We have many positions available for you to help at the Scrapbook EXPO. Our shifts vary from 2 – 5 hours in length. Positions will be available on the day that pre-registration opens for each show. Volunteers must be 18 years or older.
What will I be doing if I volunteer at the Scrapbook EXPO?
When registering online you will have the option to help in a classroom or help our staff with show related items.
If I choose to be volunteer in a workshop how will I know what class it is for?
When registering online you will be given a variety of times to choose from. The times are in accordance to our workshop schedule/grid. Each position will start a half hour before and a half hour after the workshop begins. More than likely you will be working in the same classroom for two – three different workshops. When you arrive at the EXPO you will need to check in at the registration counter and we will assign you a classroom in which you will be working.
Is the Workshop Volunteer positions the same as the Teacher Pet program?
Kind of. In the past guests could sign up to be a Teacher’s Pet in a specific workshop. Upon completion of that class, the guest would often receive the class kit along with learning how the projects were done. Starting for 2013 we have revamped this program and guests can register as a workshop volunteer (not class specific). Upon checking in with our registration counter guests will be assigned a specific room to work in assisting the teacher with their needs. More than likely you will be working any where from one – three workshops. You will no longer receive the workshop kit as we will be compensating you for your time. Please be sure to check out at the registration counter upon completion of your shift.
If I choose to volunteer as a Scrapbook EXPO helper what will I be doing?
We have a variety of positions available which include: Express Will Call, Door Guard, Lobby Attendant, Door Prize, Crop Check In and Tool Station. Each position will be assigned when you check in at the registration counter. Remember, every position is extremely important to how our show runs.
Upon the start and completion of my shift where do I go?
All volunteers will need to check in and out with our registration counter.
Will I be compensated for my time?
Absolutely! We appreciate all our helpers as this is an important feature to make our shows successful. When you complete your shift we will reimburse you the $10 registration fee for holding the position (the $2.00 processing fee is non refundable). You will also be compensated $10 for every hour worked, receive a free admission to the show room floor as well as your “I Helped” button.
If I volunteer do I get free admission?
Absolutely! Upon completion of your shift we will compensate you for your time and also give you one Free Admission good for any day or any show:)
Volunteering sounds exciting! Can I work multiple shifts?
Yes! But please remember that you will probably be on your feet a lot, so wear comfortable shoes and bring a sweater or jacket as the temperature may vary. Be advised that you may be required to lift items ranging from 10 – 40lbs or standing for long periods of time. If you are working multiple shifts please plan accordingly and do not overlap your shifts. It is advised to allow a half hour or hour in-between shifts, but this is entirely up to you:) Also, we suggest packing a snack and a beverage as we do not schedule breaks.
If I volunteer will I have a break?
Unfortunately, we do not schedule breaks. However, if you need to use the restroom please let one of our staff members know. Also, we do suggest packing a small snack and or beverage if you are working multiple shifts.
