Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: Hi, I am Janine Langer. I am 39 years old and I live close to Cologne, Germany. I am a wife, mother, and the official family photographer. That’s what I also do for a living, by the way, photography. It hasn’t always been that way; when I was much younger I became a foreign language correspondent and I also worked for the German government. I found that wasn’t what I really wanted to do and after I gave birth to my son and was a stay-at-home-mom for four years, I decided to do something completely different, and I love it! I started scrapbooking when I concentrated more and more on photography. I had the need to not only take the pictures, I also wanted to keep all the memories that came with the pictures in one place, so I started scrapbooking in 2006. Since then, I’ve been hooked on it! Unfortunately, I had to take a little break in scrapbooking, but now that I can do it again, I won’t ever stop with it. It is my creative outlet, kind of like therapy. 🙂 I love the thought of my son looking through all the albums when he’s a grown-up, maybe having his own little family!
Favorite thing to create: Traditional and hybrid layouts, mostly 8.5 x 11.
What do you love about scrapbooking? I have so many photos on my computer and in albums! Scrapbooking helps me to emphasize some of them. Either I love the photo, I love the story behind it, or I love both. For me it is a way to get all the stories behind the photo written down for my son. I sometimes miss the backstory when I go through old photos of my childhood and I wish someone had written them down for me. Besides that, I love everything about paper and design, so it is also a perfect creative outlet. 🙂
5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I am a bookworm. I own tons and tons of books and I love them.
2. I love Elvis Presley and everything vintage.
3. I have four tattoos.
4. I am a morning person (and my husband doesn’t like that at all!).
5. I don’t drink coffee.
Here is the stunning layout Janine made for her feature:
YOU ARE HERE by Janine Langer
In October we visited the Berliner Dom and were totally amazed by the inside of this huge church. For this layout I printed the journaling and the title on cardstock then layered the star transparency on top and added some embellishments and some stitching.
Here are four of Janine’s favorite projects:
HOGWARTS by Janine Langer
In January we visited the Harry Potter Studios in London. It was such an amazing day and the big model of Hogwarts was covered in snow. Wow!
HELLO SUMMER by Janine Langer
This is a hybrid layout. I planned it on my computer and then printed out all the papers/elements, cut them out, and used them like traditional supplies. Finally, I added some embellishments.
YOU LIFT ME UP by Janine Langer
For this layout my Silhouette Portrait came in handy to cut out all the landscapes as well as the balloon. I wanted to tell my dh and my son how much I love them and that I am so thankful for their support.
GOOD TIMES by Janine Langer
This is one of my favorite layouts that I made about our summer vacation in 2015. I fell in love with the photo that I took with my phone when we were on a trip to a tiny little village on the coast of Andalusia. To emphasize the white houses I tried to keep this layout as light as possible.
Thank you so much for letting us feature you Janine – can’t wait to see all of your future projects!
