This project was created using Little Yellow Bicycle’s (LYB) ‘Poppy’ collection and Faber-Castell (F-C) Aquarelle pencils. I would like to send out a big to thank you to Melinda for allowing us to share today’s fun inspiration piece. Be sure to stop by The Scrap Farm you’ll be happy that you did. It’s always a good day when you get to break out your Faber-Castell stash.
Melinda used a LYB canvas covered chipboard album which was the ideal medium for the gorgeous Faber Castell Gelatos.
She started out by adding some texture paste to the canvas cover by using a chevron template and then coloring over the whole area with the gelatos. Melinda dipped a wide brush into water and set about spreading the gelato color across the canvas to create an ombre effect radiating from the center outward. She also colored the LYB canvas butterfly using the Aquarelle watercolor pencils from F-C and again blending the colors using a wet brush. Don’t you just love the bright fun colors.
I absolutely love how Melinda journaled a separate page for each of her children. What a fuzzy. How priceless this mini album is going to be in years to come. This is truly what scrapbooking is all about, capturing life’s everyday moments.
Melinda printed her journaling onto vellum so she wouldn’t loose the gorgeous patterns of the paper underneath. It creates a softer feel too!
