It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas out there and I thought you would enjoy this handmade burlap wreath that I discovered on Kim O’Connell’s blog. I’d like to send out a huge thank you to Kim for sharing her darling project with us. Be sure to stop by her Paper Perfect Designs Blog where you will be very inspired to start your next project.
Begin by gathering your supplies. You will need a 16″ green box style metal wreath frame, approximately 40-50 feet of burlap, floral wire, wire cutters, and some floral stems of your choice. You could make this adorable wreath for just about any holiday. If you made the floral stems removable you could change it with the seasons; below is one created for fall.
Kim used 2 1/2″ wired burlap ribbon to the make the wreath above. Non-wired ribbon can be used, but you do have more control with the wired ribbon. You could also use a wider ribbon if you like it fuller; it’s all up to you.
Gather the end of the burlap ribbon and weave a piece of wire through and tie it onto the inner rung of the wreath frame. Use wire cutters and snip off the excess wire after it has been secured.
Make a loop and tie it to the frame. Trim the excess wire as you go.
Make the same size loop and tie it to the next rung.
Continue making the loops, moving back and forth across the rungs as you attach them. Finish off by adding the floral stems of your choice to the last section of the wreath and attach them with the floral wire.
Thanks for stopping by for a visit. I hope you’ve been inspired to give this wreath for all seasons a try.
