It’s no secret that I LOVE hand stitching on my layouts! When we’re going on long road trips or when there is a special cut file that catches my eye, I like to turn to stitching to add that extra dimension and pop of color! Recently I tried a different kind of stitch instead of my usual backstitch. It’s called a chain stitch and I LOVE the texture it adds! Here are four recent layouts that I’ve made featuring a chain stitch:
EXTRAORDINARY by Paige Evans
Here I used my Stitched Hearts Template cut file as a, well, template haha, to stitch the concentric hearts using my new collection with Pink Paislee called Pick-Me-Up to add a few embellishments! I wanted the stitching to be the star of the show so I didn’t add too much after the photo and title!
ALL GROWN UP by Paige Evans
On this layout I used my Overlapping Hearts Background cut file as a template for chain stitching hearts. I used colors of thread to match my Turn the Page collection with Pink Paislee and once again only embellished minimally to let the hard work of stitching shine!
HAVE FUN by Paige Evans
I believe this is the very first layout I tried the chain stitch! As you can see, I LOVE making hearts – it’s such a universal shape that goes with almost any subject!
NAUGHTY OR NICE by Paige Evans
On this final example I made chain stitched lines to dangle origami stars like ornaments since this is a Christmas-themed page!
I am always thrilled to see sewing on paper. On a Scrapbooking cruise I took many years ago, I took a class on how to sew on paper. This example of sewing on paper is very creative.
Hi Paige – I totally loved your Extraordinary video. I am trying to find the ephedra of flowers you used to fill in the heart and can’t seem to. Can you please point me in the right direction of where I can get some? Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful projects!
