Crazy Shoebox Crew/Shoebox 1K is a group of crafters based out of Morris, IL. Their mission is to “Unite hearts to craft hope for kids! The Crazy Shoebox Crew works with manufacturers, businesses, community groups, churches and individuals to pack at least 1000 shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child each year.
Operation Christmas Child sends gift filled shoeboxes to kids in need all over the world along with the good news of God’s love and the hope that come from knowing someone cares for you. Shoebox gifts are filled with; soap and washcloth, toothbrush, comb, school supplies, small toys, a beanbag animal, clothing, and more. To accomplish this goal, “The Crew” hosts craft days, teaches “shoebox crafts” to local community groups, holds fundraisers and supply drives throughout the year.
All of their efforts come together the first Saturday of November at a giant “shoebox packing party” where last year (2017) over 200 members of the community joined forces to pack 3135 shoebox gifts that were sent to children in Togo (Africa)
All money raised at the Scrapbook Expo helps purchase items to put into shoeboxes and contribute towards shipping expenses for the boxes.
