Sundays With Lorraine

Sundays-with-Lorraine

Hello, my crafty friends, and welcome back to Weekly Scrapper.  I’m honored to have the opportunity to share the following projects with you, so sit back, relax, and enjoy – it’s time to get those creative juices flowing!

Creating a Layout with Oh Happy Life

Scrapbooking our journey through life is what we do, right? I fell in love with the simple design and soft colors of this sweet layout. It has all the components of the perfect page: precious photos, journaling, and a great background that complement the photos versus compete with them. Nancy used the Out and About paper from the “Oh Happy Life collection” by Amy Tangerine for the background and I love how the detailed white designs create a pretty frame around the photo.

I hope you’ve been inspired by this sweet layout designed by the very talented Nancy Damiano. For additional details on how this adorable page was created, just click here and I’ll take you over to the American Crafts blog for a visit. Happy scrappin’!

Mixed Media Morsels Technique Doodles Video by Eleni

If you don’t think of doodling as a serious art form, then think again! When I discovered this very creative video on youtube I immediately knew I had to share the inspiration. Would you believe this adorable work of art was created with a few contrasting scraps of patterned paper, a circle punch, and some simple doodling?

Doodling is a great, fun way of expressing yourself, but it’s often underrated as an art form. Yet simple doodling can help you learn how to draw and makes a great addition to your design portfolio – as shown by this fun design shared by Eleni. Combining child-like doodles with expressive illustrations shows how doodling can be used to create beautiful and arresting designs. I hope you give this fun technique a try on your next project.

The Art Of Possibility By Nika Rouss

This fun piece of art automatically made me smile. The whimsical stenciled images highlighted with the hand drawn doodles and the gorgeous burst of bright color is absolutely gorgeous. I’d like to send out a virtual hug to Nika for sharing the inspiration.

Mixed Media Bird By Nika Rouss

I highly recommend stopping by Donna Downey’s blog to check out the video that Nika prepared. You will be in awe when you see how easily this beautiful piece of art comes together.

Pallet Project for Small Space Storage

Wooden pallets by themselves are not particularly attractive, but with a little effort, you can transform them into a creative way to store and organize your precious crafting supplies. What’s not to love? They’re inexpensive (if not free), they can be customized to fit your personal needs, and they look wonderfully distressed and shabby chic. 😉

If you’d like to see some additional ways to recycle those disregarded pallets, click here and I will escort you over to a great site that I discovered called 101 Pallet Ideas. You’re going to love it! They have everything from a whimsical birdhouse bench to making a rustic coffee table. Have fun, my crafty friends!

Chicken Fajita Pasta By Kevin & Amanda

I have another tasty dish to share that I discovered on Kevin & Amanda’s amazing food blog. You will love this!  It’s loaded with crispy chicken, fresh veggies, and a wonderfully spicy, creamy sauce.

Chicken Fajita Pasta

You know me, always on the hunt for recipes that will get you out of that hot kitchen in under an hour and back into your craft room where you belong! With Kevin & Amanda’s help, this tasty dish can be on the table in about half an hour.  Click here and I will be happy to take you over so you can print out the recipe. While you’re visiting, make sure you check out the recipe for the homemade taco/fajita seasoning that was originally found on the Picky Palate Blog. It’s a keeper. Enjoy, my hungry friends!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderfully creative week ahead of you. Feel a hug and I’ll see you next Sunday on the Weekly Scrapper. If you happen to be in the Marlborough, MA area next weekend (September 9th & 10th) I’d love to share a free make & take with you at the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo; I’ll meet you in the Creativity Center!
