Another incredibly talented crafter I’ve had the pleasure to co-teach with this past year in Italy is Soraya Maes and I am so excited to shine the spotlight on her today!
Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started crafting: Hi! My name is Soraya Maes, I’m a 36-year-old mom and wife living in the French Riviera, Southern France. I started scrapbooking in 2005 discovering the great community of ladies who were sharing their creations and techniques through blogs and videos – this is how I got hooked! I love journaling since I started documenting my vacations and special moments in notebooks when I was about 11. Documenting my everyday life has always been a part of me.
Favorite thing to create: My favorite things to create are mini books and notebooks because I love documenting daily living.
What do you love about this hobby? Well, I love how a scrapbook layout can be rich with new techniques the same way I love how some memories can be simply documented. Everyone can find happiness with scrapbooking; there is room for everyone and I love this worldwide feeling! There are no boundaries, we are free to create and share what we love, we are our own limit.
5 fun facts about yourself:
1. I never go outside without mascara. Mascara is my life lol.
2. I have a funny collection of purses (panda, fox, smiley… love! haha!)
3. I could watch the Cinderella movie again and again and again…
4. I gave a name to my Silhouette Cameo “Biscotte” (in French it means “rusk” because of its sound while cutting).
5. I love baking and making baby donuts!
Here is the oh-so-lovely layout Soraya made for her Scrapbook Expo spotlight:
FANTASTIC COLORS by Soraya Maes
I wanted to create a colorful design for this layout, using a lot of patterned papers from the Take Me Away collection by Paige Evans. This photo reminds me of our last vacation so it deserved to be surrounded by colors and light!
BLOOM by Soraya Maes
I cherish every memory with my adorable kids and this layout is one of my favorites! I wanted to create a frame doodle like a wreath with yellow paint and beautiful elements like flowers and leaves.
HERE & NOW by Soraya Maes
This is a special, fresh, and colorful layout with yellow and green tones; I love the fruity side of it!
ROMA MINI ALBUM by Soraya Maes
I went to Italy recently and fell in love with the beauty of Roma! This mini book will help me to wait patiently before I go back there!
OUR BEAUTIFUL STORY by Soraya Maes
Blue and romantic: this is how I wanted this layout to turn out. I must admit that I’m a huge fan of everything with flowers and especially those pretty resin flowers.
Thank you, thank you to Soraya for joining us today and sharing her wonderful talents! Be sure to stop by her blog and instagram (and more) listed at the top of this post to see tons of her amazing projects!
