Technique Spotlight with Paige Evans: 8.5 x 11 Layouts

Once upon a time (way back in 2007) I worked as an In-House Scrapbooker at American Crafts. Who could even call it work when I got to scrapbook all day!? One of my tasks was creating samples for the catalogs and I made a bunch of simple 8.5 x 11″ pages. Not all pages need to take hours and hours to make!

Here I layered a couple pieces of paper, stapled a few pieces of ribbon, and created a large title with Thickers. Easy peasy!

A large-scale patterned paper background helps bring out the colors in the photo.

This photo mat was made from pieces of ribbon! A great way to use up any and all scraps!

You can combine easily blocks of patterned paper to make interesting geometric backgrounds.

I enjoyed taking a walk down memory lane and thinking about how I enjoyed the smaller canvas of the 8.5 x 11″ pages. I found it very easy to put together pages quickly. Do you prefer 12 x 12″ or 8.5 x 11″ pages? I’d love to hear your preferences, and the reasons why you prefer the size you do.

Happy scrapbooking!

Paige

Hi Paige! I’m still a 12×12 scrapper. It was great to see some of your old layouts. I probably still have some of that paper in my stash, lol! ? Thank you for sharing. Take care, Kim 🙂
