Happy Friday, everyone! This week I had the pleasure of creating with Graphic 45’s Rare Oddities collection. I am not trying to rush summer away, but this collection makes me want to start decorating for Halloween right now!
The Graphic 45 papers are super fun to work with. Their collections are full of beautiful patterns as well as images. I LOVE paisleys and the Rare Oddities patterned papers are full of them. WooHoo!
I decided that I wanted to created a project that would highlight the collection. I chose to create a double tri-fold shutter card. For this card, I created two tri-fold shutter cards and folded them in reverse to each other so that I could attach them in the center. If you are not familiar with tri-fold shutter cards, there are lots of templates available to get you started. Here is a view from above once I had scored, cut, and folded the cards.
I am not going to be sending this ‘card’ to someone, so instead of using the standard 5 1/2 inch height, I created it at 6 inches. The full length when not folded is 24 inches.
You can see that this style of card gives you plenty of space for adding papers and embellishments. I used one of the 4 x 6″ cards to join the two tri-fold cards together.
When folded up, this card could be tossed in the mail and sent to a friend. You would likely have to create your own custom envelope or choose a slightly larger one than you would usually use for a standard card.

I also took advantage of the Ephemera cards in this collection to create a quick card. I love it when you can grab a card and frame it with additional patterned paper and cardstock to create a quick and easy, yet still beautiful, card.
Wow! I sure had a lot of fun creating this project to share with you. If you have not tried creating a tri-fold shutter card before, I hope you will step outside your comfort zone and try one.

I used G45 papers for the first time in a class I took at Scrapbook Expo, Chantilly in June. Until then, I was unaware of the brand. I really love all the gorgeous details in the paper – they work together to give you a real “feel” for an era.

This is my kind of card. I make singles all the time for every occasion. Just did a Thank you, a recent wedding and numerous birthday but they were all singles. I am thrilled to learn how to do a double and will definitely take this into consideration as sometimes there is more you want to put on a card but are limited because of space so this would just do the trick. THanks for sharing. Can’t wait for the next Scrapbook Expo in Orlando in March 2016. Had a ball this past year. Worked at 4 different classes and really enjoyed helping.

G45… That is some extraordinary paper! WOW so many ideas are running through my head. I love how the card was done too. I haven’t tried that type yet, because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to decorate it properly. However, seeing how wonderful this card looks, I’m pretty confident I could do something just as lovely. Trying to get my 12 year old daughter into crafting a bit more. G45 is my favorite brand of paper for cards, scrapping and altered art projects! I do want to try the technique in this blog and especially with Rare Oddities! Halloween has been my favorite holiday (besides Christmas) since the 5th grade when my mom made me a witches outfit with newspaper and crepe paper…hmm…maybe that’s where my love of all things paper started. What amazes me most about this project is that it is both scary and beautiful at the same time. This Graphic 45 paper creates a “creepy chic” along with a kind of magical Vintage look. The colors vibrate and draw the viewer to investigate!

I ran thru pics then read each listing under pics- i had a great idea for the 4th pic-(card flattened) before i knew it was a shutter style card. I just thought it was another idea listed. This would make a great 12×12 layout if you follow the basic layout structure and it would give you massive real estate for scrapbooking. This is a super wonderfully spooky collection. I would love to be the winner and let the collection rattle some bones in my dark space I call a brain as i am in funk finishing my “girls week- vacation 2015” right now. Sometimes you just need to shift gears and move onto an new project with a fresh view. Just in time for Fall and Halloween :)-Thank you

I love these papers! I have been collecting and crafting “potion bottles” for a Halloween mantel display for the last couple of years and I am totally addicted. I love this Graphic 45 Halloween card. Wow. Thanks for sharing. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love Graphic 45. I recently made a cookie sheet magnetic board that I created with the Graphic 45 By The Sea Collection. The paper works so great together that anyone can create simple or extremely awesome cards or whatever with it. I would be forever grateful to win anything from Graphic 45’s collection.

What a clever use of the tri-fold card!! This could be adapted to any type of card. I especially like your use of the G45 Halloween collection…I love the colors. I can see making many of these cards in the future…I have “just a little” G45 paper I need to use…lol!!!

I absolutely love Halloween and would love to make this for my sister-in-law who is even more of a Halloween freak than I am. I could easily see this staying on one of our shelves year round.
