Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: Hi! I’m Niki and I live in the UK with my crazy family. I run GoGo Getaway, a UK retreat company and am on lots of scrapbooking design teams. In my “spare time” I childmind at home so my house is a busy one. I love to relax while the children are at school with my paper trimmer and glittery scissors. I’ve always had a love for creating and that developed into scrapbooking about 12 years ago when I wanted to keep a record of the first holiday I spent with my, now, husband. I didn’t even know scrapbooking was a thing then but I was hooked and carried on creating. I was delighted to discover that other people who liked creating photo albums with pretty papers existed!

Favourite thing to create: Always scrapbooking layouts filled with colour and bold elements.

What do you love about this hobby: I’ve always loved to create and scrapbooking combines my love of making things with documenting the lives of myself and my family. I love looking back to see what things we have done and how we have changed.

5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I scrap almost every day.
2. I used to be a lawyer!
3. I don’t eat onions.
4. I love vanilla coffee.
5. I’m on 7 design teams and live in a permanent state of panic.

BRIGHT STAR by Niki Rowland

I was totally inspired by this gorgeous Bright Star cut file by Paige Evans and carried the star theme through to every part of my layout about my sweet little boy. I added machine stitching around the edge using bakers twine, I love the chunky look this makes.

SWEET by Niki Rowland

This layout was totally inspired by the carousel zebra die cut – he just had to be added to a carousel! I found a file in the Silhouette Store and did some paper piecing and added some stitching to create a giant carousel on my layout with the zebra centre stage.

LOVE THIS by Niki Rowland

I love to use large elements on my layouts so giant flip flops seemed the perfect choice. I added some mixed media to the background and back filled each section of the flip flops to create this very summery layout.

SMILE by Niki Rowland

I was away without my Silhouette when I made this layout so I resorted to a pencil and paper to draw and cut that Instax camera. I pierced holes in all the layers to add the stitching and the title was given to me by a friend. I also tested out my new typewriter for the first time on this layout. I am often inspired by elements or icons that appear within a collection.

THE LUCKY ONES by Niki Rowland

Oh that heart paper! This was my inspiration for this layout for sure! I just loved it but it was a little too busy to use as a whole sheet, so I cut a large heart out of the middle and backed it with white, giving me the perfect place to build the rest of my layout.

WOW!!! I LOVE all of Niki’s layouts! She has such a beautiful style – I hope you are inspired to run to your craft room and create! See you again next week!
