I discovered this beautiful work of art on Shari Carroll Blog spot. I highly recommend stopping by for a visit, you will truly be inspired.
There is something about vintage buttons & misc trinkets that always pulls me in. When I saw this canvas with the gorgeous heart made from buttons/trinkets I knew I had found today’s inspiration. I would like to send out a big thank you to Shari for sharing her beautiful design with us today.
Start out by choosing your canvas and color pieces. Shari used Basic Grey White Paper Pack papers and the brads in the background are from My Mind’s Eye Lost and Found collection.
Than just start cutting or tearing paper affixing them to the canvas with Modge Podge or other gel medium. I love how Shari chose a combination of straight edges and torn edges It adds some interest to the background.
Here is where Shari traced a heart onto the canvas and started adding her buttons, brads and bobbles. The buttons were hand sewn on the canvas, not only does it secure the buttons forever, but it also adds some homespun charm to the main focal point (the heart).
So breakout a blank canvas and YOUR special treasures and have fun with it! 🙂
