Technique Spotlight with Paige Evans: Snow Cute Layout

Paige-technique-header

Is it snowing where you live or are you basking in warmth and sunshine? Here in Germany the snow has finally melted, but I wouldn’t past Mother Nature to be done with snow quite yet! I took a lot of photos of my daughter Jane in the snow this winter and was excited to scrapbook one of them on a new layout.

I started by die cutting the “Stencil Daisies” cut file from textured white cardstock. Then I spent some time backing each of the petals with a piece of patterned paper from Paper 24 of my Oh My Heart collection with Pink Paislee. Once all the petals were backed I adhered the piece onto a periwinkle cardstock background that I had spritzed with white paint using a toothbrush.

On the upper right corner I tucked the photo under one of the large open spaces and created the title along the top curve to say “SNOW CUTE”.

Next came the embellishing! Once I got started it was hard to stop! I used puffy stickers, die cuts, chipboard stickers, and paper stickers to create two main clusters around the photo and on the bottom left corner. I journaled in another one of the large open spaces using a black pen.

What do watches and books have to do with snow?! Not a whole lot, but I am trying to break free of “rules” that I set for myself to broaden my creativity and have fun! I hope you inspired to try this technique on a future layout!

The layout is very cute, but a bit busy for me. I did not see that you had added a picture until I read about it. For myself, I would put pictures in the larger open circles and let them shine. Very cute idea and gave me ideas for a layout.
