Who says the advent calendar is just for Christmas? In my house, back-to-school time comes around way too quickly, and we don’t want to waste a minute of summer! Several years ago we came up with the idea to create an advent calendar to countdown the last days of summer, and we enjoyed it so much that we made it an annual event.
This year we created the calendar using family photos, cute sayings, and PLUS products. PLUS TG-610BC permanent glue tape was used to put together all of the pockets, and the Decoration Rollers were a quick and easy way to add some flair. We simply rolled on the polka dots, hearts, flowers and cameras…and wa la! The PLUS Caution Tape, combined with the word “school”, was a natural fit that we couldn’t resist!
The tags contain one fun activity to do each day. The trick to this portion of the project is to suggest realistic activities. Flying to Paris one day would be an awesome end to summer, but it is probably not feasible. Some activity suggestions are :
1. Invent a new type of pizza.
2. Have scavenger hunt.
3. Make a card for a friend.
4. Play with water ballons.
5. Bake something yummy.
6. Create your own game.
7. Host a themed dinner.
8. Tie die your sheets.
9. Create a sidewalk mural with chalk.
10. Have a watermelon seed spitting contest.
Of course after, having all of this fun, the final step to this project would be to scrapbook, scrapbook, scrapbook! Have fun with it and enjoy the lazy, hazy days of summer!
