Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: I am a (soon-to-be) mother of 2, to a boy AND a girl (STILL so surprised over that as she will be making her debut mid June) and I have been married to my husband for 9 years this September. I love taking photographs and documenting my life. Lately I have found myself obsessed with using my planner as my main memory keeping tool but I love to create scrapbook pages and mini albums whenever I can. I started crafting in University when I was struggling with the demands of school, being away from family, and trying to now navigate life as an “adult”. Scrapbooking became my place of solace, and truly my form of therapy when I was feeling very sad and depressed. It helped pull me through some dark times and for that reason I will be forever grateful. Creating art for me has been such a therapeutic tool, both in the past and at present. I am very grateful for this hobby as it has also presented some amazing opportunities for me such as being a member on Heidi Swapp’s Media Team. I have had some incredible experiences because of that team and have met some of the most amazing people ever. I am so grateful for each and every day and the opportunities that present itself all because of scrapbooking! I am always loving to share, inspire, and BE inspired!

Favorite thing to create: I absolutely love creating mini albums and working in my planner. I have always been a journaler at heart.

What do you love about this hobby? I just love being able to lose myself in photos and stories. I love seeing my life looking back at me. It is such a huge blessing and very fulfilling to see. No matter how crazy life can feel and get, spending time in my scrapbook room always makes everything so much better. I also love all of the other amazing artists and paper crafters I have had the honour of meeting and becoming friends with. Some of the most beautiful people I have ever met. This is such an inspiring industry and it has impacted me in the most powerful and positive ways.

5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I love to travel. Currently NYC ranks #1 on the places I have visited. Strolling through the streets in Greenwich Village is one of my best memories.
2. I am obsessed with Instagram. I love being inspired by all of the amazing artists out there sharing their hearts.
3. Ever since I was a child I have always loved pens, paper, notebooks and anything related to stationary!
4. I love reality TV, especially Dancing With The Stars and The Bachelor/Bachelorette.
5. I am such a disorganized person, yet I still know where everything is!

Here is the lovely layout Lindsay made for her spotlight:

THIS IS US by Lindsay Bateman

I love using Instax photos on my layouts. I had so much fun pairing them with the Heidi Swapp Magnolia Jane collection. I really wanted to tell the story behind these photos so I used my We R Memory Keepers Typecast to add the vintage type text directly onto my page. I love how they have different colours of ribbon because the brown vintage-looking soft text is exactly the feel I wanted to tell my story.

LAUGH by Lindsay Bateman

This layout is one of my favourites because it incorporates the MINC mediums. I am not much of a mixed media girl, but when I do play with Mixed Media products I always fall in love. This entire page background was created with an art screen and reactive mist using MINC foil. It is hard to believe that this once was just a plain white piece of 12×12 paper.

HAPPY by Lindsay Bateman

This hybrid layout has always been one of my favourites. I love incorporating hybrid pieces onto my page to create “custom” embellishments. The phrase circles are Ali Edwards digital art that I simply printed out and then circle punched. I thought they added such a fun element to this layout.

OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY by Lindsay Bateman

For me this layout is all about the photo. I love how photographs capture some of the most precious moments of our lives. I really kept this one simple to let the photo speak for itself.

PLANNER SPREAD by Lindsay Bateman

This is one of my recent planner spreads. I really love how my planner pages come together because it honestly just happens! I do not really “plan” my planner pages. I just go with the flow and they often end up always being a favourite. Life notes, photos, stickers, washi… how can you go wrong?

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today and getting to know designer Lindsay Bateman!
