Halloween is my very favorite holiday to decorate for. I enjoy creating fun decorations for my home and have a fun, festive Halloween decoration to share with you. This project will be one that you and your family will enjoy for years. The best part of all is that you will have created it yourself. Shelly Hickox is a very talented crafter and we thank her for sharing this fun project.
To begin, die cut white cardstock using the 3D luminary die. Cut four panels. Ink the poison label background stamp with Jet Black Archival ink. Position the luminary panel as shown, cover with a piece of scrap paper, and press down to transfer the image. Stamping it this way allows you to see where the text will be stamped.
Next, use an inking tool and various shades of orange Distress ink to color the panels both front and back.
Apply Wonder Tape to all of the tabs and crease all of the folds. With this die, it is a good idea to cut one panel to practice on. It is not difficult, but can be a bit tricky the first time you try to figure out the folds.
Cut four panels from acetate/transparency, slightly larger than the window opening. Cover all panels with Frosted Film. Glue windows to the back side of the panels, making sure the frosted side faces out.
Cut four spiders from black cardstock and adhere to the center of each window. Remove the backing from the long tab and adhere to the next panel. Once that is in position, adhere the smaller tabs. Continue until your luminary is complete.
Cut the lantern top piece twice from black cardstock. Join the pieces and fold. Adhere to the top of the lantern. Cut the base piece from black cardstock and assemble.
To finish the lantern, add some Striped Paper String and a Halloween Muse Token to the bottom. On the top, fasten a ring from black wire and glue it in place with hot glue. Add a sheer black bow and some mini pumpkins. The top of the luminary is trimmed with some idea-ology Tissue Tape. Spritz the luminary with a little gold Perfect Pearls mist to give it some sparkle.
I hope you enjoyed this fun tutorial and create a luminary for your own home. A big thank you to Shelly for sharing such a fun and inspirational project with us; make sure to stop by her blog for even more inspiration.
Happy Halloween! Thank you for stopping by.
