Designer Spotlight with Paige Evans: Katie Ehmann

I’m so excited to be back with another Designer Spotlight! I’m Paige Evans and today I’m shining the light on a fellow friend and lovely scrapbooker, Katie Ehmann.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: I live in Michigan with my awesome husband and two dress-wearing, super frilly, always girly, princess-obsessed girls, Lily and Maya. I’m not quite sure how that happened because I love playing soccer and wearing anything but dresses. I am a school social worker, scrapbooker, wanna-be photographer, and do-er of all things crafty. I love vintage cameras, typewriters, spray paint, and estate sales. You can also find me watching really super intellectual, high quality reality television on a regular basis. I started scrapbooking when I got married in 2004, but really became serious about it in early 2012. I have designed for American Crafts and Crate Paper and have guest designed for numerous kit clubs and manufacturers. I am currently designing for Gossamer Blue.

Favorite thing to create: Layouts.

What do you love about scrapbooking? While I do enjoy the memory keeping aspect of scrapbooking, I am enamored with the creativity factor. I love thinking outside the box when it comes to creating pretty pages.

5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I have never had a Coke or Pepsi in my life.
2. I’m a life-long Michigander.
3. I play soccer at least once per week, year-round.
4. My favorite place in the whole world is Walt Disney World.
5. I’d love to be an actress one day.

TEXAS by Katie Ehmann

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut this fun pieced Texas outline on white cardstock. I backed each section with different map paper, added lots of photos, and a few embellishments. I love how fun and colorful it is!

WALT DISNEY WORLD by Katie Ehmann

This was the perfect layout to use up my stash of different colored enamel dots! I created my own Mickey shaped cut file, adhered it to a piece of neutral patterned paper, and went to town filling it with dots. I stuck with a single photo and a simple title to complete the page.

FLORIDA by Katie Ehmann

I am currently loving big alphas and was really happy these fit perfectly across my page. The little acrylic flamingo, paper strips, and embellishments added the perfect finishing touches without taking away from my title and photos.

EIGHT by Katie Ehmann

I wanted a fun design to go with this silly photo of my birthday girl. I cut “8”s in different fonts and patterns and adhered them with foam to add dimension to this page. And that little hula hooping, skating girl was the cutest thing ever and totally sums up my daughter’s personality!

L&M by Katie Ehmann

Wood veneer hoops were the perfect way to highlight my photos and title against this busy star patterned paper which is one of my favorite papers of all time (and that’s saying a lot!). I printed my photos in black and white to add contrast.
