Hi Weekly Scrapper friends, Becki here, to show you how to create a layout using paper straws. Yes, I said paper straws! I’ve been seeing adorable paper straws showing up all over the place and even some straws that are manufactured by scrapbooking companies.
I gathered a few supplies and got to work with all these fun Halloween products.
Because this layout is a Halloween layout I chose black and white straws.
I simply used a sharp pair of scissors to cut the straws into small pieces. The longest piece is about 2 1/2 inches and the smallest piece is just shorter than an inch. I didn’t measure when I cut the straws, I just cut them into random pieces.
I used strong double sided sticky tape to adhere the paper straw pieces to the background of my layout.
After creating the paper straw border, I finished the rest of my layout.
All the patterned paper for this layout came from some classic Bella Blvd Halloween collections (Trick or Treat and Halloween Magic).
These adorable cork numbers come from the Crate Paper Wonder collection. The puffy spider is from the Pebbles Boo! collection.
The letter stickers are chipboard Thickers covered in black fabric. When I’m putting chipboard letter stickers on my layouts I always add either liquid glue or machine stitching to adhere them, even though the stickers already have adhesive on them. I’ve found that over time the stickers fall off my layouts. By adding additional adhesive or stitching, the stickers don’t fall off. I printed my journaling on basic printer paper, cut it into small strips, and adhered the strips below the title.
I added lots of tags and tabs above and to the left side of the photo. (These die cuts are from Bella Blvd.) I finished the layout with lots of machine stitching (using black thread). Because I simply love Halloween, this layout was so fun for me to create.
Now, it’s your turn. Grab some paper straws and create a layout with them. I’d love to see what you create. Thanks for joining me on the Weekly Scrapper blog. I’ll see you next Thursday with a video that I know you’ll love!
