Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: I remember piecing together electrical tape and binder paper as a little girl. Luckily, I graduated to washi tape and pretty patterned papers around my senior year of high school. After seeing a scrapbook someone else made, I became instantly obsessed with all things paper crafts. That obsession only intensified when I got married and started having kids. Now, documenting our little family’s memories is a lifestyle for me. I have the privilege of being a blog coordinator for Scrapbook Circle and designing for Pink Paislee, DCWV, Pretty Little Studio, and SRM Press.
Favorite thing to create: My favorite thing to create is mini albums, although time doesn’t permit me to make as many as I’d like. Layouts are a very close second.
What do you love about scrapbooking? My favorite thing about paper crafting is the combination of creative expression and recording family history. I love learning new techniques and developing my style. I also love the online scrapbooking community!
5 fun facts about yourself:
1. When I’m not crafting, I’m teaching as a professional dancer and choreographer.
2. I can’t work without the TV on and a diet Pepsi. I’m trying to break that soda habit, though!
3. I had three boys before my little girl came along. I am having so much fun with girly layouts!
4. I cut off 14 inches of my hair two years ago and haven’t looked back. I love my pixie!
5. I’m super shy, so if I meet you at CHA or someplace like that, feel free to start the conversation.
Here is the lovely layout Tessa made for her spotlight:
BLISS by Tessa Buys
This layout is typical of my love for mist (love Heidi Swapp Color Shine and her masks!), a typewriter font, and a single instagram-style photo.
TRUE LOVE by Tessa Buys
I do occasionally scrapbook someone other than my little girl these days. I can’t seem to make a layout without some sort of floral going on, though!
HELLO LOVE by Tessa Buys
My little one was only three weeks old in this photo. Time flies by too fast, and that is exactly why I scrapbook. Well, that and I get to play with lovely product like this Pink Paislee goodness.
FAVORITE by Tessa Buys
Every once in awhile I like to shake things up and create in an 8.5 x 11 format. Pairing the artsy, messy paint with vintage-style products from Pretty Little Studio was a fun experiment.
A by Tessa Buys
I love a good monogram. And the colors blue and yellow. Not all little girl pages need to be entirely pink!
Thanks so much for sharing your creations with us, Tessa! See ya’ll again next week!
Yay, Tessa! Congratulations! I recognize so many of these pages ;).
