beyond the original not-so-attractive surface. It drives my husband crazy when I drag another antique window or beat up old ladder into the house, but in my defense, what kind of crafter would I be if I walked away from those hidden treasures? This recycled window is a perfect example; this is definitely on my creative bucket list.

Tell me this adorable Shabby Chic Shadow Box (say that three times, LOL) wouldn’t look adorable in your craft room, or any room for that matter.  Click here and I will be happy to take you over to spend some quality time on the “Confessions Of A Serial DIYer” blog. Christy is amazing and a real inspiration to her fellow DIYers.

Teriyaki Shrimp Broccoli Stir Fry

Richa had me at shrimp and broccoli; those are two things that I always have on hand. (The shrimp might be frozen but that’s a quick fix.)  I am happy to report that with a little help from Richa you, too, can have this tasty dish on the table in about half an hour.

We can’t all be culinary masters, so kudos to Richa and her amazing food blog My Food Story for showing us how it’s done. A healthy and tasty dinner in under an hour truly makes me smile. That means we can go back to our happy place (the craft room) and create something beautiful. Bon appetit, my friends!

Thanks for sharing part of your Sunday with me. Have a wonderful week and I’ll see you soon.

Hugs to all!

That card is beautiful! It definitely makes me want to get some of those oxide inks. Currently I only have a couple of the regular distress inks (college doesn’t let a crafty person afford much unfortunately), but I’ve definitely been inspired. ? Thank you so much for sharing and wow does that food look amazing!!

    Great projects.
Love the skiing bear. It’s cold here so he’d fit
right in. I belong in the group who doesn’t
like their handwriting. Often I can’t read
what I’ve wrote – terrible thing to admit.
    thanks for sharing

So many great things to check out today.
The photo-less scrapbook page is one of my more difficult challenges to try but I have done it and when it is completed it is something that I feel is more personal than pages with a photo. It takes more time and thought to make sure the story is told without the photos to support it or tell it. I love her story about her grandfather’s poetry.
The polar bear card is so cute and the background is awesome! What a great technique. I think I am going to have to start buying some distress oxide inks. Who needs groceries anyway?
The shadowbox is perfect for displaying sweet photos. The embellishments Christy has added allow the photos to be shown off to their best. And that’s what its all about isn’t it.
The stir fry supper looks so yummy. If I hadn’t already had my supper I might have been giving that a try. Delicious looking.
Thanks for sharing and inspiring my weekend. Cheers! 🙂

Enamored of the shadow box. They are my favorite kind of crafting and this one is stunning. I like the idea of a photoless layout-going to give it a try.
