I know some parts of the United States are having a nice warm winter while others are freezing with a very cold winter. So for those of you who love snow or those of you who are right in the midst of snow, here is a great project for you. Let’s pull out our supplies and get started. This darling project was created by Hilary Kanwischer. Be sure to visit her blog Hilary Scraps for more of her fun projects.
Make the frame with heavy chipboard. Die cut out two pieces using chipboard and one piece using pattern paper from the Cameo frame die. Use a spray adhesive and spray the chipboard together. This will make a really strong heavy backing. Ink the edges of the top paper and adhere it to the chipboard.
Next you will die cut the frame from the 3-D Shadow Box die using your chipboard and pattern paper. Adhere the two together, then machine stitch around the outside.
Next you will adhere the top frame to the bottom frame using a hot glue gun.
Now it is time to embellish the front of the wall hanging. Use a piece of coffee stained batting and cut it out using the 3-D Shadowbox die once again. You will then cut the batting with scissors to mimic a snowfall.
Next, you will die cut the small star from the 3-D StarBight die and fold, ink, and glue edges together. Spray with adhesive and add your glitter. Adhere a smaller snowflake to the top and glue the star to the wall hanging.
Take two small Styrofoam balls, cut in half and press to squish them to the desired size. Coat them with gesso and the white acrylic paint. Make a nose using clay and secure it to his face. For the eyes you can use black acrylic paint or buttons. Spray the snowman with adhesive and sprinkle on your glitter.
Using rusty bells, adhere three of them to his front and for his arms use rusted wire. Make his scarf out of fabric or yarn. Make a top hat using pattern paper and form his hat. Take a piece of tinsel rope and a small rust bell and finish off the hat. When he is complete, adhere him to the front of the frame.
To finish add heavy gauge wire to the top for a nice hanger. Tie navy gingham ribbon into bows and adhere to the corners using hot glue.
Adhere your sentiment words to the front and add a larger rusty bell to the bottom to complete the project. Thank you Hilary for sharing how to make this adorable winter wall hanging decoration.
Enjoy your crafting day!
