Happy fall, my crafty friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper. It’s hard to believe that it’s October already and that means beautiful fall foliage (if you’re lucky), warm cozy sweaters, holiday crafting, and of course, everything pumpkin. It’s my favorite time of the year and I can’t wait to start my holiday crafting. Since you have arrived it must be time to start today’s creative therapy.
Don’t Forget to Be Awesome
A priceless photo or two, some artsy techniques in the background, and topped off with some handwritten journaling to add that personal touch, creates the perfect recipe for an amazing layout, a real work of art. I love how Riikka used the foils to add that subtle shimmer throughout the background as well as on the photo. Did you know that most foils will stick to just about any sticky surface? On this layout, Riikka used several ways to apply the foil, one of which she stamped a pattern using Wow! Embossing Ink and covered the stamped image with Bonding Powder. While the powder was still hot she placed the foil on top. You can also use a stencil and a glue stick but remember, the image won’t be quite as defined as if you used a stamp. The possibilities are endless!
There is so much more than first meets the eye. I highly recommend stopping by the Wow! Blog to check out Riikka’s article where she generously shares some great techniques that were used to create this adorable layout. Happy scrapping, my friends.
You Got This By Barbara Anders
I can’t think of a better way to offer a bit of encouragement than to send one of your handmade treasures through the mail. This clean and simple card is proof that sometimes less is definitely more. Who wouldn’t feel the love after opening the mailbox to find this heartfelt card?
I hope you’ve been inspired to break out the foam tape and create your own peek-a-boo elements with your favorite dies. Big hugs to Barbara for being such a constant inspiration to her fellow paper crafters. Keep up the great job you are doing by sharing those smiles one handmade card at a time.
Family Birthday Tracker
While spending some quality time on my Pinterest boards, I came across this adorable birthday tracker that I shared a while back and knew I needed to revisit this one for the holidays. Being the talented crafter that you are, do your friends and family look forward to receiving one of your handmade treasures during the holidays? I’m thinking that they do! 😉 I made several of these one year to give to the girls for Christmas and they were a huge hit. The hardest part is to gather all the birthdays. If that’s not an option you can leave the tags blank and let them fill them in later; you could even include a fine-tipped marker.
After all, not everyone is blessed with the gift of being super organized, so having this handcrafted birthday reminder is a beautiful way to keep track of everyone’s birthday at a glance. Since I travel so much with the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo and am on a plane more than I am in my Toyota, I am always late for someone’s birthday so I can use all the help I can get, how about you?. Click here and I will be happy to take you over to the original source of inspiration so you create your own birthday tracker. That’s one gift you can check off your list.
Artichoke and Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta
Are you looking for a quick and easy solution for dinner tonight? Then you are gonna love this yummy pasta dish that can be on the table in less than 30 minutes. It would take longer to order a pizza and your family will love this homemade goodness. A real comfort food for the cooler weather that’s been knocking at our door. You know my motto – less time in the kitchen leaves more time in your craft room!
Click here and I will escort you over to one of my favorite food blogs Julie’s Eats & Treats, so you can print out the recipe. You and your family will be glad you did. Bon appetit!
Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope you have an amazing week ahead of you. Hugs to all and I look forward to seeing you back next Sunday.
