Lucky Burlap Canvas

Hey, everyone! How are you all this fine Monday? Today I am here to share with you a fun fabric project perfect for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day holiday—a four-leaf clover “Lucky” burlap canvas.

For this project, I used my die cut machine (Cricut Explore and Classroom – February & March Digital Set) to cut out a four-leaf clover from fabric, then I adhered the fabric shape to a burlap canvas. Cutting fabric with a die cut machine can be a little intimidating, but it really isn’t difficult.

I started with a panel of fabric, some iron-on adhesive, and an iron.

The fabric needs to be stabilized before cutting, so I ironed the iron-on adhesive to the back side of the fabric panel.

After ironing, I removed the adhesive’s paper backing from the back side of the fabric.

I attached the fabric, adhesive side down, to my cutting mat.

Before cutting, I adjusted my machine to the correct settings for cutting fabric.

Then, I started cutting.  Note: When cutting fabric, I always try to use a new cutting mat and blade to minimize snagging the fabric while cutting.

And because I am still trying to perfect my cutting techniques for fabric, I used a pair of scissors to clean up a few rough edges.

I then ironed my die cut four-leaf clover to a 6 x 6″ burlap canvas.

After that, all that was left was to decorate my canvas with some hand stitching, a green stitched-ribbon bow, and some glitter letter stickers.

See—that wasn’t difficult! And this type of project is perfect for any holiday or season. All you need to do is pick a shape, a word or sentiment, and fabric/colors that fit the occasion.
