Spotted Chick

Today’s project goes out to all of you very talented stampers. What’s not to love about this very adorable gift wrapping and card set designed by Jeanie Wilmer author of The Spotted Chick Blog?

Jeanie started out using  a 3 3/4″ card base cut from kraft colored cardstock (you will need two pieces), then follow up with the red mat, resized to 3 1/4,” leaving a nice 3″ mat for the sweet image and fun stamped background.

I love how Jeanie stamped and colored two of the images and then layered them on top of each other using foam squares for added dimension. It really makes the crazy chick pop off the card! Glossy Accents were used to accent the chick’s comb. The little nest made from raffia is perfect for grounding the main image/focal point, instead of having the chicken just floating on the card.

gift box

The handmade box is so cute, I would definitely be carefully removing the band and scrapping it with a Happy Birthday photo or two! The band was made using a border punch and the same red cardstock as on the card front. The box was finished off by wrapping some kraft twine and a small tag stamped with another cute chick.

Inside of card

The front and back of the card are attached by a red brad. The card opens by rotating the top panel upward. Soooo cute! Even the envelope was handmade using the We R Memories Keepers Envelope Punch Board that was punched from a piece of brown kraft paper and lined in a sweet red and white gingham patterned paper. I’m seeing a great way to use our treasured scraps.

I hope you’ve been inspired to break out your favorite stamp set and create your own fun wrapping ensemble. Who wouldn’t feel the love that was put into the wrapping of their gift?

Thanks again for visiting and I hope that you have a very creative day.
