Do you share my love of vintage photo frames? There is something about the ornate designs that always draw me in. The best part of this project is that they’re not only beautiful but also very functional. We all live very busy lifes so its nice to use them as a note/reminder board, or a chore chart for the kids, add favorite photos that make you smile, the possibilities are endless.
- Start out with a picture frame, it could be any size or shape. just remember that you will be replacing the back of the frame with a thin sheet of metal & you want the metal to be in 1 piece.
- Paint or stain the frame a color that best goes with your decor. You can stop there or if you like the shabby chic look have some fun & give the frame a good distressing.
- Take a trip into your scrapbook room & pick out some of your favorite patterned papers for the background.
- Using a strong tape runner adhere your paper to the precut metal. Pop it in the frame like you would a picture. It’s as easy as that.
A little tip I’d like to share, if you are lucky enough to have a true vintage frame but it doesn’t have the part to hold the picture in, when your purchasing the metal for the back of your board, stop by the framing section they usually sell them. There very easy to install with a small hammer.
Supplies needed:
Vintage frame of your choice
Paint or stain
Paint brush
Thin metal pre-cut to the size of your frame (I go to a hardware store like Home Depot or Lowes) they’ll cut it for you
Strong adhesive/tape runner
Patterned paper
Distress ink (optional)
If you love the look of these magnetic boards but are thinking there is no way I have the time or desire to make one myself you can purchase some really beautiful pre-made Chalkboards, Magnetic Boards, cork boards & more by visiting The Shugabee Lane Store.
Thanks for visiting, I hope today’s post has inspired you to break out your old frames and give them a new life. ;-).
