Creating Layouts and Cards Together

Becki-Adams-headerHi friends! It’s time for Inspiration Station, I’m Becki Adams. Today, I have TWO fun projects to share with you. I recently cleaned and reorganized my crafting space. I found that my scraps and partially used products were taking over my space. To help resolve this issue, I’m trying to get into the habit of creating a card as soon as I’m done with a layout.

The layout and card that I created for you today features the brand new “Dino Friends” collection from Echo Park Paper. I used three photos on this layout, one 4 x 6″ black and white photo and two smaller color photos. Creating a layout that mixes black and white and color photos can be tricky. One tip for making this easier is to make your focal photo larger than the supporting photos.

To complete this layout I added three clusters of embellishments. I used wood veneer stars to create continuity between the embellishment clusters. The final step was to sprinkle a little bit of blue ink around each embellishment cluster.

When I finished the layout (before I cleaned my desk off) I created a card. It’s so easy to make a card quickly when all the supplies are already at my finger tips.

I only used a couple of stickers, patterned paper, and a few enamel dots to complete this card.

I added interest and dimension to the card by adhering a couple of the stickers with foam adhesive. The enamel dots added texture to the card.

Next time you sit down at your desk to create, try using a few more of your supplies to create another smaller project, like a card.

I’ll see you again next Thursday; thanks for stopping by today!
