Autumn Thanks “Mixed Media” Card

I really like the idea of “mixed media” on a card, but am hesitant to try it.  I think “it’s too messy”, “it will be too bulky to mail” or “I just can’t figure out how to place things.”

This is a great example of a mailable card that uses “mixed media” in the forms of burlap, cork, twine and a woodgrain stamp.  It all works together and provides a really pleasant background for the Copic colored tree and leaves.

Ok.  I think I’ll try some more textural elements on my next card.  Just always remember what my first stamping teacher taught me:   B.L.T. – Background, Layering & Texture.

Designed by Chari Moss

Chari commented “This card focused on “natural elements” so I incorporated burlap, cork & burlap twine.  I stamped the woodgrain background using two different shadow inks so that the color above and below the cork element would have some contrast.  The tree from Lawn Fawn critters in the burbs can be easily colored to reflect the autumn colors and the little leaves added to it give it a different look, great way to stretch this stamp a little.”

Are you going to try a “mixed media” project now?
