Picture Frame Tray

I discovered this elegant and very useful tray on the Lemon Tree Creations blog. I’d like to send out a big thank you to Patrice for  allowing us to share her beautiful project.

Picture Frame Tray

I am a big fan of the trash to treasure concept. I love transforming disregarded items into beautiful & useful treasures. Patrice started out with this old beat up frame.

Old Frame

Start out by painting the frame the color that best fits  with your decor, choose some matching fabric, and 2 handles or draw pulls.

Next attach the handles with some shallow screws. You might want to paint the screws so they don’t show as much.

For the picture insert, Patrice  batted and covered the original cardboard backing with a cute black gingham fabric (using a hot glue gun). This gave the insert a raised cozy look. I like the texture the batting provided.

She then put the insert in place, attaching with hot glue to make it more sturdy. There were already metal tabs to hold it in, so the hot glue was just extra security.

Patrice  mounted the glass on top of the frame for a couple of reasons. First, it protected the batted fabric without smashing it. Second, it made the tray a lot sturdier. She mounted the glass with a dot of hot glue in each corner.

So find yourself an old beat up picture frame and have fun with it. Before you know it, you will have a beautiful tray to enjoy for years to come. The holidays are sneaking up on us. Wouldn’t this make a great Christmas gift? Just thinking out loud :).

Thanks for visiting and have  very creative day.
