Freebie Friday – embellish IT!

Freebie Friday with Jen Walker

Happy Friday everyone! Even though it is still early November, I find that I have already started to make lists for things that I don’t want to forget over the next few months. I have lists of chores I need to finish before the weather turns too cold, lists of who I want to purchase gifts for, and lists for things I want to organize in the house. I have so many lists right now that I could even afford to have a list of my lists to keep me organized!

One of the items I had on my list for the next few weekends was to start planning a December Daily album.  I have considered doing this type of album in the past but often find myself overwhelmed with both remembering to take a photo every day as well as create the perfect album filled with a month of different but coordinated pages.

When I received the Christmas 25 Days Album Kit from embellish IT!, I was more than happy to get crafty. With all of the product already coordinated and all the pages figured out for me, the stress was gone and I was ready to get crafty.

I started off by opening up the kit and checking out all the different papers and embellishments that are included in the kit.  I then read over the first page full of instructions so that I would not get ahead of myself or cut something that I shouldn’t be cutting.  I really enjoyed having a full set of instructions that include both written steps as well as a photo of each page of the album.  I am very visual and find that sometimes I follow the steps and other times I create from looking at the photos.

I am planning to use the album for daily photos this December.  I have therefore not added photos to the pages.  I also did not completely embellish the pages yet as I want to add the final embellishments once the photos have been added on the pages.  I have chosen some of my favourite pages from the 25 days to share with you here.

I really like how different pages use different sized photos. You can also use multiple photos on an number of the pages. Another thing I really enjoyed about working with the kit is that I actually used full packs of product. I often like a few pieces in an ephemera pack or brad package. I use the few pieces I love and then have lots of extra pieces left. This kit gave me great ideas on how to use more pieces as well as modify the pieces for greater variety on the pages of the album.  (Note: All of the pages should have holes punched in them. I will be adding them back to the pages soon.)

Shelby has generously offered a discount for any Scrapbook Expo friends who place an order for a kit before November 12th.  Use the coupon code: NovExpo to receive $8 off your purchase.  This coupon expires 11.12.15.

The Christmas Trees are gorgeous – they do not photo well as they are white fine glitter. Love this line by Pink Paislee!

Shelby’s kits are always wonderful. I love how she manages to think outside the box when using embellishments and papers. I wish she would come back to the east coast to teach again!

Thanks AnninPA. I miss traveling as much as I use to but my 4 kids need me home right now. Hoping to get out to the east coast in 2016.

I have found I am way more apt to take photos & make the memory when I already have a project in mind. Kinda reverse I know but it works for me (& my family knows that all mom wants is a couple good photos).

  5. Kathy says:

I’ve always wanted to do something like this! I had never heard of embellish it before so I’m going to check them out!!! Thanks for sharing!

  8. Brenda Darland says:

I have not done one of these as I thought they might be to involved but with this type of project this could be really fun!! And they would make GREAT CHRISTMAS gifts to my scrapping friends!! Please??!! Thanks!

Our album kits do make great gifts BUT i always warn people that they will not want to give it away once they finish it. Also, it is SO much faster to do 2 at the same time than to do one then go back & do a 2nd one.

  9. LCJinRolsynPA says:

I have done a DD album only once – and am about ready to jump in with that kind of project once again. I love the look of the pages highlighted an would be thrilled to win the kit – I think it would make it more likely I would finish than if I were starting from scratch. Thanks for sharing the pages and for the chance to win!
