Stacked Luggage Trunks

I have been a scrapbooker and paper crafter for over 14 years now and I also host Scrapbook Expo’s Creativity Center at 20 shows across the nation. When a project wows me after living in the industry for so long, I feel the need to share it, and this is one of those projects. I’d like to thank Tara Brown, one of the extremely talented designers on the Pion Design team, for sharing her amazing project. Tara really brought these adorable stacked altered trunks to life with such perfectly chosen embellishments. This is why most crafters are collectors; the more embellishments in our stash the happier we are.

Tara made these hinged boxes and then used Tim Holtz box corners to give the corners support and to also give them the look of a real trunk. The box corners, buckles, and clock faces with game spinners are Tim Holtz Idea-ology products. The bottom box blue compass and top box submarine and keyhole are “Explorer by Traditions” products, and the middle box heart with wings is a Spellbinders (A Gilded Life) product. The box handles are “Spare Parts” products, and the “Old World Key” is a “Fairytale” by Bead Treasures product. Now that you know what Tara used to embellish her trunks, have fun going through your paper crafting stash and create you own unique project. It really amazes me what you can create with paper and bits and pieces of this and that.

Tara designed the largest of these handmade hinged trunks to measure 7 x 9 x 3″ and the smallest one measures 4 x 6 x 2.5.″ Each one opens to hold photos and other little Pishkeys. How perfect would this be to present a few gifts to those special people in your life for the holidays? A gift within a gift!
