Technique Spotlight with Paige Evans: Grids

Paige-technique-header

Running out of ideas? Then a grid layout is the way to go! It divides your layout into smaller sections so you can focus on just one little area at a time instead of the entire 12×12 canvas. I hope these grid based layouts inspire you to make one too!

ADVENTURES by Paige Evans

I made this layout for the Fall 2017 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine which you can download and view for free! I started by stitching a sun burst using lots of different colors of thread and then created a 3×3 grid from paper and embellishments in my Pink Paislee collection called Turn the Page.

BYE BYE GERMANY by Paige Evans

To make the grid on this layout I used different elements from my Turn the Page collection with Pink Paislee: barcode strips, washi tape, and ribbon! Then I had so much fun filling in each square with a photo or journaling or title or small embellishments!

LUNCH by Paige Evans

I hand stitched the grid background on this dark background page and then filled in the sections with journaling cards – all from my very first collection with Pink Paislee called Fancy Free! I love having lunch at school with my little guy!

SUMMER by Paige Evans

The grid background on this layout is machine stitched lines spaced 1″ apart. A little die cut, sticker, or stamping went in each space then topped it with a photo!

LOVE YOU by Paige Evans

My final example of a grid based layout also uses a hand stitched grid and then I filled in the spaces with lots of photos and fussy cut flowers from my Take Me Away line with Pink Paislee. I love using grids to make quick and easy pages and don’t see this design fading anytime soon!

Especially liked “Lunch” and “Love You” . Great idea and a great way to use a lot of the embellishments that need to be used.
